The day-to-day

• Architect and implement AWS GovCloud infrastructure that meets CMMC Level 2 requirements and prepares us for certification.

• Create, manage, and execute on a roadmap for adopting, modifying, and deploying Helsing's infrastructure patterns and developer tooling. Work with the Core Infra and DevX teams to adopt or create what makes sense for our specific needs.

• Maintain Terraform and IaC tooling, manage Kubernetes workload infrastructure for builds and AI training, and co-develop Python and Rust based developer tools.

• Improve developer productivity by leveraging existing tools and creating new ones. Support DevOps and MLOps workflows, complete with CI/CD automation and CLI tooling.

• Work with vendors, partners, and service providers to integrate third-party tooling while maintaining our security and compliance requirements.

• As a senior member, you will help interview, onboard, and mentor new engineers. Over time, you will contribute to the growth and culture of the infrastructure teams.

You should apply if you

• Have deep experience with AWS, including designing and operating production infrastructure at scale. Experience with AWS GovCloud, or creating compliant AWS infrastructure, is a significant plus

• Are proficient with Kubernetes and have familiarity with Cloud-Native Technologies, like Helm, ArgoCD, or Flux

• Have strong Infrastructure as Code skills, ideally with Terraform, and can design modular, maintainable infrastructure that evolves with compliance requirements

• Lead the stand-up and scaling of US manufacturing operations, establishing production lines, workflows, quality systems, and facility infrastructure 

• Develop and execute the production strategy aligned with program milestones, government contract deliverables, and company growth objectives 

• Implement production processes for AI-enabled hardware systems, ensuring repeatability, quality, and compliance with defense manufacturing standards 

• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing production team — including manufacturing engineers, technicians, quality inspectors, and production planners — capable of supporting rapid growth 

• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, Contracts, and Finance to ensure production alignment on government contracts 

• Establish and manage quality management systems (QMS) compliant with AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable DoD manufacturing requirements 

• Own production KPIs and reporting, including yield, throughput, cost-per-unit, on-time delivery, and defect rates, and present board-level updates that drive executive decision-making 

• Collaborate with the supply chain and procurement teams to design cost-efficient sourcing strategies that satisfy federal and/or state procurement requirements, including managing tariff exposure on imported goods and materials  

• Ensure full compliance with SSA governance requirements, maintaining appropriate separation protocols while optimizing production operations across the organization  

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase production capacity 

• Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, tooling vendors, and facility partners to supplement and scale internal production capabilities 

• Support CAPEX planning and facility buildout in partnership with Finance, ensuring sound investment frameworks for equipment, tooling, and infrastructure  

• Ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance across all production environments, including OSHA, environmental, and cleared facility requirements

• You have 10+ years of progressive manufacturing/production experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing production operations 

• You've operated within the Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, or National Security technology sector and understand the nuances of government contract deliverables, ITAR/EAR, and defense manufacturing requirements 

• You've built or scaled production functions at a startup or high-growth company and know how to balance scrappiness with rigor

• Cloud Infrastructure Security Design: Architect and implement secure cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry-standard security frameworks (NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001).

• Security Automation & DevSecOps: Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate security configurations and embed security scanning (SAST/DAST/IaC scanning) into CI/CD pipelines.

• Continuous Monitoring & Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and interpret logs (AWS CloudTrail, Azure Monitor) for signs of suspicious activity, utilizing SIEM systems (Splunk, Elastic) and CSPM tools (Wiz, Prisma).

• Threat Detection & Incident Response: Investigate and respond to security incidents, performing forensic analysis on cloud-native services (containers, serverless functions) to mitigate threats.

• Identity & Access Management (IAM): Design and manage zero-trust IAM policies, role-based access controls (RBAC), and multi-factor authentication (MFA) to prevent unauthorized access.

• Vulnerability Management: Perform regular penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and configuration audits of virtual machines, containers, applications, and network components.

• Security Policy Enforcement: Develop and document cloud security policies, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements (NIST, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).

• Possess 3–5+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 2+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Serve as the Facility Security Officer (FSO) for Helsing's US subsidiary, maintaining full compliance with NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), DCSA requirements, and all obligations under the company's Special Security Agreement (SSA) 
• Own and manage all aspects of facilities security, including physical security plans, access controls, intrusion detection systems, and classified space (SCIF/SAPF) accreditation and operations 
• Lead the organization's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) readiness and compliance efforts, partnering cross-functionally with IT, engineering, and program teams to achieve and maintain required certification levels 
• Manage the COMSEC program end-to-end, including account management, key material handling, destruction, and coordination with controlling authorities 
• Ensure full compliance with SSA governance requirements, maintaining appropriate separation protocols, Technology Control Plans (TCPs), and Electronic Communications Plans (ECPs) while enabling operational efficiency across the organization 
• Administer personnel security processes including clearance sponsorship, processing, briefings, debriefings, and continuous vetting monitoring through DISS and related systems 
• Develop and deliver a robust security education, training, and awareness (SETA) program that builds a culture of security consciousness across all levels of the organization 
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), the SSA Government Security Committee (GSC), and other cognizant security authorities

• Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support rapid scaling and strategic objectives for the US Subsidiary of Helsing 
• Work with the Global Finance team to design scalable processes the foster connectivity and alignment between geographies

• Lead the identification and capture of federal, state, and local incentives tied to manufacturing CAPEX and OPEX—including accelerated depreciation, R&D credits, and NOL strategies 
• Partner with technical and procurement teams to design cost-efficient U.S. supply chain, intercompany, and contracting structures that satisfy federal and/or state procurement requirements, while developing strategies to recover or minimize tariff exposure on imported goods and materials 
• Serve as the financial lead for U.S. manufacturing stand-up, establishing sound CAPEX/OPEX, procurement, and intercompany frameworks from inception 
• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team capable of supporting our growth trajectory 
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Contracts, and Program Management to ensure financial alignment on government and commercial contracts 
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners; oversee annual audits and regulatory filings 
• Support M&A activities including due diligence, financial modeling, integration planning, and post-acquisition optimization

The day-to-day

• Lead the full proposal lifecycle including capture planning, bid/no-bid decisions, storyboarding, content development, review governance, and on-time submission of compliant, compelling proposals 

• Orchestrate cross-functional bid teams — bringing together engineers, program managers, business development, and subject matter experts — driving accountability and maintaining momentum across concurrent pursuits 

• Develop win themes, discriminators, and proposal narratives that translate complex AI and software capabilities into clear, persuasive content tailored to defense evaluators 

• Partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Program Management, Engineering, and Finance to ensure strategic and commercial alignment on every pursuit  

• Build and refine scalable bid management processes, tools, and content libraries that support rapid growth without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy 

• Manage proposal compliance, ensuring all submissions meet procurement requirements, evaluation criteria, and internal governance standards across relevant frameworks (e.g., FAR/DFARS, Commercial Solutions Openings, Other Transaction Agreements) 

• Coordinate pricing and commercial strategy with Finance and Contracts teams to develop competitive, defensible cost volumes and pricing architectures 

• Conduct post-submission debriefs and win/loss analyses, feeding insights back into the organization to continuously improve win rates 

• Support the development of capture strategies and pre-RFP engagement plans that improve competitive positioning before formal solicitations are released

• Experience working with or within US DoD procurement organizations
