Role summary:
We are seeking a seasoned and execution driven VP, head of data platform to lead all the R&D tracks of the Data and Analytics organization in Payoneer. This role focuses on leading a complex data engineering organization at scale, driving delivery, operational excellence and cross-company enablement through world-class data platforms and tools.
This leader will serve as the engineering owner of our data platform, managing multiple data infra, data engineering and BI development teams, overseeing extensive resources, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable data products and services. This position requires a strong technical background combined with exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
He will also act as a key stakeholder in defining the architecture and strategic direction of our data infrastructure, pipelines, AI/ML infra and platforms to support the company's rapid growth and evolving business needs.

What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage the entire data platform, including:
- Real-Time Data & Streaming Infrastructure: Introduce and engineer robust data streaming infrastructures (e.g., using Kafka, Pub/Sub, Dataflow) to enable near-real-time data ingestion and scalable low-latency data serving, unlocking advanced analytics and critical use cases.
- Data engineering teams responsible for the data ingestion, transformation and delivery pipelines
- BI infra and development teams owning the cross-company consumption layer, including BI tools, BI data layers and dashboards
- Serve as the operational and delivery lead across the data platform, ensuring strong project execution, roadmap alignment and measurable business impact
- Data Engineering & Architecture Oversight: Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable data platforms, encompassing data lakes, data warehouses, and advanced data products, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and business requirements.
- Operational Excellence & Reliability: Establish and drive engineering operational excellence processes across data engineering, significantly improving data quality, availability, and system reliability. Implement frameworks for proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident management, reducing major incidents and ensuring continuous visibility into data flows.
- Advanced Data Observability: Integrate and leverage cutting-edge data observability solutions (e.g., Monte Carlo) to provide comprehensive visibility into data pipelines, enabling proactive detection and resolution of anomalies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate extensively with product, analytics, business, and infrastructure teams to align data strategies with overarching business priorities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products that meet diverse user needs.

Who you are?
- Extensive Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in the software industry, with a significant portion in data engineering, data platform design, and leadership roles.
- 5+ in senior R&D or VP-level roles, managing large cross-functional teams. Proven experience in leading and managing large engineering teams (e.g., 30-40+ engineers) and overseeing large budgets.
- Deep Technical Expertise-
- Profound knowledge of modern cloud data platforms such as GCP, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and Bigtable.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g., DBT, Dataform, Spark).
- Strong familiarity with real-time data processing and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, Flink, Dataflow, Kafka Streams, Storm).
- Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, Hadoop ecosystems (e.g., Cloudera)
- Experience in BI domains tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
- Familiarity with legacy ecosystem (MySQL, SSRS)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to establish and improve operational excellence processes, including proactive monitoring, alerting, incident management, and data observability solutions.

About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Product Manager to join Payoneer's Data Product Unit - the central hub for data product management across the company. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated squad responsible for data products serving the Finance organization, working closely with Finance stakeholders to design and deliver data products that support operational financial capabilities, book closing processes, regulatory reporting, and analytical needs.
You will lead the data product lifecycle end-to-end - from understanding business and regulatory challenges, defining analytical and operational needs, through designing scalable data models and assets, to delivering high-quality data products that empower the Finance organization.
As part of a globally distributed Finance Data Squad, you will collaborate closely with team members across multiple locations worldwide, as well as with the BI developers based alongside you in India. This role is ideal for a product-minded, business-oriented data person who is both strategic and hands-on, and who thrives on connecting complex financial business goals with technical execution.
What You'II Do:
- Own and drive your data product items within the Finance squad roadmap, aligned with strategic business goals, regulatory requirements, and SLA commitments - actively contributing to the squad's shared priorities and delivery goals.
- Work closely with Finance stakeholders to understand data needs, define and prioritize use cases, and develop solutions that improve data accessibility and usability.
- Translate business and regulatory objectives into clear data requirements, KPIs, and technical specifications (PRD and STT).

Who You Are:
- 5+ years of experience in data product management, data analytics, or data-driven product roles, with proven hands-on experience.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehouse architecture, and data pipeline design - experience with cloud platforms such as BigQuery required. (ETL Experience)
- Solid business acumen with a good understanding of financial data domains including financial reporting, revenue recognition, balances, and regulatory data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - fluent English, capable of bridging business and technical conversations clearly and effectively across a globally distributed team.
- Proficiency in SQL and practical data analysis - comfortable diving into data and validating results.
- Experience working within cross-functional delivery squads with Data Engineering and BI.
- Strong quality orientation with experience defining and enforcing data quality standards, SLA tracking, and issue management.
Must have:
- ETL Experience- data modeling, data warehouse architecture, and data pipeline design - experience with cloud platforms such as BigQuery required

Key Responsibilities
· Own ad-hoc analytical requests within a defined scope, delivering fast, reliable, and well-documented outputs.

Have you done this kind of stuff?
· 2–4 years as a Product/Data/Business Analyst (fintech a plus) and a relevant bachelor’s degree.
· Strong SQL with hands-on BigQuery experience, including optimizing complex queries and data processing.
· Experience designing analytics data models/layers and working with large, event-level datasets.
· Proficient in BI and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau) and building stakeholder-facing dashboards.
· Proven ability to define/track KPIs, translate ambiguous business questions into structured analysis, and communicate insights clearly.
· Interest or experience in building data foundations for AI-driven and self-service analytics; Python is a plus.

What You'll Do:
Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end BI and analytics solutions in the Google Cloud environment, primarily using BigQuery, dbt, and Looker, across the full lifecycle: data transformation, modeling, testing, and production deployment.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including defining data models, establishing relationships between data entities, and incorporating business logic into the analytical layer.
Lead complex BI initiatives end-to-end, including breaking down work into manageable tasks, driving execution, and collaborating closely with other developers and stakeholders.

- Orchestration Across Data Functions – Coordinate ingestion, modeling, reporting, data product work, and governance; remove blockers and ensure seamless collaboration with global teams.
- Data Product & Requirements Management – Translate business needs into scoped data requirements; ensure consistent definitions, modeling standards, and high-quality outputs.
- Governance, Quality & Compliance – Enforce data governance, documentation, PII and audit processes; ensure India deliverables meet data quality and compliance expectations.
- Modernization & Platform Alignment – Lead India execution for cloud migration, Looker rollout, semantic layer, and event framework adoption; drive adherence to modern best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with product, engineering, compliance, and domain leaders; communicate progress, risks, and capacity clearly across global forums.
What We're Looking For:
- 8–12+ years in Data/Analytics with 4+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong background in BI, Data Engineering, or Data Product Management.
- Experience leading cross-functional data teams in global/matrix setups.
- Hands-on knowledge of modern data stacks (BigQuery, Looker).
- Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to drive structure, alignment, and predictable delivery.
Nice to have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with AI tools.
- Proficiency in data modeling techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of the payments industry.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering/information systems or equivalent.
