Title: Lead Mechanical Operations Engineer - New Albany, Ohio Campus

The Lead Mechanical Operations Engineer will support and lead the local data center site team on advanced mechanical engineering duties within the new New Albany, Ohio datacenter campus. This position reports to the Site Chief Engineer and requires someone to be onsite daily.  There is a limited amount of travel (10%) associated with this role domestically. This position certainly has growth potential to management, but it does not have direct reports currently.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of critical infrastructure and building mechanical systems.
• Operate critical infrastructure to include CRAH’s, CRAC’s, Chillers, Humidification Systems, De-humidification Systems, RTU’s, CDU’s, and Water Purification Systems.
• Issue identification and resolution through RCA and remediation processes.
• Coordination and oversite of maintenance and corrective activities.
• Coordination and oversite of customer requests.
• System analysis and reporting.
• Completion of self-performing PM/CM activities in accordance with ECX standards.
• Development and execution of MOP’s
• Supervise on-site subcontractors.
• Support the regional team as required in support of customer reporting and QBRs.
• Ensure consistent and accurate updates to tickets, WO’s, and associated communications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Detailed knowledge of critical infrastructure - to include CRAH’s, CRAC’s, Chillers, Humidification Systems, De-humidification Systems, RTU’s, CDU’s, and Water Purification Systems.
• Ability to read and assess single line diagrams, technical manuals and engineering plans.
• Extensive experience carrying out MOP/EOP/SOP
• Strong communications, both written and verbal, coordinating with local and regional team.
• Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
• Ability to prioritize and manage a breadth of responsibilities.
• Ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from team.

Experience/Education

• 5+ years of experience managing data center mechanical infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience managing a team of service technicians focused in mechanical infrastructure, serving as an escalation point and mentor on the most difficult issues onsite
• Strong, demonstrated interest in data center technology with a passion for continued learning
• Strong knowledge and experience in supporting a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Any experience working in pre-deployment phases of a data center, i.e. pre-construction or construction environments would make a candidate stand out
• Candidates possessing direct experience in leading mechanical engineering efforts at a hyperscale data center facility are highly encouraged to apply

Travel

This position will be located at the New Albany, Ohio EdgeConneX Data Center facility however, regular travel (approximately 10%) will be required to manage additional Data Centers within the Region as well as for annual and quarterly company meetings. 

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Data Center Delivery Executive with proven experience in GW campus environments, engineering, and program management. This role requires a dynamic leader who can oversee complex data center delivery programs from conception through execution, ensuring operational excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction.

A distinguishing element of this position is its close partnership with a dedicated in-house EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm. The Senior Executive will work hand-in-hand with EPC leadership and internal Engineering/Architecture teams to drive seamless integration of engineering, procurement, and construction functions, ensuring that each project milestone is met with precision and efficiency.

This role carries an Ohio remit overseeing the delivery of multiple GW campuses across the state. The successful candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, superior leadership skills, and a strong track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure programs while inspiring high-performance teams and cultivating trust with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Leadership: Direct large-scale data center delivery programs across multiple GW campuses in Ohio, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality outcomes
• Engineering Expertise: Apply engineering knowledge to guide design, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness of data centers
• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute delivery strategies that align with organizational objectives and client expectations across North America
• EPC Collaboration: Partner closely with the dedicated in-house EPC firm to coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction activities, ensuring seamless integration, accountability, and exceptional delivery
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the senior point of contact for executive stakeholders, clients, and partners, ensuring transparency and confidence throughout the delivery process
• Operational Excellence: Establish and enforce best practices in data center operations, risk management, and compliance
• Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams of engineers, project managers, and operations staff, cultivating a high-performance culture
• Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and process enhancements to increase efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of data center delivery

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in data center delivery with specific GW campus program knowledge
• Proven track record in engineering and program management, with the ability to translate technical complexities into actionable strategies
• Direct experience partnering with in-house EPC firms to deliver large-scale infrastructure programs
• Demonstrated success managing multi-campus delivery programs across North America
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organization
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making in mission-critical operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Certifications in program/project management (PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2) or data center operations
• Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly within highly regulated environments
