Position Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, provides enterprise-level electrical engineering expertise across Origis Energy’s utility-scale solar and energy storage portfolio. This role is responsible for electrical system engineering, including inverter-based resources, with accountability for inverter application, performance, and lifecycle support as an integral part of overall plant electrical design and operation.
The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a critical role in setting technical direction, maintaining standards, managing technical risk, and supporting project execution from early development through construction, commissioning, and long-term operations. This position is a regular, full-time role based in our Austin, TX office, and is eligible for Origis Energy’s comprehensive employee benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
Specifications and Standards
- Serve as Origis Energy’s electrical engineering technical authority, with primary ownership of inverter-related standards and specifications and broader oversight of electrical system design criteria.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams to develop, maintain, and continuously improve electrical and inverter technical specifications, design standards, and guidelines.
- Support compliance with applicable reliability and grid requirements, including NERC reliability standards as applicable to inverter-based resources and plant electrical systems.
Supply Chain & AVL
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to establish, maintain, and technically qualify Approved Vendor Lists (AVL) for inverters and key electrical equipment.
- Support technical evaluations of electrical equipment vendors and emerging technologies.
OEM & External Relationships
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with inverter OEM sales, engineering, service, and warranty teams.
- Represent Origis Energy in technical discussions with EPCs, OEMs, utilities, consultants, and independent engineers.
Technology & Engineering
- Act as the primary subject matter expert for inverter technology, power electronics, and inverter-based resource behavior for PV and BESS plants.
- Provide technical leadership on inverter-based resource capabilities related to reactive power, voltage regulation, frequency response, and grid-support performance in accordance with utility, interconnection, and reliability requirements.
- Evaluate inverter technologies, control modes, and electrical system configurations for applicability, performance, and risk across the portfolio.
- Provide technical review and guidance on electrical system designs including single-line diagrams, DC string and collection systems, inverter integration, MV and LV collection systems, grounding, transformers, and overall plant electrical architecture.
Construction and Commissioning
- Support construction teams by advising on inverter installation, commissioning plans, testing procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Review commissioning results and support resolution of inverter and electrical system issues during startup.
Operations and Performance
- Work closely with Operations, Asset Management, EPCs, and OEMs to troubleshoot and resolve inverter and electrical system issues.
- Support root-cause analyses for inverter and electrical system failures or underperformance.
Training and Knowledge Sharing
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and deliver inverter and electrical system training for engineering, construction, and operations personnel.
- Share lessons learned and best practices across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects, with strong expertise in inverter-based systems.
- Deep understanding of inverter technology, power electronics, and utility-scale electrical systems.
- Experience supporting projects across development, engineering, construction, and operations.
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, standards, and utility requirements (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NABCEP, manufacturer-specific) are a plus.

Position Description
The Director Project Development, Data Centers, reporting to the SVP, Project Development, will support the origination and execution of data center infrastructure and utility-scale solar projects. This role will work across the full development lifecycle - originating, evaluating, and advancing data center land sites through land control, entitlements, permitting, and infrastructure readiness, culminating in sale and handover to third‑party data center developers. The primary objective is to drive pipeline growth and successful project execution across data center land development and utility‑scale solar and energy storage.

