RightShip is scaling its use of AI from traditional ML models to advanced LLM-based reasoning systems, to support safer and more sustainable maritime operations. We are looking for a Data Scientist who can bridge both worlds: classical data science and modern AI/LLM governance.

This role is responsible for defining how models should be evaluated, monitored and governed across their lifecycle. You will work closely with domain experts, the existing AI team, data engineering and product teams to ensure our AI systems behave consistently, accurately and responsibly.

This is not an LLM-engineering or roadmap ownership role. It is a senior position focused on methodological leadership, model quality, and governance across AI and ML systems.

Major Responsibilities 

• Establish Best Practices for AI/LLM & Traditional ML Experimentation:
• Develop experimental methodologies for both classical ML and LLM-based systems.
• Standardise how experiments are structured, documented and compared across teams.
• Create reproducible workflows for testing prompts, model versions, embeddings and classical feature models.
• Ensure statistical soundness and methodological rigour in all experiments.
• You define “what goods like” in experimentation.
• Own the Evaluation Framework for Model Behaviour:
  • Build and maintain evaluation datasets, test suites and metrics for:
    • reasoning accuracy (LLMs)
    • classification performance (traditional models)
    • consistency and drift
    • hallucination checks
    • edge-case handling
    • domain-alignment
• Continuously refine the evaluation approach as the AI team iterates on models.
• Translate Domain Logic into Structured Model-Ready Logic
  • Work with maritime SMEs to understand inspection logic, safety reasoning and operational decisoin pathways.
  • Convert that knowledge into:
    • Classification schemas
    • Decision flows
    • Label definitions
    • Reasoning templates
    • Structured input/output rules for LLMs and ML models
• Ensure model behavior is grounded in real-work operational judgement.
• Support AI Team Experimentation . You will :
  • Provide guidelines, quality criteria and methodology for the AI team’s test design.
  • Review final experiments and highlight gaps, inconsistencies or risks.
  • Ensure that experimentation aligns with the governance, evaluation and lifecycle frameworks you maintain.
  • Maintain the benchmark suite the AI team must compare against.
• Conduct Traditional Data Science & ML Work
  • You will also contribute hands-on to classical data science tasks such as:
  • Analysis of structured datasets.
  • Feature engineering and exploratory data analysis.
  • Building classification or scoring models as needed (supervised ML).
  • Supporting domain teams with insights, prototypes or predictive modelling.
  • Working with data engineers to refine the data required for ML.
• Model Monitoring & Lifecycle Governance
  • Build processes for ongoing monitoring of AI behaviour and model drift.
  • Investigate anomalies or unexpected outputs.
  • Identify failures rooted in data, logic, edge cases or prompt structure.
  • Recommend corrective actions (model retraining, logic updates, new test suites, prompt refinement).
  • Maintain transparent documentation, audit trails and governance standards aligned with RightShip’s risk posture.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience  

• Bachelor’s or Masters (preferred) degree in Data Science, or relevant field.
• 7+ years in Data Science, Applied ML or AI-focused role
• Postgraduate studies or AI governance training is advantageous.
• Curious, a critical thinker and a strong sense of logic
• Superior mathematical ability
• Strong experience building and evaluating classification and supervised ML models.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent at establishing standards others can follow confidently.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL and model evaluation frameworks.
• Familiarity with MLflow (or equivalent), Vector DBs or LLM orchestration tools is a plus.
• Ability to influence through expertise rather than authority.

The Data Analyst will help the organisation continue to build world class data driven products to solve some of the most challenging problems in the maritime industry by maintaining and improving quality across critical data sets.  

This role will be responsible for providing analytical insights into our data to support RightShip’s strategy and mission. The Data Analyst is a proven self-starter who is able to communicate complex data analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner and deliver quality and best-practice reporting solutions for internal and external stakeholders.  

Major Responsibilities 

• Perform data exploration and analysis using SQL, Databricks, and Genie to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies.  
• Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports, including semantic models, DAX measures, and visual storytelling.  
• Build and maintain Databricks AI/BI dashboards and Databricks Genie Spaces to enable conversational, selfservice analytics.  
• Translate business needs into analytical requirements, partnering with stakeholders to shape metrics, models, and insights.  
• Define and maintain logical data models and metric definitions, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with governance.  
• Generate actionable insights through data storytelling, narrative summaries, and AIassisted explanations.  
• Conduct data quality checks and ensure governed usage across sources, models, dashboards, and Genie outputs.  
• Support experimentation and light data science work, including statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and MLready dataset preparation.  
• Enable and train business users to leverage Power BI, Databricks, and Genie for selfservice analytics.  
• Continuously improve analytics processes, evaluating new GenAI and BI capabilities to automate, accelerate, and enhance insights.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes 

• Demonstrable experience with Power BI, including advanced data modelling, semantic layer design, and enterprisegrade report development.  
• Strong handson DAX capabilities, able to write complex calculations that support KPI logic, advanced time intelligence, and governed metric definitions.  
• Excellent SQL skills (TSQL or similar) with proven experience transforming, profiling, and extracting insights from large and complex datasets.  
• Solid data modelling expertise using dimensional and industrystandard approaches (Kimball, Inmon), and the ability to design models optimised for analytics and AIassisted querying.  
• Deep knowledge of data visualisation best practices, with the ability to craft insightdriven dashboards and compelling data stories across Power BI and AIenhanced tools.  
• Experience working within a modern SDLC, including source control, environment management, and CI/CD practices for BI or analytics artefacts.  
• Strong analytical and problemsolving mindset, comfortable managing multiple competing priorities while maintaining clarity, accuracy, and rigor.  
• Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring highquality analytical outputs, validated metrics, and accurate insights for decisionmaking.

The Data Governance Team is directly responsible for improving the data maturity of the organisation through the delivery of Data Governance and Data Quality services at an enterprise level. The value that data can create for RightShip and our customers can only be achieved through a strong data foundation and mature organisational capabilities in managing, processing and utilising this data.   

Reporting to the Data Governance Lead, the Data Governance Advisor will play a significant role in supporting RightShip in leveraging data as an asset to ensure data can be used to inform key decisions and deliver valuable outcomes to customers and the wider ecosystem in general. 

You will drive the adoption and success of data governance across the organization by advocating for its importance, implementing frameworks, policies, and procedures, and engaging with stakeholders to monitor and track key governance KPIs. 

Major Responsibilities   

DATA GOVERNANCE 

• Provide subject matter expertise in data management and governance 

• Own the implementation of data governance tool and support the creation and maintenance of a centralized data catalog to improve data discovery, accessibility, and understanding across the organization. 

• Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards that align with the organization’s goals and regulatory requirements. 

• Work closely with business units and data stewards to establish data quality metrics and continually assess data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness. 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve data quality problems
