Financial Crime QC Lead

Overview

You are a professional with deep expertise in establishing and maintaining robust quality control frameworks within a financial crime environment. You are analytical and focused on delivering high-quality outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities

QC Governance and Oversight

• Take responsibility for the end-to-end Financial Crime and Onboarding QC framework for BCB Group, including standards, calibration, and escalations.

• Define and maintain the QC methodology (including sampling, scoring, and documentation) in line with Group policy, regulatory guidance, and internal risk appetite.

• Provide challenge on identified shortcomings and financial crime risk issues, ensuring a timely remediation process and clear accountability.

• Lead analysis of QC findings, drive corrective actions, and ensure BCB Group remains both audit and regulatory compliant.

Quality Control and Review

• Perform detailed quality reviews of Fraud/TM/KYC processes across a range of risk levels.

• Assess accuracy and consistency against the QC checklist and scoring criteria, as well as internal policies and regulatory requirements.

• Apply a risk-based approach in reviewing to identify inconsistencies and potential financial crime risks.

• Ensure all casework meets internal and external standards and support challenging conversations on findings.

Coaching & Improvement

• Work with the Financial Crime team to ensure timely completion of reviews and processes and support prioritisation of workloads to meet team objectives.

• Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members.

• Identify recurring issues and themes, escalation trends, and recommend solutions at operational and technological levels.

• Support the development of quality standards, guidance, and training.

Stakeholder Management

• Engage with the Onboarding and Financial Crime Teams, including investigators, managers, and executives.

• Clearly articulate and justify QC decisions, particularly when challenged.

• Build strong working relationships to support a collaborative culture.

Process Change

• Contribute to process enhancements and efficiency initiatives across the team.

• Understand developments in UK and EU Law to support changes in the function.

• Provide input into process improvements, policy updates, control frameworks, and system improvements.

• Support implementation of regulatory or internal change initiatives.

What you will bring to the team:

• Experience managing a QC function in a FinTech or start-up environment.

• Experience as a financial crime investigator or analyst.

• Proficiency handling wide sets of data and presenting key findings.

• Confidence in communicating to key stakeholders.

• Desired: Experience working with Chain Analysis.

We are seeking a highly accomplished, commercially savvy and strategically-minded leader to serve as the strategic Compliance Executive for the Group. You will lead UK regulatory operations while spearheading the compliance framework for our global product and markets roadmap.. This is a unique and pivotal dual-mandate role. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full regulatory adherence of our two regulated UK entities while simultaneously driving the global compliance strategy for products and new licences across the entire Group business. This position necessarily requires deep expertise in UK regulation (FCA), specifically for a payments and e-money institution, but uniquely combined with a proactive approach, excitement and flair for embedding compliance into the global product development lifecycle and expansion of our regulatory footprint.

The Role - What will you be doing?  

UK and Strategic Compliance Lead

You will serve as the strategic Compliance lead globally as well as the leader for our UK regulated entities, BCB Payments UK Ltd and BCB Markets UK Ltd, ensuring they meet our policy and regulatory framework requirements. Take full ownership of regulatory affairs, licensing, and direct engagement with the FCA. Oversee second line monitoring, safeguarding, internal audit findings remediation, ensuring issues are resolved with speed and precision.

Global Product & Expansion

This role has a global Compliance Advisory remit on all aspects of BCB’s product development and governance journey, plus global expansion efforts as we increase our regulatory footprint with new jurisdictions and new licences. You will ensure that as we enter new markets and launch new products, we incorporate a compliance-by-design approach.  You will partner directly with Product teams to embed compliance controls into the development lifecycle from day zero, conduct gap analyses and risk assessments for new jurisdictions and product approvals, and oversee horizon scanning.

Business Partnering & Reporting

You will provide Compliance advice to business stakeholders in a clear, concise, and tailored manner, representing the Compliance function in internal committees and working groups. You will continually improve and strengthen our compliance framework, identify emerging risks, and embed a strong culture of compliance across the firm. Provide comprehensive, regular reporting on the status of UK compliance risks, regulatory changes, and remedial actions to the UK Board, relevant governance committees. Create and develop compliance management information (MI) & Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).  

