Firefox developers land code every day to delight users with new features and improve product performance and security. About this team and role:
The Localization Team manages the infrastructure that powers localization across all Mozilla products and services, and supports our global community of volunteer localizers. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll contribute to a range of Mozilla localization projects and technologies — from open source libraries like moz-l10n to Pontoon, our Django-based Translation Management System. You’ll also work on internationalization features that shape the experience of Firefox and other Mozilla products, and have the opportunity to engage with development of standards such as Unicode MessageFormat and DOM Localization.

What you will do:

Job Description:
B12's engineering team views software as a craft, but improving the world as the reason to practice it. Our engineers are responsible for prioritizing, conceptualizing, co-designing, building, testing, and engaging users for any concept we are building out. We’re generalists in encouraging each other to experience the full stack, but we’re also aware of each other’s preferences in the stack. For this role in particular, we’re searching for a full-stack engineer who brings strong backend skills (and an interest in using them) to the product. We mentor and teach where we can, both inside and outside of the company.
We value sharing our work with the outside world. Our team has published papers on forming expert flash teams and machine-mediated worker hierarchies. We’ve baked our research into Orchestra, the system that coordinates our expert and machine teams, and released Orchestra into open source to contribute our software back to the community.
We hope our engineers have more longevity than any one tool we use, but here is a sampling of our current thoughts about technology:
- We live on Python/Django and TypeScript/React.
- We store blobs in Amazon’s S3, munch on them in Amazon’s EC2, develop in Docker, and deploy containers to Amazon’s Elastic Beanstalk.
- We believe PostgreSQL should be the first system you consider when thinking about persisting structured data.
- We clean and centralize data in Amazon’s Redshift, and are able to answer almost any question in SQL.
- We leverage AI in our product and our internal tooling, and faced with a landscape in constant flux, try to pick the right model or agent on a task-by-task basis.
- We have near-full test coverage on the backend, and are making progress on our frontend and integration tests.
- We set up continuous integration and deployment because, while this model comes with its own pains, we’ve disliked being on fixed release schedules on previous projects.
- We like to move fast and support point-in-time recovery :).

About the role
We’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer with product vision. You’ll design and operate services in Python/Django that power labeling and evaluation workflows at scale: clean API contracts, robust data models, efficient background jobs, and dependable performance. You’ll partner early with PM/Design/FE to frame problems, prototype to learn, and make pragmatic scope calls—so complex workflows feel simple, reliable, and fast for users.

- Design, build, and operate backend services/APIs in Python/Django with Postgres/Redis.
- Own outcomes, not tasks: refine scope, suggest trade-offs, and land increments that deliver value quickly and safely.
- Model data and author migrations; tune queries and caching; manage background jobs/queues for high-volume workflows.
- Evolve API contracts with FE; keep interfaces clear, versioned, and resilient to change.
- Improve reliability and performance (timeouts, retries, idempotency, rate limits, pagination, backpressure).

How we work
At HumanSignal, we follow a six-week cycle known as "Build and Ship" followed by a "Cooldown." During the first four weeks, the team focuses on creating new features and shipping improvements. We also rotate a small group to handle customer support, ensuring everyone stays in touch with real user needs and we can respond quickly to issues.
After those four weeks, we have a two-week "Cooldown" period. This is when we tackle technical debt, refine our integration processes, and wrap up those lingering tasks that never quite fit into regular sprints but really help us feel good about our codebase and workflows.
Location & Compensation
At HumanSignal we pay based on regional compensation market rate ranges across the globe. We are hiring for this role across North and South America as well as Europe. The base cash compensation range is $140,000 to $200,000 USD. These ranges are provided by market data and are in good faith. The final offer details are determined by several factors including candidate experience, expertise, as well as applicable industry knowledge and may vary from the pay ranges listed above.

How we work
At HumanSignal, we follow a six-week cycle known as "Build and Ship" followed by a "Cooldown." During the first four weeks, the team focuses on creating new features and shipping improvements. We also rotate a small group to handle customer support, ensuring everyone stays in touch with real user needs and we can respond quickly to issues.
After those four weeks, we have a two-week "Cooldown" period. This is when we tackle technical debt, refine our integration processes, and wrap up those lingering tasks that never quite fit into regular sprints but really help us feel good about our codebase and workflows.
Location & Compensation
At HumanSignal we pay based on regional compensation market rate ranges across the globe. We are hiring for this role across North and South America as well as Europe. The base cash compensation range is $140,000 to $200,000 USD. These ranges are provided by market data and are in good faith. The final offer details are determined by several factors including candidate experience, expertise, as well as applicable industry knowledge and may vary from the pay ranges listed above.

About the role
We’re hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer with product vision. You’ll lead with craft—shipping fast, accessible UX in React/TypeScript—and partner early with PM/Design to frame problems, prototype to learn, and make pragmatic scope calls. You care about clarity, performance, and simplicity in complex, data-heavy workflows—so the result feels simple, performant, and trustworthy.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain frontend components and views for labeling, review, and evaluation workflows with performance, accessibility, and scalability in mind.
- Own outcomes, not tasks: refine scope, suggest trade-offs, propose simpler approaches, and land increments that deliver value fast.
- Partner with Product & Design from discovery to delivery: clarify user jobs, write lightweight RFCs/PRDs, and shape scope and milestones.
- Prototype to de-risk UX; use flags/gradual rollouts; gather feedback from users/support and iterate after releases.
- Raise the bar on FE standards: state management, testing, error boundaries, a11y, i18n, and developer ergonomics.
- Partner with Support to investigate production issues, reduce UX papercuts, and turn learnings into fixes.
- Engage with our open-source community (issues, discussions) to understand real-world needs and improve developer experience.
- Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews; mentor teammates and improve patterns across the codebase.
What you’ll bring
- Senior-level experience shipping production React/TypeScript apps (HTML/CSS mastery; ES6+; a11y).
- Strong product sense: you’ve made scope/trade-off decisions and iterated based on real-world usage and feedback.
- Fluency with modern FE tooling (e.g., Vite/Webpack, Jest/Cypress) and state-management patterns.
- Comfort collaborating with APIs and occasionally touching backend code (Django/REST familiarity is a plus).
- Excellent communication at a Senior IC level—you write clear RFCs/PRDs, give actionable reviews, and present trade-offs well.
Nice to have
- Experience with data/ML tools, OSS, design systems, or performance profiling.
- Familiarity with feature flags/gradual rollouts and qualitative feedback loops (support forums, user sessions).
- Prior work on complex, data-heavy UIs (review tools, multi-step workflows, or IDE-like apps).
