About the Role

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Imagine Worldwide delivers measurable learning impact to children through data-driven decision-making, accountability, and knowledge sharing. This position helps shape how evidence informs scaling decisions and long-term sustainability through government partnerships.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and coordinate with implementing partners and education sector stakeholders (e.g., Ministry of Education and decentralized structures) to ensure high-quality program planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and knowledge management.

The MEAL Manager will join a highly committed and collaborative team dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential. 

Key Responsibilities

The MEAL Manager will work closely with Imagine’s Program Director and local implementing partners to ensure effective monitoring and execution of program activities in Tanzania. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Evidence-Based Program Improvement

• Provide technical leadership for the implementation and continuous improvement of Imagine’s MEAL tools, systems, and methodologies.
• Support rigorous evidence generation to inform scale, nationwide adoption, and institutionalization within government systems.
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to generate lessons learned and apply them to improve program implementation.

Capacity Building & Staff Support

• Build capacity of Imagine and partner staff in setting and using MEAL plans, tools, and strategies.
• Supervise and provide technical oversight to MEAL staff, enumerators, or consultants engaged in research and data collection.

Data Management & Quality Assurance

• Oversee and manage quality data collection to monitor program activities against quality benchmarks.
• Conduct and supervise surveys, assessments, and impact evaluations.

Communication, Reporting & Dissemination

• Collaborate with program and communications teams to document and disseminate impact stories.
• Support the preparation and submission of timely, comprehensive reports for donors and stakeholders.
• Plan learning events (e.g., learning summits, reflection sessions) and contribute to donor engagement.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, Social Sciences, Education).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation in development programs, including working with diverse partners and stakeholders.
• Experience working on programs with a significant technology or digital learning component is preferred.

This program will be rolled out in five regions of mainland (Morogoro, Manyara, Shinyanga, Tabora, and Ruvuma) as well as across 11 districts of Zanzibar. The first phase of the program, launched in May 2025, will reach 533 public primary schools (500 in mainland Tanzania and 33 in Zanzibar) over the course of 15 months. If MsingTek demonstrates improvements in literacy and numeracy outcomes, it will be scaled nationwide in close collaboration with the government. This initiative has the potential to transform the learning journey for millions of children across Tanzania.

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Manager will work closely with Imagine’s Director of Technical Services and local implementing partners to fulfill several areas of responsibility. The first area is quality assurance of the learning software - Learning Content Provider’s software for Android and iOS which is in multiple languages, with a primary focus on Swahili and English. The QA Manager will work with our partner Learning Content Provider and global technology team to test new child-facing activities locally, providing feedback to help improve and iterate with them. They will be required to source, manage and support a team of adhoc testers during major software releases. The second area of quality assurance is targeted A/B experiments conducted on learners as test new or improved versions of the software, and collecting data before rolling out across all schools. The other area of responsibility is quality assurance of the data collection and monitoring systems installed in schools that provide oversight of our programs. This includes testing for and identifying failure points in the system and troubleshooting. The Quality Assurance Manager’s responsibilities will include - but will not be limited to the following:-

Key Responsibilities

Technology Quality Assurance 

• Design, implement, conduct and oversee testing and quality assurance processes for Learning Content Provider’s software or any other software on an ongoing basis as well as during major software updates 
• Setup and manage Imagine test labs in the office and various schools to support the quality assurance work and provide a showcase to funders and external stakeholders 
• Functional testing of software including assessment of: 

○ onecourse learning units (4000 per localisation) o for content errors, incorrect graphics or poor pronunciation and other unexpected behaviours 

○ User experience and journey across adaptive learning sessions, correctness of adaptive algorithm outputs, navigation and menus of the software 

○ Configuration and settings in terms of user profiles, switching languages, OTA update process, and other advanced settings 

○ Data outputs from the software in terms of analytic data correctness 

• Source and manage a team of testers on an adhoc basis before major software releases: ○ Ensure testers are adequately trained to conduct tests 

○ Ensuring quality of issue reporting 

○ Manage division of labour across testers 

○ Tracking individual tester performance.

● Acting as a main local liaison with Learning Content Provider.

