We are seeking a highly skilled, clinically sound US Registered Nurse (USRN) – Admin & Triage Coordinator to support a busy U.S.-based OB/GYN practice. In this critical role, you will act as the primary clinical filter and administrative anchor—managing patient triage, handling incoming medical calls, and taking complete ownership of the practice's AthenaHealth EHR inbox and patient message queues.
The ideal candidate brings deep clinical expertise in OB/GYN or Women’s Health, exhibits sharp triage judgement, and excels at filtering non-urgent tasks so physicians can remain focused on direct patient care.
Working Environment & Core Schedule
- Client / Practice Focus: OB/GYN & Women's Health
- Status: Full-Time (40 Hours / Week)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (US Eastern Standard Time)
Top 3 Daily Tasks
- Clinical Patient Triage & Call Management: Handle incoming clinical phone calls, assess patient symptoms according to established OB/GYN protocols, and provide appropriate guidance.
- AthenaHealth EHR Inbox Management: Review, prioritize, and manage physician inboxes, lab results, and patient portal messages—filtering non-urgent items and routing actionable tasks.
- Urgent Escalation & Protocol Guidance: Swiftly identify high-risk or provider-level clinical concerns (e.g., severe obstetric or gynecologic symptoms) and escalate them directly to attending physicians.
Core Responsibilities
- OB/GYN Clinical Triage: Evaluate patient concerns over the phone, applying specialized protocols for prenatal, postpartum, and general gynecological care.
- AthenaHealth EHR Inbox Optimization: Categorize, respond to, and clear prescription refill requests, routine lab notifications, and non-urgent patient inquiries inside Athena.
- Patient Follow-Up & Guidance: Contact patients to deliver routine lab/test results, explain physician-approved care plans, and answer clinical questions.
- Care Coordination & Scheduling: Assist with urgent OB/GYN scheduling, specialist referrals, and follow-up appointment tracking as clinically indicated.
- Administrative Operations: Provide comprehensive clinical administrative support to maximize the full 40-hour weekly schedule and streamline clinic operations.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered USRN License.
- Clinical Specialty Expertise (CRITICAL): Proven clinical experience in OB/GYN, Women’s Health, L&D, or Outpatient Gynecology. OB/GYN expertise is strictly prioritized.
- Communication & Demeanor: Exceptional verbal and written English communication with clear, neutral pronunciation for high-stakes patient triage calls.
- Software Proficiency: Direct hands-on experience navigating and managing the inbox/messaging workflows within AthenaHealth EHR.
- Remote Workspace Setup: A private, HIPAA-compliant home office with a reliable computer, high-speed internet, and a clear headset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Skills: Professional fluency in Spanish is a plus, provided OB/GYN clinical requirements are fully met.