Key Responsibilities
Data Center Development
- Originate, evaluate, and advance data center land sites from inception through the development stage, including site control, zoning, entitlements, permitting, and infrastructure readiness, with the objective of preparing sites for sale to third‑party data center developers.
- Coordination with origination, engineering, legal, finance and other commercial teams to advance project from inception to NTP.
- Lead site-level diligence for data center land opportunities, including land use and zoning, environmental constraints, access, utility availability, water considerations, transmission proximity, and infrastructure constraints.
- Develop and execute land acquisition strategies, including negotiating and managing options, leases, purchase agreements, easements, title, and survey, in coordination with legal and real estate teams.
- Advance entitlement and permitting pathways (rezoning, site plan approvals, conditional/special use permits, and other local/state approvals) to deliver development‑ready sites at handover.
- Coordinate handover packages for buyers, including development documentation, permits, studies, interconnection status, and critical path summaries.
Due Diligence, Transactions, Portfolio Management
- Support development‑related due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships, including environmental, geotechnical, title/survey, permitting, and interconnection reviews.
- Compile and synthesize development inputs for investment memoranda, site sale materials, and leadership updates.
- Form and lead comprehensive project teams using Origis Tier 1 consultants to conduct early‑stage risk analysis and advance development efficiently.
- Manage vendors and project budgets through the SAP system, ensuring cost control and schedule discipline.
- Represent Origis in meetings with utilities, permitting authorities, community stakeholders, consultants, and counterparties.
Interconnection, Utilities & Infrastructure
- Evaluate transmission grids and land constraints to identify and recommend optimal sites for data center land development and co‑located or adjacent energy opportunities.
- Interface with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, municipalities, and other regulatory entities regarding transmission, distribution, interconnection and service agreements
- Work closely with early‑stage interconnection teams to assist with interconnection applications, study management, and milestone tracking through LGIA execution, where applicable to land value and marketability.
- Assess infrastructure readiness (electric, water, gas where applicable, access roads, fiber) and identify gaps or mitigation strategies to improve site attractiveness to buyers.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS and/or BA degree required, MBA is preferred
- 5+ years of relevant utility-scale project development experience.
- Deep understanding of the U.S. utility‑scale solar and energy storage markets; familiarity with data center land development trends is required.
- Demonstrated experience advancing projects through site origination, land control, entitlements, permitting and interconnection; experience with interconnection processes from application through LGIA finalization.
- Strong familiarity and knowledge of development tools and value drivers, including grid analysis, interconnection studies, permitting, and financial model impacts.
- Full-spectrum knowledge of solar development and data center siting requirements and land-based development considerations.
- High comfort level in landowner negotiations and managing real estate documentation.

Position Description
The Director Origination position, reporting to the Senior Director Business Development, will drive the company’s growth as part of the National Corporate Origination team, responsible for building a strategic plan for the U.S. market and executing on the plan by managing and growing key relationships with large, strategic corporate customers, consultants, and aggregators. The role involves working across all business units, including project development, investment, EPC, interconnection, and M&A, to develop clean energy solutions that enable our strategic customers to meet their sustainability goals via PPAs or other types of investments. Experience with growing strategic partnerships, power purchase agreement negotiations, comfort, and experience with being the face of the company at customer meetings with an enthusiasm to build customer solutions, a strong knowledge of renewable project development, and customer relationship management is required. This role may also support Origination for Origis with Utilities, Municipalities, and Cooperatives across the various markets in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead deals and opportunities from start to finish (from bidding and initial approvals to negotiating terms with the customer to closing the deal)
- Cultivate, build, and strengthen our relationships with corporate and strategic customers as well as Utility, Muni, Coop customers to create opportunities for offtake potential and/or project development.
- Define and execute the market-specific growth strategy by prospecting, relationship building, and identifying clean energy solutions to meet customer sustainability goals.
- Prepare RFP and bi-lateral proposals for utility scale solar and energy storage projects.
- Negotiate term sheets, MOUs, power purchase agreements, and other commercial agreements with the necessary support and oversight of executive management.
- Have a working knowledge of solar and energy storage project development, including land, permitting, and interconnection processes.
- Understanding ESG goals and activities for Origis as well as for customers
- Follow project development activities and maturity for all projects proposed to customers.
- Manage vendors and project budgets through SAP system.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS and/or BA, MBA preferred.
- Experience and deep understanding of the U.S. utility scale solar and energy storage markets (strong preference for experience in ERCOT, MISO, PJM and/or SERC)

- 3-10+ years of increasingly progressive origination experience
- Experience in negotiating and closing PPAs and/or VPPAs.

