About the Role
Instead is growing fast — with teams across the US and India — and we need a people leader who can own the full scope of People Operations globally. Based out of our Hyderabad office, you’ll be the driving force behind how we attract, retain, and enable world-class talent across all Instead locations. You’ll build and lead the People Operations function end-to-end: from talent acquisition and culture-building to HR operations, policy design, and organizational development. This is a high-impact, in-office leadership role for someone dynamic and ready to shape people strategy at a company that’s scaling rapidly across borders.
What You’ll Do
Global People Strategy
- Own and lead the People Operations function across all Instead locations (US and India), ensuring a consistent and high-quality employee experience globally.
- Talent Strategy: Build and lead a talent acquisition team to attract top-tier professionals in tax, tech, and ops across geographies.
- Organizational Development: Design org structures and talent strategies that support scale from 50 to 500+ employees across multiple offices and countries.
- Performance Management: Lead performance cycles, goal setting, and continuous feedback loops across all teams globally.
- Employer Branding: Strengthen Instead’s brand as an employer of choice in both the US and Indian talent markets.
- Business Partnership: Collaborate with leadership across the company to support people-related decisions, workforce planning, and change management.
Culture & Operations
- Drive Workplace Culture: Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned with Instead’s values across all offices.
- HR Operations & Compliance: Oversee daily HR operations globally — from onboarding to exit — ensuring legal and policy compliance in every jurisdiction we operate in.
- Policy Design: Create and implement global HR policies from scratch, navigating the nuances of a cross-border, early-stage environment.
- HR Tech & Systems: Manage tools and systems to ensure seamless HR service delivery and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Office & Team Expansion: Support expansion plans, including setup and hiring in new cities and regions.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel across offices in India and to the US as needed for team-building, hiring, and strategic alignment.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–7 years of experience in HR management, preferably in fast-growing startups or tech-enabled businesses with a global or cross-border workforce.
- Proven success aligning HR strategies with business goals and scaling organizations from ~50 to 500 employees.
- Experience building policies and people ops processes from the ground up across multiple geographies.
- Strong understanding of labor law in India (especially in the context of offshoring and tech/ITES industries), with exposure to or willingness to learn US employment practices.
- Track record of executing DEI initiatives and building positive, inclusive workplace cultures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders and leadership across time zones.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS, compliance, recruitment, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Ability to work full-time from our Hyderabad office, Monday–Friday, 2 PM–11 PM IST.
- Flexibility to travel as needed — across cities in India and to the US for strategic alignment and team-building.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in global or US-based companies with cross-border teams.
- Familiarity with tools like Deel, RazorpayX, Greenhouse, Notion, Slack, and Google Workspace.
- Exposure to tax, fintech, or accounting services industries.

What You'll Do
- Own and manage our AWS infrastructure across environments (staging, production, internal tools) for a high-availability tax platform
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud architectures aligned with SOC 2 and other compliance requirements
- Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (primarily Terraform) for repeatable, auditable deployments
- Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and release processes for our engineering teams
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across our services, networking, and data layers
- Drive observability and reliability through logging, metrics, alerting, and incident response practices
- Collaborate with engineering to design systems that are secure, cost-effective, and easy to operate in production
- Take ownership of core infrastructure components (VPCs, IAM, networking, storage, containers, etc.) and continuously improve them
What You'll Need
- 3+ years of hands-on experience managing production infrastructure in AWS
- Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code workflows
- Solid understanding of AWS core services (EC2, RDS, ECS/EKS or similar, S3, IAM, networking, security groups, load balancers)
- Experience operating and hardening Linux-based systems in production
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and deploying containerized workloads
- Experience working within security/compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar)
- Proven track record of owning systems end-to-end rather than isolated tasks
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and performance issues
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating closely with engineers and leadership

About the role
We're seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support our financial operations as we continue to scale our tax technology business. You'll work closely with our VP of Accounting to handle daily bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial reporting while supporting critical processes from sales operations to year-end tax preparation. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting, and building scalable financial processes that support our growing Instead platform and global team operations.
What you'll do
- Perform and review daily bookkeeping activities and account reconciliations
- Run weekly payroll processing and provide additional support with sales commission calculation processes
- Process travel and expense (T&E) reimbursements for team members
- Monitor accounts receivable on a daily basis and follow up with past due accounts
- Assist with finance systems to ensure accurate and efficient financial reporting
- Provide operational support for processing new sales transactions
- Assist in supporting our year-end tax process with our VP of Accounting and third-party tax attorneys
- Support various ad hoc projects including research, data collection, analysis, and coordination to ensure timely project completion
- Partner with our VP of Accounting to build and refine a repeatable monthly financial close process
What you'll need
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax preferred
- Advanced Google Suite skills (Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc.)
- Technical competence in bookkeeping systems and ability to build and read financial metric reports

