We are looking for a Staff Digital Design Engineer to help define, build, and optimize high-performance chiplet based SoC architectures. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive at the intersection of microarchitecture, RTL implementation, and performance and power aware design.
This role is hybrid, based out of Tokyo.

Who You Are
- A digital design expert with a deep understanding of computer architecture and IP microarchitecture.
- Skilled in RTL development (Verilog/VHDL) and familiar with full ASIC flows.
- Comfortable optimizing for power, performance, and area (PPA) under aggressive design goals.
- A naturally collaborative and technical engineer — you thrive in spec definition, peer reviews, and team-wide planning.
- Strong synthesis and timing closure awareness to support backend teams.
What We Need
- Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDLs) such as Verilog, SystemVerilog or VHDL.
- Architecture and RTL implementation of Tenstorrent’s custom IP blocks and SoC components.
- Performance-aware design decisions for compute, interconnect, or memory-heavy blocks.
- Occasional contributions to validation using emulation, FPGA prototyping, or UVM flows.
- Prior experience in on-chip fabric and interconnect designs and basic understanding of RISC-V Architecture and debug experience is preferable.

We are looking for a person ready to take up the challenge of working in a high-profile project where we integrate multiple chiplets into a System-in-package, in collaboration with external stakeholders. You will work with Tenstorrent worldwide experts and leaders in the USA, Japan and other countries, and help us make our IP even better.
In this role, you will ensure functionality and performance of the system.
This role is based out of Tokyo, Japan and offer flexible Hybrid work style.

Responsibilities:
- Verify Tenstorrent’s digital IP and SoC logic at chiplet integration level, using industry standard verification methodologies
- Build and improve components of verification infrastructure including model builds and simulation/regression runs,
- Create verification components like testbenches, checkers and test generators,
- Add assertions and coverages along associated methodologies,
- Build verification test plans for subsystems, align them with project stakeholders, implement test suites, summarize the results and share feedback with project stakeholders
- Publish and review verification metrics and drive convergence towards tape-out,
- Work across boundaries with architects, software and design/emulation teams,
- Guide and mentor junior engineers.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in electrical, computer engineering or computer science
- Proven experience in CPU or SoC verification
- Over 10 years of experience with verification flows, scripting and automation
- Good knowledge of logic design
- Knowledge of Verilog//v2k/system Verilog
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Good English language skills (written and spoken)
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of RISC-V, machine learning, die-to-die, memory controllers, PCIe, UCIe
- Knowledge of low level drivers and firmware in C
- Fluency in Japanese
- Japanese work visa

About the role
As a Mechanical Engineer at Applied, you will be an integral part of the entire product design lifecycle. Your technical contributions will directly impact the requirements, design, integration, and validation/verification of our self-driving vehicles. You will support the testing and evaluation of sensors such as cameras, radars, and lidars. You will focus on developing hardware for the harsh environment of various types of vehicles.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Support the mechanical engineering development of Applied Vehicles.
- Contribute to the mechanical design of the external sensor suite, compute assembly, and interior of the vehicles.
- Perform structural and thermal analysis of mechanical designs
- Own the design, analysis, and validation of the system from the component level, assembly level, and the fully integrated vehicle
- Design with a focus on scalability and manufacturability
- Work cross-functionally to ensure the requirements and mechanical designs meet the needs of all the teams within the organization
- Verify that the designed components can be properly installed on the vehicle without issues through hands-on validation
We're looking for someone who has:
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
- Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and verbal), with the ability to operate effectively in a bilingual business environment
- 2+ year of experience designing hardware and shipping products
- Demonstrated experience in FEA/CAE
- Experience with hardware reliability and testing
- NVH experience is a plus
- Perform incoming IQC on design hardware including visual inspection, pressure testing, and firmware flashing
- CNC, Machining, Metal Working and Welding experience
- Experience with Automotive Repair and Maintenance
- Experience working with AV Components Lidars, Radars, Camera etc
- Design, draw and prototype custom harness cable
- Familiarity using CAD (Solidworks Preferred) to navigate, design or modify 3D models
- Setup device under test and execute test scripts provided by test engineers
- Produce and develop detailed documentation for test, maintenance, safety, and team processes
- Work directly with engineers to design, fabricate, and assemble custom test fixtures

About the role
As a Hardware Integration Engineer you will be an integral part of the commissioning of new vehicles for our various projects at Applied Intuition. Your contributions will enable and make more effective broader hardware integration work being done on our vehicle fleets and drive quality and stability improvements for our vehicles being released for the road. You will primarily be responsible for the provisioning of new vehicle hardware, including sensors and computers, and then conducting validation testing at multiple stages of the vehicle build lifecycle.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Support hardware integration efforts and development of Applied vehicles.
- Conduct component provisioning, ensuring that a wide variety of components are ready for integration into a vehicle.
- Validate integrated vehicle builds at the system and vehicle level.
- Scale our provisioning and validation efforts to support larger vehicle fleets.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure that the provisioning and validation needs of various teams and projects are being met.
We're looking for someone who has:
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
- 2+ years experience working with automotive hardware and software
- Experience with hardware reliability and testing
- Experience with AV components (LiDAR, RADAR, Cameras, etc.)
- Experience creating and executing test plans
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of automotive communication (CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet)
- Knowledge/Experience with common CAN/CAN FD tools (Vector, PCAN View/Explorer)
- Experience flashing software/firmware updates on hardware (ECUs, etc)
