ERM Mexico is seeking a Social Projer Manager with strong technical and strategic experience in sustainability to join our consulting team in Mexico City.

ROLE

This role focuses on supporting ERM’s clients in managing their social performance, stakeholder engagement, and human rights challenges, contributing to more sustainable outcomes across sectors and geographies. Key responsibilities include:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT &  DELIVERY

  • Manage social performance projects end-to-end: scoping and pricing, work planning, budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, risk management, QA/QC, and delivery on time and on budget.
  • Manage budgets, change orders, subcontractors, and support invoicing and collections.
  • Act as day-to-day client contact — manage expectations, escalate issues, and identify follow-on opportunities.
  • Plan and lead fieldwork in line with ERM's health, safety and security standards, including travel risk assessments, security protocols for higher-risk areas, and duty of care for staff and subcontractors.

PEOPLE AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Line-manage and coach consultants, supporting performance reviews, recruitment and onboarding.
  • Build local team capability and lead internal training and knowledge sharing within the social performance team.

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

  • Provide strong technical expertise in designing and implementing community engagement, land access negotiations, stakeholder mapping, impact identification, implementation of management measures, and grievance mechanisms.
  • Lead and contribute to social and human rights due diligence processes, social baseline studies, stakeholder engagement plans, and other assessments in line with national regulations and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights).
  • Direct and/or conduct desktop work (e.g., information review, research, data processing), developing and coordinating reports focused on social contexts, impacts, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with requirements.
  • Lead and/or perform fieldwork activities, including stakeholder engagement, consultations, and information gathering to support social baselines and impact assessments.
  • Systematize and analyze field data to produce clear, evidence-based recommendations and management measures.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, International Relations, Social Sciences or related discipline. Master’s Degree in similar disciplines is desirable.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in social performance, community engagement, and/or human rights.
  • At least 5 years of consulting experience and people leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Community engagement and consultation processes, including ejidos and other local stakeholders.
    • Social investment, local content and community development.
    • Stakeholder mapping and analysis.
    • Social impact identification, assessment, and management.
    • Design and implementation of social management plans.
    • Resettlement experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience directing community engagement processes related to land development, energy, transmission lines, permitting and/or construction of large-scale facilities is an asset.
  • Strong experience conducting both fieldwork (e.g., community consultations, social baseline studies, social due diligence) and desktop work (e.g., research, data analysis, compliance reviews, reporting).
  • Strong ability to prepare professional presentations, decks and reports that support stakeholder engagement and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with national and international databases and tools for data analysis and social context understanding (e.g., INEGI, CONAPO, INPI).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, key stakeholders (e.g. local communities, government officials) and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for field assignments as required; valid passport and driver’s license (US Visa desirable).
