Job Description

Fulfil is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join us at a fast-paced startup in a multi-disciplinary environment supporting our contract manufacturing network and supplier ecosystem. In this role, you will be responsible for driving supplier quality execution, issue resolution, deviation management, and implementation control across suppliers and Fulfil build sites.

The SQE plays a key role in preventing quality escapes, supporting manufacturing readiness, and ensuring changes and corrective actions are properly implemented across the supply base.

In This Role You Will

• Own and manage the end-to-end NCR process, including initiation, supplier communication, containment verification, and closure tracking
• Lead and validate 8D problem-solving activities, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
• Drive supplier accountability through structured follow-up, data review, and escalation when needed
• Triage and manage incoming quality issues from Fulfil sites, ensuring timely containment and resolution
• Support incoming inspection and on-site quality checks for parts, subassemblies, and systems arriving at Fulfil facilities
• Maintain deviation tracking systems and support proper documentation, approvals, and implementation visibility
• Support ECO implementation at suppliers by verifying deployment, execution, and revision control
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, NPI, Supply Chain, Build, and Operations teams to ensure alignment across supplier activities
• Participate in supplier audits, manufacturing readiness reviews, and process validation activities
• Maintain and improve quality trackers, dashboards, workflows, and documentation to support scaling operations
• Identify recurring issues and systemic risks across suppliers and proactively drive preventive actions
• Support supplier quality activities at contract manufacturers and Fulfil sites as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Process Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering
• Hands-on experience with NCR management, 8D methodology, and root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and supplier quality systems
• Familiarity with quality systems and standards (ISO 9001 or similar)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open issues in parallel
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving processes and priorities
• Proficiency with Excel, reporting tools, and quality documentation systems
• Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites and Fulfil facilities

Your Responsibilities

As a Safety and Compliance Engineer you will support the effort to ensure Fulfil automation equipment is designed, tested, and deployed to be safe and compliant with applicable US and international standards, our equipment is deployed in a safe manner to that design, and help drive continued development of Fulfil safety culture. In this role you will work closely with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and systems engineers and the deployment and operations teams. You will participate in certification efforts with external agencies and serve as an internal and client-facing subject matter expert. In this role you will:

• Support compliance effort to regulations, standards and guidelines established by ANSI, ISO, OSHA, NSF, UL and other applicable regulatory agencies, throughout the product life cycle
• Interface with NRTL / external agencies for certification, specifying and performing testing, defining which standards are appropriate, and clarifying intent of standards
• Work with customers to validate Fulfil equipment meets their internal safety requirements and procedures
• Help develop functional safety architectures for new automation systems and design upgrades to existing systems
• Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to ensure they meet safety requirements and are designed for operator safety
• Perform, and assist others in performing, risk assessments on equipment and processes
• Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment
• Participate in safety system implementation at new sites and performance of on-site equipment safety testing and validation
• Work with operations to write safety manuals for Fulfil equipment that will be provided to customers

What We’re Looking For

• B.S in a hardware related engineering discipline, e.g. electrical, mechanical, industrial, process, manufacturing etc.
• 1-5 years of experience working in automation and participated in or interacted with safety system design
• Basic understanding of engineering safety principles and safety standards (UL, ANSI, ISO)
• Hands on aptitude – able to dive in and implement and troubleshoot safety systems
• Strong technical documentation skills

• Manage, mentor, and lead a team of Maintenance Technicians to achieve facility metrics

Job Description:

Fulfil is hiring an Electrical Technician to support the build, test, installation, and maintenance of our R&D electrical systems for our proprietary industrial automation and robotics equipment. In this role, you will work closely with Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Operations teams to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical hardware primarily in engineering environments, with occasional support at contract manufacturers or customer sites. This is a hands-on position critical to ensuring reliable, safe, and high-quality electrical systems.