A/B Experimentation 

• Design, implement and conduct testing processes for customized versions of software on learners in schools, against defined objectives 
• Data collection and compilation from experiments to inform further decision-making and improvements 
• Contribute to ideation and problem solving to enhance the learner experience and improve learning outcomes
• Testing device performance for various scenarios related to software updates
• Supporting global analytics team with collection of logs and related data from devices being used during program implementation

Data Quality Assurance 

• Design, implement and conduct testing processes for data quality of data obtained from tablets, monitoring systems and other tools used to support the program 
• Develop and implement strategies to ascertain data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency, and integrity 
• Develop and implement strategies to conduct data validation and cleansing where required

About the Role

The Director of Government Partnerships will play an instrumental role in carrying out Imagine’s mission, to design, deliver and scale tablet-based learning solutions that enable children to become literate and numerate in Tanzania, and secondly institutionalizing the program within the government for long-term sustainability. The Director will join a highly committed and collaborative team that is working together to empower every child, everywhere to achieve their full potential. They will work directly with the Executive Director of Imagine Tanzania and Imagine’s Head of Government Partnerships, to manage Imagine’s path to the national adoption of our edtech program, in Tanzania. 

Mission and Objectives

Lead and manage all interactions with government entities to ensure alignment, compliance, and strategic collaboration for program implementation, policy influence, and institutionalization

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but will not be limited to, the following:

Collaboration between Imagine Tanzania and MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT:

• Develop government engagement plans, setting clear objectives, and activities;
• Setup regular meetings with different government stakeholders to discuss program progress and resolve any challenges with implementation;
• Support and facilitate functional teams or working groups between IM, MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT and ensure effective joint planning and delivery of activities between the  IM, MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVt personnel to build government capacity;
• Oversee workstreams, assess resource requirements and plan adequately to support government engagement activities;
• Support the Executive Director engagement with MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT officers at different levels to ensure capacity building and ownership of the program;
• Support program implementation governance arrangements and ensure they operate efficiently between the program and the government;
• Collaborate with the  MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT to implement the program with a clear goal of devolving power and ownership to government actors over time.

Institutionalization of the Program:

• Uphold principles of system strengthening where Imagine plays a temporary role in program implementation with a clear goal of driving  MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT full ownership of the program;
• Lead in-country government engagement strategies in liaison with Imagine Worldwide to ensure continued alignment with Government on key program related matters;
• Liaise with  MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT  's policy and planning units to drive integration of program activities in the Ministry's primary operating systems for enhanced support;
• Contribute to designing metrics and criteria to measure, monitor and report on progress towards institutionalization goals;
• Explore critical partnerships within the government education delivery system and secure their alignment and support for the program.

Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate closing with global Imagine Worldwide on government engagements and efforts to manage stakeholders;
• Develop and manage detailed stakeholder mapping of all relevant government stakeholders and categorise each stakeholders potential influence and impact on our programs and the institutionalization thereof;
• Contribute to and maintain systems (equivalent to a customer relationship management system) to manage stakeholder contact information and track engagements and required actions to enable proactive and considered engagements and mitigate against disruptions in relationships with key government stakeholders;
• Develop and implement engagement plans with prioritized stakeholders to solicit support and secure buy-in through meetings, school visits, special events, hosting workshops, making financial and non-financial contributions to government projects, supporting local edtech hubs etc.

Advocacy and Policy Alignment:

• Develop networks and relationships with key stakeholders in  MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT and other relevant ministries whose decisions or influence has a bearing government’s buy-in to the program such as curriculum pedagogy and energy;
• Organise and coordinate itineraries of school tours for government stakeholders, donor visits and special guests;
• Build and maintain local political and industry relationships to support the program;
• Raise Imagine Worldwide local profile and stature with government bodies and other key education stakeholders through thought leadership and proactive engagement;
• Keep abreast of relevant policy developments in Tanzania and conduct research as required to guide country office program roll out activities;
• Lead advocacy for new policies or policy changes required to enable long-term sustainability of our programs; 
• Support local engagements with multilateral organizations such as GPE and World Bank; 
• Support dissemination of project outcomes and learnings with stakeholders.

Program Implementation:

• Lead collaboration with government stakeholders to achieve alignment on the program implementation, management and governance processes; 
• Support ISP’s presence at district levels to direct program monitoring in collaboration with  MoEST, PoRALG and MoEVT and the District Education Offices;
• Leverage government relationships to manage project risks with creative problem-solving and escalations as required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced degree in political science, education, or social science; 
• A minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in government affairs, preferably in a leadership role within international multicultural organisations (commercial or non-profit).

About the Role

The Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion (GYSI) Lead will be responsible for incorporating gender-responsive, youth-inclusive and socially inclusive approaches to the One Acre Fund Tanzania (OAFTz) program, ensuring that they address the needs and challenges of women, youth and marginalized groups. This person will ensure that the social dimensions in access, awareness and equity are effectively addressed across all activity components and at all levels throughout implementation. The GYSI Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing the gender and youth strategies that ensure the inclusion of women, youth and marginalised groups in the OATz program.

