This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, independent clinical biostatistician to advance adoption of Natera’s oncology portfolio of cutting-edge molecular diagnostic tests. As a Lead Biostatistician, you will independently lead the design, analysis, and reporting for multiple practice-changing oncology clinical trials. You will propose efficient, fit-for-purpose study designs with broad impact across the oncology portfolio.
The ideal candidate brings deep statistical expertise, strong scientific communication skills, and a proven track record of applying innovative methodologies to oncology clinical trial design in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Study Design and Statistical Strategy: Lead the statistical design and analytical planning for oncology clinical utility studies. Provide technical expertise in complex study design methodologies and data analyses. Propose and justify efficient study designs tailored to complex oncology use cases.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as study statistician for multiple studies. Collaborate with clinical, medical, and translational partners to influence study planning, development, and execution. Identify risks, proactively communicate concerns, and champion solutions to interdisciplinary teams and executive leaders.
Documentation and Reporting: Author and review high-quality statistical deliverables, including statistical analysis plans (SAPs), and reports (TLFs, CSRs, publications) for cross-functional collaborators and stakeholders.
Innovation and Improvement: Recommend and apply novel statistical approaches where appropriate. Mentor early career statisticians and support continuous improvement of departmental processes, tools, and templates to enhance team efficiency and analytical rigor. Collaborate on manuscripts for publications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (Ph.D. preferred).
4+ years of experience in clinical trial biostatistics.
Strong expertise in time-to-event analysis, including handling of censoring, competing risks, and advanced survival modeling approaches commonly used in oncology.
Expertise with innovative study design (e.g. adaptive and biomarker-informed designs), power calculations, and endpoint evaluation.
Working knowledge of ICH and GCP guidelines as well as CDISC standards (e.g. SDTM, ADaM).
Proficient in R.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Expert-level ability to independently design clinical studies, grounded in deep domain knowledge and a nuanced understanding of complex, oncology-specific challenges.
Experience with biomarker enabled clinical study designs, sample size determination, and endpoint evaluation.
Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with collaborators from diverse technical backgrounds.
Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Natera is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Scientist to join our Molecular Biology Research Team. The Staff Scientist will conduct new product research to develop/refine methylation-based next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies that advance Natera’s oncology diagnostic capabilities. In this role, you will independently lead projects to design, prototype, and optimize novel NGS methods and collaborate cross-functionally to move concepts from ideation to implementation. Lead and manage the development of innovative NGS-based diagnostic assays from feasibility through optimization.

Coordinate cross-functional efforts to meet milestones and collaborate closely with bioinformatics, statistics, and data science teams to ensure robust experimental design and data analysis.

Communicate progress regularly to stakeholders, including departmental meetings and senior leadership.
Contribute to risk management, strategy development, and continuous improvement of scientific workflows.
Ph.D. in molecular biology, genomics, or a closely related field.
Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, or 2+ years postdoctoral research with 6+ years in industry.

Extensive hands-on experience with NGS platforms, including sample prep, library prep, target enrichment (e.g., multiplex PCR, hybrid capture), and sequencing.
Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques related to DNA/RNA manipulation and epigenomics/methylation detection.
Proficient in statistical analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, R, or Python; familiarity with bioinformatics workflows is a plus.
Ability to translate complex biological questions into actionable experiments and scalable solutions.
Experience writing study plans, SOPs, and detailed reports.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Natera’s Statistical Programming team, specifically focused on advancing our oncology portfolio through high-impact, practice-changing clinical trials. As a Director, you will provide strategic and technical oversight for all statistical programming activities supporting the clinical validation and utility of Natera’s cutting-edge molecular diagnostics tests. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and direct a high-performing statistical programming team, fostering technical excellence and overseeing their professional development.
Functional Oversight: Provide strategic direction and standards for the programming function, securing alignment with oncology clinical development goals and department infrastructure needs.
Submission Leadership: Act as the primary programming lead for regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k), CTA/CDx, and PMA), ensuring all deliverables meet rigorous global standards.
Analysis & Reporting: Direct the generation and validation of analysis datasets and TLFs, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance with ICH, GCP, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
Development, Standards, and Validation: Lead the development, validation, and review of efficient R code to support statistical analyses and deliverables. Enforce departmental standards for programming maintenance and code integrity. Facilitate cross-functional standards (eCRF design, DMPs).

Natera is seeking a skilled Senior Scientist to join our Molecular Biology Research Team. As a Senior Scientist, you will design and execute epigenomics-based research to develop new methods that expand Natera’s oncology product portfolio. Successful candidates must have NGS experience with a strong background in molecular biology and methylation detection techniques.
Contribute substantially and intellectually to research and development.
Lead projects to create novel methylation-based diagnostic tests; including planning, testing, protocol development, optimization, and transfer to Development.
Responsible for maintaining a project timeline, including deliverable planning/ management and communication of progress directly with manager and colleagues.
Independently develop plans, generate and advance new ideas.
Design and execute high complexity experiments and perform basic data analysis as needed (e.g. R, JMP, Excel).
Coordinate complex analyses with statistics and bioinformatics teams.
Actively interact and communicate with interdepartmental teams such as Program Management, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Engineering, Translational Science, and Product.
May manage junior scientists and research associates.
Document research progress under a Quality Management System.
Ph.D. in molecular biology, genomics, or a closely related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, or successful postdoctoral research with 3+ years in industry.
Extensive hands-on experience with NGS methods, including sample prep, library prep, target enrichment (e.g., multiplex PCR, hybrid capture), and sequencing.
Experience with epigenomic/methylation techniques and cfDNA is a plus.
A background in oncology is strongly preferred.
Must have strong research skills and sound scientific judgement with a proven track record of conceptualizing, prototyping, and advancing NGS technologies from initial concept to product development.
Significant experience in developing and executing automated assays on liquid handlers (eg. Hamilton, Tecan)
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and contribute strategically to a team-driven research environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, R, or Python; familiarity with bioinformatics workflows is a plus
Skilled at writing clear plans, reports and SOPs.

POSITION TITLE: Genomics Data System DevOps Engineer

At Natera we build fast, reliable and scalable data systems that are easy to deploy, maintain, and manage. Our Data Science Production Engineering (DSPE) team is building such a Genomics Data System, to support our R&D and Data Science work.
As a DevOps Engineer contractor working on this Genomics Data System, your responsibilities will include the following:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with the Data Science Production Engineering team, to design and develop a Genomics Data System.
Develop genomics data file retrieve and archive solutions from various data sources and platforms, e.g., DNAnexus, AWS HealthOmics.
Develop databases that record and manage metadata of the genomics data files.
Develop automation solutions for genomics data file retrieval and metadata management.
Test, deploy, and maintain such systems.
Write technical documentations for such systems.
Provide training and technical support for other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimal Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
Minimal 7 years of relevant industry experience for candidates with only a Bachelor's Degree. Minimal 5 years of relevant industry experience for candidates with a Master's Degree. Minimal 3 years of relevant industry experience for candidates with a Doctorate degree.
Excellent Python programming skills, with cloud application and/or automation system development experience.
