About the Role:
As a Data Engineer on our BI team, you’ll be a key player in Motive’s growth, delivering the data infrastructure for the AI era. You’ll act as the essential link between complex data and key business domains, delivering the high-quality datasets and semantic models that drive global strategy. What You'll Do:
- Collaborate & Strategize: Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and design end-to-end architecture that solves complex business problems.
- Build & Maintain Data Models: Design, develop, and own robust, efficient, and scalable data models in Snowflake and Iceberg using dbt and advanced SQL.
- Orchestrate & Automate: Build and manage reliable data pipelines and CI/CD workflows using tools like Airflow, Python, and Terraform to ensure data is fresh, trustworthy, and infrastructure is version-controlled.
- Champion Data Quality: Implement rigorous testing, documentation, and data governance practices to maintain a single source of truth.
- Enable Analytics & Workflows: Act as the Product Owner and Tech Lead for your data domains, taking responsibility for the end-to-end data product delivery– from raw ingestion to data models enabling analytics and data apps in tools like Tableau and Retool.
- Innovate with AI: Help us build our next-generation data infrastructure by integrating AI capabilities (like Snowflake Cortex AI) to democratize analytics and empower the business.
- Architect Observability: Implement monitoring and alerting frameworks (e.g., dbt packages or Monte Carlo monitors) to proactively catch "silent" data failures before stakeholders do.
What We're Looking For:
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a similar role.
- Deep expertise in SQL and developing complex data models for analytical purposes (e.g., dimensional modeling).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Data Warehousing: High proficiency in Snowflake (preferred) and experience with Open Table Formats like Iceberg.
- Data Transformation: dbt
- Orchestration & ETL: Airflow, Fivetran, Airbyte
- Cloud Platform: AWS
- Programming/Ingestion: Python
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
- AI-Augmented Development: Proficiency using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, or Claude) to accelerate development and automate routine tasks.
- A strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to solve ambiguous business problems with data.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working cross-functionally.
- Self-starter with the ability to self-project manage work
- A user focus with the ability to understand how a data consumer will use the data products you build

- Experience building semantic models for natural language querying
- Direct experience with advanced Snowflake features (e.g., Snowpark, Cortex AI).

- 5+ years of experience with Python, and experience building scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems
- Proficiency in SQL, ETL/ELT, and data modeling, with extensive experience in Snowflake and dbt
- Hands-on experience with RDBMS such as MySQL, MS SQL Server (optional), and Postgres
- Familiarity with integration tools like Airflow and Automic, along with a working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to deliver high standards of code quality, system reliability, and performance
- Deep understanding of the modern IaC ecosystem to drive automated infrastructure deployments

Metropolis is seeking an Financial Systems Administrator to join our team. You will manage, maintain, and optimize our Oracle Cloud EPM (EPBCS) ecosystem while serving as the strategic bridge between our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization and our centralized Data Engineering teams. In our high-velocity, 5,000-location enterprise, financial accuracy is inextricably linked to operational data. You will not only handle traditional EPM administration but also partner directly with data and operational teams to define technical requirements for integrating non-financial KPIs—such as location churn, new facility onboardings, occupancy rates, and transaction counts—directly from our data warehouse into our financial forecasting models. The ideal candidate brings a strong grasp of EPM architecture, SQL data structures, and the communication skills required to translate complex operational metrics into actionable financial drivers.
What you'll do
- Oversee the end-to-end administration, configuration, and continuous optimization of the Oracle Cloud EPM suite (EPBCS)
- Design, build, and troubleshoot Essbase ASO/BSO cubes to support large-scale operational scenario planning
- Act as the primary technical translator between Finance and centralized Data/IT teams; partner with Data Engineering to define technical requirements, ensuring that data models in our data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake) are properly structured for seamless EPM ingestion
- Collaborate with data teams to ingest high-volume non-financial KPIs (e.g., transaction counts, location churn) into EPM planning cubes
- Troubleshoot integration workflows and perform root-cause analysis on data discrepancies using SQL and Python
- Replace static calculation scripts with dynamic, context-aware logic to optimize system performance across thousands of sparse locations
- Utilize EPM Automate alongside Python or batch scripting for complex job scheduling
- Manage the volatile lifecycle of 5,000+ operational locations; ensure location additions, divestitures, hierarchical changes and associated access permissions, synchronize flawlessly across ERP, CRM, and EPM environments
- Develop and maintain high-impact visualization dashboards (Tableau, Looker, Hex) with intuitive narratives to facilitate executive decision-making; provide user support, training, and documentation for supported applications
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of Oracle EPM (EPBCS/Planning) System Administration and development experience in a high-growth, multi-location enterprise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of data integration tools (EPM Integration Agent, Data Management, EPM Automate) and deep understanding of dependencies between functional components of Oracle EPM
- Proficiency in SQL and Python with a proven track record of automating financial processes
- Must understand modern cloud data structures well enough to perform "handholding" and meaningful collaboration with Data Engineers
- Exceptional ability to bridge the gap between technical data architecture and functional financial insights
- Strong experience partnering with Senior Leadership and the ability to translate "big picture" financial concepts into tactical execution plans for IT

Metropolis is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Data Engineering and Analytics team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for creating value using data and a strong foundation in all aspects of analytics engineering. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in making data accessible and actionable, facilitating informed decision-making throughout the company. You will partner and lead across multiple product team functions and domains and drive impact through your data vision and architecture.
What you'll do
- Design and implement large-scale data warehouses and data marts using Snowflake, Star, or Data Vault 2.0 schemas
- Build and maintain data transformation pipelines using SQL frameworks like dbt to abstract model code
- Write complex SQL including window functions and STRUCT/ARRAY manipulations while adhering to performance best practices
- Manage and optimize DAGs, including troubleshooting task failures and improving run times
- Implement metadata management, data lineage, and security principles such as least-privilege access
- Use a test-driven approach to design systems that trap poor quality data and trigger alerts within the data flow
- Partner with engineering, data science, and business stakeholders to own project scopes
- Mentor others on data best practices to drive impact through your data vision
- Provide architectural guidance to ensure data is accessible and actionable across the company
- Drive technical excellence within the data engineering and analytics domain
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of experience in data/analytics engineering with proficiency in Python and SQL within Snowflake
- 3+ years of experience with dbt
- Owned large-scale data projects that drove significant impact through effective cross-functional partnering
- Led the design, implementation, and monitoring of data warehouses that enable clear product-focused insights
- Expert at SQL, window functions, and query optimization for complex data manipulations
- Applied performance best practices, including partitions, sort keys, and incremental modeling
- Designed systems using test-driven approaches to ensure data quality and flow integrity
- Familiarity with ELT processes and tools to prepare and clean data for analysis
- Skill in using tools like dbt to build data transformation pipelines
- Experience mentoring stakeholders in Data Science, Analytics, PM, and Engineering on data best practices
While not required, these are a plus:
- A dbt certification
