What You Will Be Doing 

 As a Technical Program Manager, you will work to help the team understand requirements, help track and deploy embedded software solutions. 
 
Responsibilities 
 

• Working with product management, program managers, engineering managers, hardware, regulatory and other teams to understand and document technical requirements, ensure these are signed-off. 

• Ensure requirements are fully understood and implementation matches expectations. 

• Own and coordinate the embedded software release schedules and work with engineering managers to drive teams to meet committed delivery dates. 

• Actively groom the product backlog and ensure that the features and bugs are prioritized properly in a release 

• Help EPMs and EMs in managing scrum and agile methodologies 

• Evangelize and promote engineering best practices. 

• Work with customer support, QA and management to define errata for a release. 

• Actively work and influence next gen technology based requirements for the embedded software 

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint 

A Staff Technical Program Manager  drives successful delivery of complex, hardware‑software programs by aligning engineering execution with business goals. Through deep technical expertise and cross‑functional leadership, they proactively manage risks, dependencies, and quality across firmware, hardware integration, and regulatory constraints. At the staff level, they also scale impact by improving systems and processes, influencing technical strategy, and ensuring embedded platforms deliver long‑term reliability and customer trust.  

Requirements 

• Demonstrated ability to deliver and support embedded and/or cloud-connected software running on commercial/industrial hardware. 

• Demonstrated ability and inclination to make critical system-level design decisions to drive projects from start to finish 

• Experience with working through bring up and delivery phase of new embedded systems / technology products 

• 8+ years of experience working on embedded system products using C/C++ 
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent (MS preferred) 

Preferred 

• Exposure in connectivity architecture using Wireless (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC), and wired (Ethernet, CAN) interfaces a plus 

• C/C++ coding in a Linux environment; modern C++ is preferred 

• Working with EV / EVSE products is a big plus

What You Will Be Doing

As the Embedded Software Manager, you will lead a team of team leads and developers.   
 
Responsibilities: 
 

• Lead the design and development of our cloud-connected embedded systems; the team develops system software for application development, system integration, user interfaces, and cloud based management 

• Manage team of engineers who are designing new products and supporting our existing installed product base  

• Collaborate with members of the firmware, cloud, hardware, mechanical, regulatory, test, product and support teams during product design and implementation 

• Work closely with the SQA team to build out our automated testing infrastructure  

• Evangelize and promote engineering best practices by actively reviewing software code, design and architecture, code metrics 

• Coordinate software delivery schedules and drive teams to meet committed delivery dates  

• Recruit top engineering talent 

• Lead, coach and mentor direct reports to foster personal growth and teamwork  

• Maintain and foster a collaborative and challenging work environment 

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

• A proven track record of leading teams that deliver cloud‑connected embedded software on commercial and industrial hardware at scale. 

•  Strong system‑level architectural judgment, with the ability to make critical design decisions and own delivery from concept through deployment and long‑term support. 

•  Deep technical expertise in Linux‑based embedded systems, including expert‑level C/C++ development and practical use of Python for automation and tooling. 

•  Experienced people leadership (5+ years), with a demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and retain high‑performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of quality, ownership, and collaboration. 

•  Hands‑on experience with embedded Linux platforms and BSPs, modern build systems, and production debugging in complex, field‑deployed environments. 

•  A strong appreciation for secure, connected systems, including cloud integration, networking, and industry‑grade security practices. 

•  A collaborative, cross‑functional approach—successfully partnering with cloud, hardware, QA, compliance, product, and support teams to deliver robust end‑to‑end solutions. 

•  Commitment to engineering excellence, including code quality, automated testing, scalable architectures, and predictable exAs the Embedded Software Manager, you will lead a team of team leads and developers.   

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to deliver and support cloud-connected software running on commercial/industrial hardware  

• Demonstrated ability and inclination to make critical system-level design decisions and drive projects from start to finish  

• 5+ years managing a software development team  

• 7+ years of experience in developing embedded system products using C/C++, Python  

• Expert-level C/C++ coding in a Linux environment  
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent 

Preferred 

• Experience with Linux BSP platform including, file systems (ext4, UBIFS, JFFS2), sound system, and connected IoT systems, system software  

• Experience in asynchronous event driven architecture and developing scalable and latency-optimized distributed application services  

• Experience in PCI-DSS compliance secured cloud connectivity applications using HTTPS, Websockets, JSON, XML, Efficient Extensible Interchange (EXI), protobuf, openssl, IPSec, VPN, MAC filters, and network firewalls  

• Familiarity with embedded build environments - Yocto, buildroot, GCC, toolchain, Make, CMake, git, gdb, core dumps  

• Exposure in connectivity architecture using Wireless (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC), and wired (Ethernet, CAN) interfaces a plus 

• Working with EV / EVSE products is a big plus

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

• Automate existing tests using Python, Linux, & Embedded Platform
• Work on the Automation Test Results web app/portal using Django + MySQL + Python
• Perform hands-on testing of platform/embedded software
• Use GitHub to review and comment on test cases written in Python
• File and track bugs from opening to closure after verification

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work well remotely and with geographically distributed teams
• Completed at least 1 embedded system or software project, junior or senior level
• Completed Introduction and Advanced programming classes in Python
• Completed Data Structures and Introduction to Operating Systems classes
• Undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