About the role
At Instead, we’re unlocking millions in tax savings for businesses and individuals—and we’re looking for a creative and talented Product Designer who is eager to contribute to our mission. You’ll join forces with our Head of Design and US-based design team, product managers, and engineers to design and refine our flagship Instead platform—guiding taxpayers and tax advisors from tax strategy discovery through to filing their tax returns. About the role
We're seeking an experienced Product Manager to facilitate and manage projects from start to finish for our Instead product teams. Instead is our innovative tax technology platform with over 100+ tax strategies that helps clients identify and implement tax savings opportunities, guiding users through eligibility determination, savings calculations, and step-by-step implementation processes. You'll work closely with engineers, designers, and other product stakeholders to drive key features and improvements, coordinating seamlessly between our US product teams and India-based designers and engineers while engaging directly with customers to understand their needs and translate them into actionable product requirements.
What you'll do
- Build and facilitate product requirements documents with key stakeholders involved in product decisions
- Run daily standups with the India team and join US standups to coordinate between global teams
- Manage sprint planning and retrospectives with India team while coordinating alongside US teams
- Review quality assurance processes, test features before launch, and monitor live production performance
- Review customer requests and bugs, prioritizing them based on impact and business value
- Track product timelines and ensure teams stay on track with committed deliverables
- Identify and escalate issues blocking teams or personnel who need additional help, training, or project reassignment

About this role
We are looking for a great executive assistant to help provide support to key leadership in the United States. About the role
We're seeking an experienced IT Administrator to own and manage our complete IT infrastructure and support operations as we continue to scale our global team. You'll be responsible for ensuring seamless technology operations across our India and US offices, managing everything from user hardware deployment to security implementations and cloud administration. What you'll do
- Own our complete IT infrastructure and support operations including user hardware acquisition, imaging, deployment, and remote management
- Implement and maintain security measures including antivirus solutions and system updates
- Manage Single Sign-On implementation (Okta) and ongoing maintenance
- Administer gSuite and AWS for a limited set of services
- Provide comprehensive hardware and software support for internal users across global teams
- Develop and implement backup and recovery planning and procedures

What you'll need

What You'll Do
- Own and manage our AWS infrastructure across environments (staging, production, internal tools) for a high-availability tax platform
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud architectures aligned with SOC 2 and other compliance requirements
- Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (primarily Terraform) for repeatable, auditable deployments
- Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and release processes for our engineering teams

About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Tax Customer Support Lead to help clients discover tax savings through strategic planning and implementation using our platform — and to help guide and support members of our customer support team, including a small group based in India.
This role is ideal for someone who loves hands-on client work but is also ready to take on a leadership layer: helping set priorities, mentoring team members, and ensuring operational excellence. What you'll do

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented U.S Tax Analyst to drive tax form development and testing. You will play a vital role in creating and annotating tax forms, managing tax calculations, compliance, and contributing to the development of a cutting-edge tax software product. We’re seeking an experienced Director of Talent Acquisition to lead and scale our global recruiting function at Instead. We’re seeking an experienced Head of Data & Analytics to lead the systems, data, and reporting infrastructure that power Instead’s global operations. This role directly oversees IT Administration and Salesforce Billing Engineering, ensuring our technology stack runs securely, reliably, and at scale.

About the role
We're seeking an experienced Salesforce Billing Engineer to design, configure, and maintain our Salesforce environment with a focus on CPQ and Billing solutions. You'll be responsible for building robust API integrations between Salesforce and our Instead platform, optimizing our free trial product integration, and ensuring seamless billing operations. This technical role requires deep expertise in Salesforce development, particularly with Apex programming, while collaborating across Legal, Finance, IT, Marketing, Sales, and product teams to deliver comprehensive Salesforce solutions that support our growing tax technology business.
What You'll Do
- Develop using APEX language and build both sides of API endpoints to handle requests between Salesforce and our software
- Design, configure, test, and deploy robust Salesforce solutions while managing user setup, profiles, and roles

- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation covering processes, policies, configurations, and user guides