Origis Energy is looking for an experienced Origination Manager or Director, Capacity and Energy Storage to join our team. This person will join and support an extremely experienced team with the main objective of driving additional pipeline growth and project successes in both utility scale solar and energy storage Experience with capacity markets, ancillary services value, energy arbitrage, and other energy storage-driven products, customer negotiations, comfort and experience with being the face of the company at customer meetings with an enthusiasm and drive to build customer solutions, a deep knowledge of grid analysis and technical energy storage expertise is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and grow strategic relationships with investor‑owned utilities, electric cooperatives, hypescalers, power traders, and municipal utilities, positioning the company as a long‑term partner for grid‑scale solar and energy storage solutions.
- Support battery storage commercial execution across a multi‑state territory, with accountability for market entry, deal flow, and customer development.
- Drive revenue by originating and supporting RFP responses and bilateral transactions for solar‑plus‑storage, surplus storage, and standalone BESS projects—from initial engagement through commercial alignment and Capacity Agreement/Toll negotiations.
- Identify, evaluate, and unlock new markets and products, delivering clear, investment‑ready recommendations to senior leadership on where to deploy capital and secure high‑value BESS opportunities.
- Leverage deep expertise in energy storage systems and optimization to articulate capacity value, grid benefits, and commercial upside to utility and regulatory stakeholders.
- Support commercial negotiations for PPAs and capacity structures, contributing to pricing strategy, risk allocation, and contract positioning.
- Navigate interconnection and deliverability considerations to ensure projects are commercially viable and executable in target markets.
- Manage external vendors and development budgets, maintaining commercial discipline and cost control through internal reporting systems.

The Director of Origination, reporting to the Senior Director Origination, will play a key role in identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within the Central region (MISO/SPP), contributing to the growth and expansion of our renewable energy portfolio.
The Director of Origination will lead customer negotiations, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and must be comfortable serving as the face of the company in customer meetings. A strong enthusiasm for building customer-focused solutions is essential. Additionally, experience with project pricing, project modeling, reporting, proposal writing, and overall knowledge of the renewable project development life cycle is required.

Key Responsibilities
Market Research and Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential business opportunities and market trends in the renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on solar and battery storage technologies.
- Analyze market data, industry reports, and competitor strategies to inform business development strategies and decision-making processes.
Lead Generation and Prospecting
- Identify and qualify potential leads and prospects within the Central region (MISO/SPP), including utilities, municipalities, commercial entities, and other stakeholders interested in renewable energy solutions. Target energy off-takers include Investor-owned utilities, Municipalities, Energy Cooperatives, and C&I counterparties.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of leads and opportunities, leveraging various channels such as networking events, industry conferences, and online platforms.
Relationship Building and Networking
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including utility executives, government officials, project developers, and industry partners, to facilitate collaboration and partnership opportunities.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our renewable energy offerings and establish our presence in the market.
Proposal Development and Presentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized proposals and presentations tailored to the needs and requirements of prospective clients.
- Present proposals to potential clients, effectively communicating the value proposition of our renewable energy solutions and addressing any questions or concerns.
Deal Negotiation and Closing
- Negotiate terms and agreements with clients, including pricing, contract terms, and service-level agreements, to secure new business opportunities.
- Work closely with legal and finance teams to finalize contracts and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Market Expansion and Growth
- Identify opportunities for market expansion and growth within the Central region, including geographic expansion, new market segments, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive business growth and achieve revenue targets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience and general understanding of the U.S. utility scale solar and energy storage markets; knowledge of the energy industry and familiarity with solar and battery storage technologies is preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience working for a developer of renewable energy (wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, hydro), energy storage, and/or thermal generation; working for an energy, oil and gas organization; investor-owned utility; or working for a renewable energy buyer with experience working with renewable project developers or leading development activities at the utility
- Prior experience in business development, finance, sales, or related fields is a plus.
