Communities United for Police Reform (CPR) is an unprecedented campaign to end discriminatory policing practices in New York and to build a lasting movement that promotes public safety and reduces reliance on policing. CPR runs coalitions of over 200 local, statewide and national organizations and has won significant organizing, policy and litigation victories since being launched in 2012.

Hiring Process and Timeline

When you apply for a job at Communities United for Police Reform, here’s what you can expect:

  • All job applications will include a request for a cover letter, resume, typically 1-2 work samples relevant to the position, and request for references.
  • We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled, with priority deadlines listed on each posting.
  • CPR typically conducts 2 rounds of interviews per candidate.
  • All CPR staff positions are locally based within the NYC-area, unless otherwise noted.
  • CPR staff are working in a hybrid work environment, with the majority of work being conducted remotely. Staff work from the office 2 days per week, and when additional days as needed depending on staff position, organizational and programmatic needs, and individual staff needs. 
  • We are continually monitoring the impacts and implications of the COVID pandemic on our work environment in order to assess in-person requirements and provide adequate and compliant safety measures. We employ flexibility and ongoing assessments that seek to balance the health and safety of CPR staff with organizational and programmatic needs.
