Job Summary:
Performs construction layout and project controls activities to support building and site work execution, including assisting with Self-Perform Work (SPW) scope-specific layout as needed. Applies knowledge of survey methods and use of tools, equipment and software necessary to effectively establish precise control points, collection of data, and verification of construction accuracy, including coordinating with third-party surveyors who establish project monuments and performing verification of coordinates and control. Collaborates with project teams to ensure that layout work aligns with design intent, project schedules, and quality standards, while supporting and guiding field technicians during layout activities. Contributes to continuous improvement in field engineering and survey practices through accurate documentation and proactive communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs construction layout and field survey activities using robotic total stations, total stations, and related survey equipment.
Establishes and maintains horizontal and vertical control points in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
Interprets and applies information from construction documents, drawings, and models to perform accurate layout and verification tasks.
Conducts as-built and verification surveys, ensuring data accuracy and completeness for project documentation.
Prepares survey calculations, plots, and digital files using AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent software.
Maintains survey equipment, performs calibration checks, and ensures proper field setup and data collection procedures.
Collaborates with project engineers, superintendents, and VDC teams to coordinate layout priorities and sequencing.
Education Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
Work Experience:
5-7 years of experience in field surveying, construction layout, or a related discipline required.
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Trimble layout software preferred.
Certifications and Licenses:
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification within 3 months of hire required.
Certified Survey Technician (CST) or equivalent certification preferred.