In This Role You Will

• Build, wire, and assemble electrical panels, control cabinets, and automation equipment
• Build, modify, and repair cable assemblies and wire harnesses with both crimped and soldered connections
• Assemble, solder, rework, and inspect PCBAs in accordance with IPC standards and internal work instructions
• Perform electrical system bring-up, testing, and validation at the bench and system levels
• Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical issues and assist with root cause analysis
• Follow and promote safe work practices when working with hazardous voltages
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to provide feedback on design quality, manufacturability, and serviceability
• Assist with documentation of build procedures, test results, and field issues
• Support contract manufacturers and internal production builds as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Technical degree, certification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field
• 8+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical technician in industrial, automation, robotics, capital equipment R&D, or manufacturing environments
• IPC certification for PCBAs (IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-7711/7721)
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or demonstrated experience building cable and wire harness assemblies to industry standards
• Demonstrated proficiency in hand soldering, rework, and inspection of through-hole and surface-mount components
• Experience wiring control panels, cabinets, and industrial equipment
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Experience working with PCBAs, including assembly, test, and debug support

Backed by world-class investors and led by a seasoned team, we are hiring a Product Onboarding Specialist to capture & interpret product level details for our automated high speed grocery fulfillment system. In this role, you’ll serve as the bridge between the merchandising, engineering and operations teams — ensuring safe, reliable, high-performance system operation.

Unique opportunity: Pre-launch, take part in site deployment, from bring-up and commissioning, through partner handover and site acceptance testing, into full production.

Your Responsibilities

As an Operations Onboarding Associate, you will play a key role in preparing retail products for use in Fulfil’s automated facility. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role focused on accurately measuring, documenting, testing, and validating products so they can be reliably handled by our automation system.

You will be responsible for item-level product setup, including capturing product data, evaluating how products fit within their assigned storage environments and identifying any issues that could impact automation performance. Your work will directly support the successful deployment and operation of a new automated facility.

You will collaborate closely with Operators, Engineers, and cross-functional teams based in Silicon Valley to ensure products are onboarded accurately, processes are clearly documented, and operational launch timelines stay on track.

This role is ideal for someone with retail, grocery, warehouse, inventory, quality control, or operations experience who is highly accurate, comfortable with repetitive detail-oriented work, and excited to grow into a future Operator role.

What You’ll Do

Product Measurement & Data Capture

• Accurately measure retail products using approved tools and procedures.
• Capture item-level data such as dimensions, weight, orientation, packaging type, and other required attributes.
• Enter product information into internal systems with a high degree of accuracy.

Product Testing

• Evaluate how products fit within storage environments used by the automation system.

Fulfil is looking for a Firmware Engineer to join our Embedded Systems team. You'll work on the low-level software that drives our custom robotics hardware — implementing protocols, building control logic, and helping bring new hardware to life in a fast-moving production environment.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You'll work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teammates in hardware, software, and systems integration to implement firmware that is reliable, testable, and built to last.

What You'll Do

Firmware Development Implement robust firmware in C/C++ for ARM-based microcontrollers and Linux-based SBCs. Develop and maintain protocol implementations across CAN bus, I2C, UART, SPI, and Modbus.

Hardware Integration Participate in bring-up and validation of custom hardware. Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters to debug at the hardware/firmware boundary.

Motion & Control Implement motor control sequences including encoder-based positioning, tuning, and jerk limiting under the guidance of senior engineers.

Interface Development Work with gRPC and Protocol Buffer interfaces to expose hardware services to higher-level systems cleanly and safely.

Testing & Quality Write unit tests and contribute to HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) test environments. Debug issues across firmware logic, sensor integration, and timing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with hardware, software, and systems teams to understand interface contracts and align on firmware behavior.

Your Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Reliability Engineer will be responsible for developing and performing test methodologies to determine the robustness and long term reliability (LTR) of Fulfil’s robotic systems. As a core part of the R&D team, you will assume a great deal of responsibility ensuring tests are well designed and well executed in order to uncover potential end of life (EOL) issues. You will need to design test fixturing and build test fixtures. This role will require you perform root cause and failure analysis on issues discovered during testing. The ideal candidate must have a keen understanding of fatigue and wear related failure modes but also be knowledgeable in multiple fields including robotics, hardware, electronics and automation in order to handle multiple failure modes that could arise during testing. Communicating clearly with other teams is key to this role to ensure effective solutions are implemented, whether they be design, maintenance or process based. • Engineer the transition of Fulfil’s system from prototype to production machines by improving their LTR and Robustness over entire expected life time

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead architecture and development of embedded firmware systems from concept through production.
• Drive system design across multiple communication layers: from physical protocols (CAN, I2C) to high-level RPC interfaces.
• Mentor and coach engineers on best practices, code quality, and architectural decisions.

