About the Team

We build enterprise software that helps organizations optimize sales performance, enabling go-to-market agility. Our engineering organization includes multiple product application teams responsible for delivering core customer-facing capabilities. We are seeking Staff Backend Engineers to join our application teams. You’ll work alongside other staff, senior, and early-career engineers to define, evolve, and scale the systems that power enterprise-grade product workflows. This is an opportunity to influence both technical direction and product direction. We are low on meetings, high on accountability. Most of the team are in EST time zone but we have a few located in AST, PST and Central as well.

What you’ll be doing

You will play a critical role in the continued evolution of our application stack. You will lead development efforts for complex backend capabilities and serve as a technical example in system design, code quality, and long-term maintainability. You’ll operate at the intersection of data modelling, business logic, and enterprise scale reliability.

As a Staff Engineer, you are expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and trust. This includes proactively identifying architectural risks, surfacing edge cases or constraints others may not see, and advocating for improvements that strengthen the long-term integrity of the system. What We're Looking for:

• Significant experience designing and building complex backend systems in production environments.

• Expertise in at least one production-grade backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, C#, etc.).

What you'll be doing: 

Reporting to the VP of Engineering the Senior Frontend Engineer will play a key role in building, evolving, and scaling Forma’s customer-facing and internal operations experiences.

You’ll work closely with product, design, engineering, operations, and leadership partners to deliver intuitive, performant, and reliable interfaces for configuring, operating, and analyzing complex sales compensation workflows. The Core Services team is responsible for the foundational systems that power how Forma’s platform operates at scale. This includes service-to-service communication, permissions and access control, release infrastructure, and observability.

As our platform scales toward a more distributed, multi-service architecture, this team plays a critical role in ensuring systems remain reliable, secure, and easy to operate. The work here sits at the intersection of backend engineering and infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on building robust, scalable software systems.

What you'll be doing:

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will help lead the design and development of foundational platform capabilities that support all backend services.

You will work on high-impact, cross-cutting problems that shape how engineers build, ship, secure, and operate services at Forma. You’ll spend significant time designing APIs, data models, application workflows, shared libraries, and backend services that other teams rely on.

Key areas of ownership include:

• Designing and implementing systems for roles, permissions, and access control across services
• Defining how services access shared permission models and identity data
• Defining how user permissions carry across product surfaces, not just machine-to-machine service authorization

What you'll be doing:

Reporting to the CTO, you will lead at least two engineering pods, each focused on key application areas within our product. You’ll play a hands-on leadership role—guiding teams, shaping technical direction, and contributing directly to code and system design.

We believe in leading from the front. You don’t need to be the strongest engineer on the team, but you should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves regularly and setting a strong technical example.

You’ll be product- and outcome-focused, with a sharp sense of where to invest time and energy and where not to. You’ll work closely with Product Owners to deeply understand our business domains, help shape product vision, and drive meaningful results.

You’ll also help build your teams. Hiring great engineers is a critical part of this role, so experience attracting, assessing, and onboarding high-quality talent is important.

Our tech stack experience requirements are intentionally flexible. We expect strong engineers to adapt quickly. Experience with TypeScript, React, Python, Django, or .NET is a plus—but not a prerequisite.

Reporting to the CTO, you will lead at least two engineering pods, each focused on key application areas within our product. You’ll play a hands-on leadership role—guiding teams, shaping technical direction, and contributing directly to code and system design.

We believe in leading from the front. You don’t need to be the strongest engineer on the team, but you should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves regularly and setting a strong technical example.

You’ll be product- and outcome-focused, with a sharp sense of where to invest time and energy—and where not to. You’ll work closely with Product Owners to deeply understand our business domains, help shape product vision, and drive meaningful results.

You’ll also help build your teams. Hiring great engineers is a critical part of this role, so experience attracting, assessing, and onboarding high-quality talent is important.

About the Team

Engineers on this team construct our rules-based calculating engine for processing sales commissions. This might sound simple if you have never been exposed to sales comp plans, it is not! We are low on meetings, high on accountability. Most of the team are in EST time zone but we have a few located in PST and Central as well. We are far from maintenance / progressive evolution in many areas, there is a lot of room to make a big impact in the overall design.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Manager of Data Platform, you will play a critical role in the evolution of our Spark based data platform. You'll lead development efforts for our complex, data-rich platform features while being an example to the team of code quality and thoughtful software design. You will be working on the most challenging code at Forma.

As a Staff Engineer, you are expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and trust. This includes proactively identifying architectural risks, surfacing edge cases or constraints others may not see, and advocating for improvements that strengthen the long-term integrity of the system. • Design and evolve backend services that power product workflows.

What We're Looking for:

• Significant experience designing and building complex backend systems in production environments.

• Expertise in at least one production-grade backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, C#, etc.).
