Lyra Tech Group is looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to work directly inside our clients' businesses — rolling up your sleeves to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions that create real operational impact. You won't be sitting behind a desk writing specs; you'll be on-site at small and mid-size businesses diagnosing inefficiencies, earning stakeholder trust, and shipping production-grade AI agents, automated workflows, and engineering solutions that change how these organizations run. This is a hands-on, client-facing engineering role built for someone who is as comfortable presenting to a business owner as they are writing Python.
Your work as a Forward Deployment AI Engineer will include several components:
• Client Acquisition & Relationship Management: Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities through
• Embed directly with clients to discover operational pain points, map workflows, and identify high-ROI opportunities for AI and automation
• Design and build AI agents using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or similar — including tool-use, memory, and multi-agent orchestration patterns
• Develop AI-powered workflows that integrate with clients' existing systems (CRMs, ERPs, cloud platforms, communication tools, etc.)
• Engineer automation solutions across areas such as document processing, data extraction, reporting, customer communication, and internal operations
• Own the full delivery lifecycle — from scoping and architecture to build, testing, handoff, and lightweight documentation
• Train and enable client teams to maintain and iterate on solutions post-deployment
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor, translating complex AI capabilities into clear business value for non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute internally by codifying reusable components, playbooks, and delivery templates that scale across the practice
Our ideal Forward Deployment AI Engineer has the following qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
• 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or a technical consulting role
• Working proficiency in Python and familiarity with REST APIs and cloud services
• Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar)
• Understanding of prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and agentic workflow patterns
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-moving client environments
• Strong communication skills — you can explain a vector database to a CFO without losing them
• Willingness to travel regularly to client sites in the Chicagoland area (estimated 40–60%)
Preferred
• Experience with workflow automation platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar)
• Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma) and embedding pipelines
• Exposure to low-code/no-code tools alongside custom-code solutions
• Prior client-facing, consulting, or forward-deployed engineering experience
• Experience working with SMB clients across industries such as professional services, healthcare, logistics, or retail
Who Thrives in This Role
You're a builder who gets energy from solving real problems for real people. You're not waiting for perfect requirements — you ask good questions, form a hypothesis, and get something in front of stakeholders fast. You're comfortable being the most technical person in the room for one hour and a junior learner the next. You care about the outcome, not just the code.
The targeted salary for this role is $120,000-$150,000 per year and will operate out of the Naperville office on a hybrid basis.

The Director of Client Success is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the entire lifecycle of client evolution—from the strategic roadmap to the technical implementation. You will oversee two critical verticals: the vCIO Organization (Client Strategy) and the Projects Organization (Technical Delivery). Your mission is to ensure that the "promises" made during strategic planning are successfully "delivered" by the engineering team. You will be responsible for client retention, project revenue, resource utilization, and ensuring a seamless feedback loop between strategy and execution.
Your work as a Director of Client Success has several components:
Departmental Leadership & Alignment
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on technical accuracy and client advocacy.

Client Strategy (vCIO Oversight)
• Ensure vCIOs are conducting effective Strategic Business Reviews (SBRs) that result in actionable, budgeted IT roadmaps.
• Challenge the vCIO team to elevate their impact beyond standard lifecycle management, pushing for digital transformation initiatives.
• Review client satisfaction metrics and retention rates, proactively addressing at-risk accounts.
• Define and enforce performance KPIs for the vCIO and project teams.
Service Delivery (Projects Execution & PMO)
• Oversee the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Manage resource capacity planning to prevent talent burnout while maximizing billable hours.
• Review and approve Scopes of Work (SOWs) to ensure technical feasibility and profitability before they are presented to clients.
• Enforce quality assurance standards for critical implementations (cloud migrations, server deployments, security rollouts).
Our ideal Director of Client Success has the following qualifications:
Experience:
• 7+ years of experience in the IT Managed Services (MSP) industry is required.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams, account management teams, or professional services.
• Previous experience as a vCIO or Project Director is highly preferred.
Skills:
• Deep understanding of the MSP business model (how Strategy drives Projects).
• Proficiency with PSA tools and quoting platforms.
• Strong financial acumen (understanding P&L, margins, and labor burden).
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value for clients.
Personal Attributes:
• The Strategist: You can look at a client's business goals and understand exactly what technology is required to get them there.
• The Executor: You understand that a strategy is only as good as its implementation.
• The Diplomat: You can navigate the natural tension between "what the client wants" and "what the engineering team can deliver”.
The target salary for this role is $160,000-$175,000 per year and will operate in a hybrid model out of the New York City office. If you're motivated by meaningful client relationships, strategic selling, and a dynamic work environment, we want to hear from you!

continuity requirements
• Travel locally to client sites as needed
What We Are Looking For
Experience - Required:
• 5+ years of project delivery and engineering experience within a Managed Service

delivery backgrounds are unlikely to be a strong fit.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with the Microsoft platform (Active Directory, Azure,
Microsoft 365, Windows Server, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead and execute IT projects from scoping
through delivery
Experience - Preferred:
• Prior mid-market or IT consulting experience
• Solutions Architect experience
• Cyber security experience
• Technical certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Dell, VMware, CompTIA, etc.) are a plus
Skills and Attributes:
• Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical
concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Internally motivated with a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes
independently and as part of a team
• Organized, analytical, and comfortable managing competing project priorities
• Genuine commitment to client service and client experience
• A degree in a technology or business-related field is preferred
Location Requirement
This is a full-time, onsite role based in our Cleveland, Ohio office, with regular engagement at
local client sites. The position requires consistent in-person collaboration and client presence.
Candidates must be local to the Cleveland area or willing to relocate. Remote or hybrid work
arrangements are not available.
Salary: $80,000-$120,000

for a role where your technical judgment and client presence matter, we would like to hear from
you. This position offers the opportunity to own projects end to end, work directly with clients,
and be part of a team that values quality, accountability, and long-term outcomes.