Firmware & Control Development

• Implement robust, portable firmware using C/C++ for ARM-based microcontrollers and SBCs (e.g., STM32, NXP, Raspberry Pi-class devices).
• Develop and maintain protocol implementations for CAN bus, Modbus, I2C, UART, and SPI.
• Design and maintain gRPC and Protocol Buffer interfaces to expose hardware services cleanly and safely to higher-level systems (e.g., orchestration, cloud, or local UIs).
• Integrate Linux-based SBC firmware modules with hardware abstraction layers.
• Implement motor control algorithms, including tuning, sequencing, encoder-based positioning, and jerk limiting.
• Use real-world feedback (encoders, sensors, timing feedback) to optimize motion sequences and avoid unnecessary re-homing.

Testing & Quality Engineering

• Design and maintain unit testing and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) environments.
• Debug systems at all layers — from firmware logic to sensor integration to timing drift.
• Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and related tools to bring up and validate hardware interfaces.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

• Work with systems, hardware, software, and operations teams to align on firmware behaviors and API contracts.
• Own interface boundaries between hardware components, middleware, and application layers.
• Participate in bring-up, debugging, and integration of custom hardware.

Documentation & Lifecycle Management

• Ensure detailed documentation of firmware APIs, hardware mappings, and integration guides.
• Promote best practices for version control, CI/CD for firmware, and structured release processes.

Required Qualifications

• Located within commuting distance to Mountain View Ca
• 8+ years of experience in embedded systems firmware development and architecture.
• Deep understanding of embedded communication protocols: CAN bus, Modbus, I2C, SPI, UART.
• Experience with motion control, motor tuning, encoder feedback, and trajectory optimization (e.g., jerk limiting).
• Strong C and C++ skills; familiarity with embedded Linux, shell scripting, and build systems (Bazel, CMake, etc.).
• Experience designing gRPC + Protobuf interfaces between firmware modules and external software.
• Proven ability to lead unit testing strategy and build HIL testing environments.
• Experience interfacing with electrical engineering teams and hardware bring-up.
• Skilled with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, etc.).
• Familiarity with Linux-based SBCs (e.g., NXP i.MX, Raspberry Pi, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CanOpen protocol.
• Familiarity with PLCs, ladder logic, or industrial automation frameworks.
• Background in industrial automation, robotics, or distributed systems.
• Experience with firmware bootloaders, OTA update strategies, and secure firmware deployment.
• Understanding of network protocols (Ethernet, MQTT, TCP/IP) in embedded contexts.
• Exposure to DevOps practices for firmware (artifact management, CI/CD pipelines).
• A maker/tinkerer mindset — whether from robotics competitions, hobby projects, or hardware hacking.

Your Responsibilities

As a Safety and Compliance Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring Fulfil automation equipment is designed to be safe and compliant to applicable US and international standards, ensure our equipment is deployed in a safe manner to that design, and help drive continued development of Fulfil safety culture. In this role you will work closely with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and systems engineers and the deployment and operations teams. You will lead certification efforts with external agencies and serve as an internal and client-facing subject matter expert. This role offers ample growth opportunities while working side-by-side with a motivated team to bring our innovative and exciting new technology to reality. 

In this role you will:

• Lead compliance effort to regulations, standards and guidelines established by ANSI, ISO, OSHA, NSF, UL and other applicable regulatory agencies, through the entire product life cycle
• Interface with NRTL / external agencies for certification, specifying and performing testing, defining which standards are appropriate, and clarifying and debating about intent of the standards
• Work with customers to validate Fulfil equipment meets their internal safety requirements and procedures
• Help develop functional safety architectures for new automation systems and design upgrades to existing systems
• Provide safety requirements across the company and mentor other engineers on best safety practices
• Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to ensure they meet safety requirements and are designed for operator safety
• Perform, and assist others in performing, risk assessments on equipment and processes
• Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment
• Participate in safety system implementation at new sites and performance of on-site equipment safety testing and validation
• Work with operations to write safety manuals for Fulfil equipment that will be provided to customers

What We’re Looking For

• B.S in a hardware related engineering discipline, e.g. electrical, mechanical, industrial, process, manufacturing etc.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing systems for safety compliance
• Experience designing and testing functional safety systems to ISO 13849 and/or IEC 61508. 
• Experience developing and certifying capital equipment to UL, ANSI and/or ISO standards with external certification authorities
• Experience performing risk assessments for complex products
• Hands on aptitude – able to dive in and implement and troubleshoot safety systems
• Clear understanding of human-factors engineering—the consideration of information about human users in the design of machines, jobs, and work environments

What we’d love to see

• Safety Certifications in Functional and Machine Safety (CEFS, CMSE etc)
• Experience developing custom safety logic/components to ISO 13849 and/or IEC 61508
