POSITION SUMMARY
As a Staff Engineer at EarnIn, all systems you work on are business-critical to our success. We manage systems that provide real-time and scheduled money transfers, facilitating the ability to track outcomes, reconcile discrepancies, and respond to returns, chargebacks, and other events. We seek experienced, collaborative, and resourceful Staff-level engineers to join our backend teams. As a Staff Engineer, you will work cross-functionally with various teams and contribute to the design and development of our backend services.
This position will be hybrid from our Mexico City office as part of our expanding site with two days a week required in office. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Drive the design and implementation of new features. Break down complex problems into their bare essentials, translate this complexity into elegant design, and create high-quality, maintainable code.
- Make a meaningful impact on the lives of our community members.
- Design & deliver robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs using various communication, consistency, and coordination strategies.
- Collaborate and mentor other senior engineers while providing thoughtful guidance using code, design, and architecture reviews.
- Contribute to defining technical direction, planning the roadmap, escalating issues, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success.
- Estimate and manage team project timelines and risks
- Care passionately about producing high-quality designs and code
- Participate in hiring and onboarding for new team members.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 7+ years of development experience, delivering value through software in a collaborative environment.
- Expertise in trade-off analysis for distributed architectures.
- Proficient in at least one modern programming language and the ability to understand more than one - we currently work in C# and Kotlin.
- Familiarity with the clean architecture approach.
- Experience with various data storage systems, including relational and document databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Being self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent industry experience

- Own lifecycle marketing growth strategies and execution across owned channels (email, SMS, push, in-app) to drive adoption and retention of EarnIn’s core products.
- Own end-to-end lifecycle campaign operations (setup → QA → deploy → monitor), ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery across channels.
- Be the hands-on expert for our automation platform: journey builds, dynamic content/personalization logic, template frameworks, audience management, and channel orchestration.
- Use AI to accelerate campaign ops: generate copy variants, assist QA, summarize results, and automate repeatable workflows—while maintaining brand and compliance guardrails.
- Own lifecycle reporting and performance readouts: build/maintain dashboards, monitor trends, and translate results into recommendations.
- Ensures flawless execution at scale through disciplined intake, rigorous QA, clear documentation, and proactive monitoring—delivering accurate, on-time launches with minimal errors and continuous process improvement.
- Proactively identify and execute new opportunities that provide incremental value to Community Members.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 4+ years leading the end-to-end development of multi-channel lifecycle marketing initiatives from strategy to execution to optimization, working with cross-functional partners.
- Proficient in marketing automation platforms such as Braze, Iterable, etc., or willingness to learn.
- Proficient using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT/Claude, Agentic workflow builders, Zapier) to accelerate lifecycle work—creative generation, generating personalization ideas, summarizing performance insights, and automating repeatable ops tasks
- Demonstrated expertise in iterative testing and campaign optimization through A/B and/or multivariate testing.
- Data-centric mindset. Proficiency in utilizing analytical tools such as Tableau, Amplitude, Looker, Periscope, etc., to craft compelling narratives that highlight the performance of campaigns.
- Complete understanding of the different stages of lifecycle marketing and journey mapping, with a preference for experience across multiple stages of the lifecycle versus just acquisition.
- Incredibly inquisitive and customer-centric, with a desire to know why people do what they do and how to improve their lives.
- Strong attention to detail, with a sense of achievement when finding errors during QA.

- Potentially achitect, lead, and optimize mobile infrastructure, ensuring exceptional scalability, performance, and reliability to support the organization's strategic growth.
- Lead collaborative efforts with backend engineers to define and evolve robust, efficient, and well-documented APIs for seamless mobile-to-server communication.
