Product Manager – Circuit Breakers

Job Summary
The Product Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and lifecycle management of Phoenix Contact’s North American circuit breaker product portfolio. This portfolio is comprised of thermal-magnetic and hydraulic circuit breakers. This role ensures that all product initiatives are aligned with Phoenix Contact’s overall business strategy and market positioning within North America. The Product Manager leads the creation and execution of the product roadmap, working cross-functionally to define product requirements and drive go-to-market strategies. They are expected to balance customer needs, technological capabilities, and business objectives to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions. Key responsibilities include defining and evolving the product vision, managing the full product lifecycle from ideation through end-of-life, conducting market and competitive analysis, and collaborating with engineering, marketing, sales, and support teams to ensure successful product development and launch. The Product Manager also monitors product performance and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement, ensuring Phoenix Contact’s North American circuit breaker portfolio remains competitive and aligned with market demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the subject matter expert for circuit breaker technology – i.e., trip curves, short circuit current ratings, etc.
- Gather market research, customer feedback and stakeholder input to arrive at a strategic product plan
- Define what products are suitable for target markets.
- Develop and maintain product strategy and roadmap, and communicate strategy to appropriate internal stakeholders
- Manage the entire lifecycle of the product line including product concept, design, sample production, testing, forecast, cost, mass production, spec/feature additions and modifications, and product end of life.
- Ensure quality of the product line through collaboration with QA and factory.
- Set prioritization and work with product development team in setting product release deadlines
- Write functional specifications, customer value propositions statements, and expected benefit or loss (if not implemented) of a product or application concept.
- Ongoing communication on product’s progress to executives, sales team, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Product Marketing department to finalize marketing, technical, promotional, and PR material required for product introductions.
- Develop training material and provide training to sales and technical teams.
- Travel and participate in market activities such as standards meeting, specialty trade shows, conferences, key customer visits, and forums to gain closer access to customer and industry trends.
- Up to 20% travel, including international travel.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required.
- 3+ years of working knowledge of product development and/or product marketing experience with circuit breaker technology
- Experience with networking technologies including cellular and ethernet highly desired
- Candidate must be well organized, self-motivated, and capable of seeing projects through to completion.
- High level of accountability and planning capabilities, communicates with transparency and integrity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Successfully collaborate in a dynamic and diverse environment.
- Proficient with Salesforce, Microsoft Visio, & MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in vertical markets such as material handling, industrial machinery, power generation & energy, or data centers is a plus.
Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to travel via airplane for up to 14 hours
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time
- Must be able to travel overnight
- Must be able to sit for 4 hours at a time
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office, unless otherwise specified.

Industrial Engineer I

Job Summary
This entry level professional will contribute to analyzing production processes and determining rates and efficiency improvements. In addition, this individual will support the creation and maintenance of master data, standard costs, routers, and other manufacturing data. Further, the Industrial Engineer I will support manufacturing improvements. The Industrial Engineer I is the first level within the Industrial Engineer career path.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to strategic improvement projects, in a multi-disciplinary organization, to obtain cost reductions and improved efficiencies, to achieve profitability targets
- Identify process gaps through direction from Manufacturing Operations Manager
- Estimate production costs for new products, product changes, and development projects
- Perform time studies and efficiency analyses on machines and processes
- Maintain Baan router and work center product master data and standard cost data
- Maintain processes for life-cycle cost management of projects/programs from inception to completion with periodic review to identify causes for variance
- Identify products and/or processes where cost reductions might be realized
- Participate in the monthly Manufacturing and Development Engineering meetings as required
- Follow necessary PPE requirements, appropriate ISO specifications and company procedures
- Maintain project schedule using project management tools and methodology
- Work with Engineering and Production to manage changes to RBU produced products
- Analyze production equipment and type in support of meeting product demand, cost, and quality goals
- Other duties as assigned by one’s Manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related subject
- Excellent analytical skills
- Demonstrates problem solving skills
- General computer knowledge, and efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with others
- Knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques
- Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise-wide management software is desirable
- Knowledge of corporate and industry standards

Embedded Systems Engineer

Job Summary
An embedded systems engineer is an individual contributor role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing real-time embedded software and firmware solutions. This role supports cross-functional engineering activities, contributes to technology research, and performs sustaining work on existing products. The engineer collaborates with global teams to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance embedded platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software in C/C++ for real-time systems
- Develop detailed design documentation and contribute to system requirement specifications
- Support system architecture activities and contribute to technology conceptualization
- Assist in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities within embedded applications
- Support threat modeling activities for embedded components
- Participate in R&D initiatives and assist in evaluating emerging technologies
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance existing embedded products
- Collaborate with global and local engineering teams to align system development
- Participate in standards-based industry working groups when applicable
- Work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams to complete assignments
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS (MS/ME preferred) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Knowledge / experience developing embedded systems for high reliability applications (Industrial, Automotive, Medical, Defense, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and create innovative solutions
- Experience with industry best practices in embedded development and quality assurance
- Proven experience developing applications for embedded Linux in C/C++
- Experience with VHDL / Verilog for FPGA design
- Knowledge of web and cloud technologies
- Source level knowledge of Ethernet based and industrial communication protocols
- 3+ years’ experience leading new technology development and working within cross-functional groups to successfully bring products to market