Experience & Requirements 

• You bring 10+ years of experience within the FCA-regulated payments, e-money, crypto, or banking sectors. You’ve spent at least 3-5 of those years in a senior leadership or Head of Compliance capacity, navigating the complexities of the UK regulatory landscape.
• You have a proven ability to act as a force multiplier for executive leadership, managing cross-functional strategic initiatives and motivating teams to deliver under pressure.
• You possess expert-level knowledge of PSRs, EMRs, the FCA handbook, and safeguarding rules. Crucially, you aren't intimidated by the "new": you have a deep interest in the evolving crypto asset sector and the global regulatory frontier. 
• You maintain expert-level understanding of UK AML, CTF, and Sanctions regulations. While you aren't the MLRO, you speak their language fluently.
• You are as comfortable drafting a policy from scratch as you are debating a compliance strategy with senior leadership.
• You provide commercially viable, actionable advice that balances rapid innovation with rigorous risk management. You've spent years providing 2nd line advisory for product development and global expansion.
• You are as comfortable in a "hands-on" regulatory engagement with the FCA as you are influencing and collaborating with senior leadership.
• You are autonomous, proactive, and ‘get it done’. You thrive in diverse, international, fast-moving environments where the rules of the game are constantly evolving.
• You hold relevant professional certifications in Compliance (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) and have an edge that enables you to represent BCB Group globally

You will own the end-to-end delivery of bank and payment partner integrations, ensuring clear scope, predictable timelines, and no surprises at launch. This role brings structure to ambiguous technical, partner, and regulatory requirements, enabling teams to execute efficiently while holding vendors accountable for delivery. A key part of the role is connecting integration decisions to real customer impact, shaping how the payments infrastructure performs and evolves.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver banking and payments integrations predictably and at pace — with clear scope, no late surprises, complete functionality, and production-ready quality at launch
• Drive clarity from ambiguous technical, partner, and regulatory inputs so teams can execute without rework or delays
• Make sound build vs buy decisions, select the right vendors, and hold them accountable to agreed scope, timelines, and SLAs
• Understand and communicate how integration design choices and features impact customer experience and product performance (e.g. success rates, latency, coverage), and use this to guide prioritisation
• Deliver compliance-driven changes in a pragmatic way that maintains compliance without derailing the broader roadmap

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven track record delivering payments or banking integrations (e.g. PSPs, acquirers, Open Banking, card schemes) with predictable timelines and minimal rework
• Strong technical fluency — able to work directly with APIs, understand edge cases and failure modes, and turn partner docs into clear, complete requirements
• Ability to run complex, dependency-heavy deliveries in ambiguous environments, aligning engineering, compliance, and commercial stakeholders while maintaining control of scope and timelines
• Experience making build vs buy decisions and managing vendors against scope, timelines, and SLAs
• Ability to translate technical implementation details into customer and product impact (e.g. how routing, retries, or provider differences affect success rates and UX)
• Experience delivering compliance or regulation-driven changes (e.g. FCA, scheme rules, PSD2/Open Banking) without stalling broader product delivery

Tech Lead

The Role - What will you be doing? 

Join a rapidly growing team to help BCB build and scale our products and deliver them to clients. We're seeking a candidate with strong expertise in software engineering, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms, coupled with a collaborative mindset, strong communication, strategic thinking, and a passion for shaping the future of crypto-financial services through innovative and client-centric solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Use your software engineering skills to develop, test, release, support and maintain complex financial platforms. Our backend is written in Node driven by SQL databases and our front-end uses the Angular framework. All our services run in google cloud in Kubernetes.
• Work closely with product managers to focus on new feature design, build and ship scalable products.
• Embed Crypto services into the BCB platform so that our clients can seamlessly manage their Fiat and Crypto activities.

So, what are we looking for?

• 10+ Years Experience in software engineering.
• Experience working with microservices and distributed systems architecture.
• Must be able to navigate open communication channels across the business. 
• Ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of fintech and crypto markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Must have a strong client-service focus and a passion for delivering innovative and reliable financial products.
• Expert proficiency in server-side development, ideally in TypeScript.
• Proficiency in Go/C#/C++/Java or another high-level language preferred.
• Experience with Node.JS and server frameworks, ideally NestJS.
• High level expertise in SQL development and database programming: MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Good working knowledge of front-end frameworks, ideally Angular and Angular Material.
• Knowledge of Cloud Platforms, ideally Google Cloud.
• Expertise in automated testing at unit, integration and system level.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms, ideally gitlab.
• An Interest in crypto currencies and the leading blockchain technologies, such as Ethereum and Bitcoin.
• Experience in Fintech/Banking is highly desirable.
