Senior Consulting Manager – GDC (Global Delivery Center)

The GDC Senior Consulting Manager reports to the Director of Consulting Operations of the Global Delivery Center organization. The role plays a critical part in providing support to the GDC team members to ensure engagement success and people management.  This person will collaborate with GDC Leadership, GDC Operations and Resource Management to provide optimized project staffing.  This role plays a key role in maintaining proper GDC delivery team utilization and maximizing revenues.

Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with GDC Consulting Operations to identify and assign project resources to client engagements.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders that characterize partnership, cooperation and trust.
• Participate in regular ideation and consultation meetings with GDC and onshore counterparts.
• Manage own projects where required.
• Oversee medium to large concurrent client projects while maintaining oversight to identify risk, escalations and issue resolution.
• Manage and resolve escalations between the project, client or other internal organizations in a satisfactory manner.
• Oversee resource planning, and coordination of project activities between client and internal/external resources needed to accomplish strategic business goals.
• Mentor staff in Agile methodologies and best practices in project management to enhance project delivery.
• Provide teams with clear understanding of responsibilities, accountabilities and growth plan by communicating and managing work assignments, training, and performance appraisals.
• Spearhead multiple Internal initiatives yielding impactful results to the growth of the organization and its employees.
• Ensure that bench time for Consultants is used to improve skills in line with Practice technology roadmaps.
• Monitor the alignment of program scope with strategic business objectives.
• Solicit feedback Delivery Owners of engagements where GDC team members are aligned.
• Conduct interviews of prospective GDC candidates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years demonstrated client relationship skills and experience setting and managing client expectations.
• Experience / background on Java
• Strong verbal and writing skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively up to Executive Levels.
• Extensive experience aligning diverse teams across multiple locations to deliver projects in alignment with project commitments.
• Has a strong sense of working collaboratively with the GDC Leadership team.
• Deep, professional knowledge in internal stakeholder management, people management, and software project Delivery.
• Ability to lay out sound work plans and resolve competing trade-offs.
• Ability to manage up to 30 people and provide guidance on their career development.
• Ability to passionately develop and nurture the next in line leaders.
• Ability to remain composed during challenging and critical situations.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile best practices and delivery methodologies.
• Experience working with sales and solutioning stakeholders on staffing and timeline commitments and ensure there is alignment in expectations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and delivery for client engagements, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality Azure-based solutions.
• Translate business and functional requirements into technical architectures by collaborating closely with clients, delivery teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide architectural oversight and governance, ensuring engineering execution aligns with delivery objectives and best practices.
• Develop and contribute to reusable assets (e.g., accelerators, frameworks, templates, and documentation) that enhance efficiency and solution quality.
• Mentor engineers and early-career architects within Delivery Service Lines, sharing architectural patterns, technical insights, and delivery best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve delivery challenges, including integration, performance, and scalability issues.
• Apply current Azure technologies and Microsoft frameworks to optimize solutions for maintainability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to delivery consistency by supporting architectural reviews, pattern development, and delivery alignment within your domain.
• Engage in presales support when needed, including technical discovery, scope definition, and proposal input.
• Manage workload and commitments to meet utilization goals while maintaining architectural quality across engagements.

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering Azure-based solutions in consulting, client-facing, or enterprise environments.
• Strong technical foundation in one primary domain (Application Innovation, Cloud Platform, or Data & AI).
• Demonstrated ability to translate business and functional needs into scalable, high-quality technical designs.
• Experience guiding engineering teams, reviewing solutions, and ensuring architectural quality across projects.
• Recognized for contributing to reusable frameworks, accelerators, or delivery assets that improve project consistency.
• Effective communicator, able to work across technical and non-technical teams to align architecture decisions with business goals.
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification (or equivalent).
• Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud environments is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for client projects as needed.

Expertise

Application Innovation

• Design and deliver modern, cloud-native applications using .NET, Java, Node.js, or Python.
• Develop microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures optimized for scalability and maintainability.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerized solutions using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Container Apps.
• Modernize and migrate legacy applications to Azure using contemporary architecture and coding practices.
• Partner with cloud and data teams to ensure alignment between applications, infrastructure, and data layers.

Cloud Platform

• Design and implement Azure infrastructure solutions, including networking, identity, security, and governance.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) to automate environment provisioning and management.
• Develop platform automation, compliance, and cost optimization strategies for Azure environments.
• Support hybrid and multi-cloud environments and integrate workloads with Azure landing zones.
• Collaborate with application teams to ensure performance, security, and reliability across the platform.

Data & AI

• Design and implement modern data architectures using Azure Synapse, Data Lake, Databricks, and SQL.
• Build and optimize data integration pipelines that support analytics and application use cases.
• Apply governance frameworks to ensure data quality, lineage, and compliance.
• Support delivery of AI and machine learning solutions using Azure Machine Learning and Cognitive Services.
• Work with application and platform teams to enable insight-driven capabilities in modernized solutions.
