Job Role: Senior Architect

Compensation range: $2,500 - $3,200+ AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: The client is a premium architectural residential builder operating across Queensland and New South Wales. They specialize in delivering high-end custom homes and renovations for discerning clients, working closely with leading architects and designers on complex, design-driven projects.

Role Overview: 

We are looking for a Senior Architect or Building Designer with 5+ years of experience in high-end residential architecture and interiors to join our client’s team remotely.

You’ll be responsible for taking projects from design direction through to complete construction documentation, working independently while collaborating closely with our studio. This role is ideal for someone highly proficient in Revit, technically strong, and experienced in delivering detailed residential documentation packages.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop projects from initial design concepts through to detailed construction documentation.
• Produce accurate plans, elevations, sections, joinery, cabinetry, and construction details.
• Prepare complete architectural and interior documentation packages.
• Create schedules for finishes, fixtures, fittings, doors, windows, and joinery.
• Prepare presentation drawings using Revit and Adobe InDesign.
• Review documentation against established checklists and Australian NCC & Australian Standards requirements, flagging potential issues.
• Ensure drawings and documentation meet high standards of accuracy, consistency, and presentation.
• Work independently through revisions and incorporate feedback efficiently.
• Collaborate closely with the design team to ensure projects are delivered on time and to studio standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in architecture or building design.
• Strong background in high-end residential architecture and interiors.
• Architecture or Building Design degree/qualification.
• Advanced Revit proficiency.
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Excel.
• Proven ability to independently manage and deliver full documentation packages from concept through construction documentation.
• Strong experience with:
• Interior layouts
• Plans, elevations, and sections
• Joinery and cabinetry documentation
• Construction detailing
• Material and finishes schedules
• Strong understanding of residential construction and interior detailing.
• Working knowledge of NCC requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and respond effectively to feedback.

About You

You’re a technically strong and experienced architect or building designer who can take ownership of a project’s documentation from start to finish.

You have a strong eye for detail, understand high-end residential construction and interiors, and can translate design concepts into beautifully resolved, technically accurate documentation.

You’re organised, reliable, proactive, and comfortable working remotely with a collaborative design studio.