Responsibilities

Gender, Youth and Social inclusion Assessment and Strategy

• Lead the collection, analysis and utilization of information from a wide variety of sources to inform the program’s gender, youth and social inclusion approaches.
• Ensure the use of participatory and collaborative problem-solving approaches to develop strategies and action plans for gender and youth integration and promotion of social inclusion for marginalized groups within the program plans, Theory of Change (ToC) processes, monitoring and learning plans and implementation guides.
• Contribute to refined period formative research and data collection, and related program strategies to ensure gender and youth integration
• Make recommendations to reach youth & women through both traditional and non-traditional channels.

Program Implementation

• Provide gender and youth-related technical support on an ongoing basis to team leads and participate in team planning processes and the implementation, including embedding GYSI principles within extension services and field activities.
• Provide technical support on the implementation of the Social Behavior Change Strategy (SBC) and SBC Communication, ensuring messages and delivery channels are tailored to effectively reach and influence women, youth and marginalized groups at community level.
• Identify and document best practices of the program in implementing gender, youth and social inclusion components for organizational learning, specifically capturing successful approaches in farmer outreach, youth engagement, and community-level inclusion.
• Build the capacity of the farmer-facing teams to apply gender responsive, youth-inclusive, and socially inclusive approaches in their direct engagement with farmers.
• Participate in program design, which includes product and service offerings to ensure they are attractive to youth, are women-friendly and socially inclusive, and guide the development of extension materials and methodologies that are accessible and responsive to diverse needs.
• Support the identification and promotion of inclusive communication channels and peer learning networks for effective outreach to all target groups.

About the Role

The Executive Associate will play a supporting role in carrying out Imagine’s mission, to design, test, and scale tablet-based learning solutions that enable children to become literate and numerate. The position offers an international, flexible, learning environment to enhance individual career development and growth. The Executive Associate will join a highly committed and collaborative team that is working together to empower every child, everywhere to achieve their full potential. They will work directly with the Executive Director of Imagine Tanzania, to support Imagine’s growth in our scale countries. 

Over the next six years, Imagine’s goal is to serve more than 10 million children in at least four countries, ultimately achieving three times the typical level of literacy and numeracy outcomes of national education systems in Africa (60% fluency by the age of 10, as opposed to 20%). This all while delivering the program at less than $7 per child per year.

Key Responsibilities

The Executive Associate will work closely with the Executive Director, focusing not only on providing administrative and operational support but also on driving key organizational initiatives in Tanzania. The ideal candidate must be a strong operator with relationship-building skills. The Executive Associate’s responsibilities will include - but will not be limited to - the  following: 

Administrative Support

• Work directly with the Executive Director to support key aspects of their work;
• Act as the point of contact for the Executive Director in engagements with Imagine Worldwide, the Government and other external partners. This includes receiving calls and visitors, answering a variety of questions with tact and diplomacy, taking messages, and directing calls appropriately for resolution.
• Prepare impactful presentations for meetings, including gathering documents, drafting documents or presentations, and attending to the logistics of meetings;
• Consolidate notes from meetings and discussions, share action steps, and follow up to resolve issues. 
• Draft, review, and send communications on behalf of the Executive Director. Coordinate work with other staff as needed and play a key role in the coordination of organizational efforts both within and outside Imagine Tanzania;
• Collect and consolidate weekly updates across functions for sharing with Executive Director and the entire organization, and proactively identify and flag areas requiring support or improvement:
• Share weekly updates and monitor engagement and questions. 
• Assist with meeting scheduling and manage calendars in line with the Executive Director preferences:
• Conduct weekly detailed review of their calendar and make adjustments as required to facilitate travel and optimize productivity
• Ensure PTO days are loaded and visible on relevant team calendars to protect their breaks;

Country Board Support

• Lead in the preparation and review board packs for board meetings, including gathering documents, drafting documents or presentations and/or formatting documents to deliver highly professional output.
• Take minutes during board meetings, share action steps and follow up to resolve issues.

Organizational Management

• Consolidate requests and inputs to prepare weekly agenda for management  meetings with support from the Executive Director;
• Manage invitations and communications with management  team on meeting changes;
• Support the Executive to manage information flow across the organization and all digital channels, in a timely and accurate manner;
• Track and manage key strategic projects and initiatives, maintaining project plans, monitoring progress against milestones, identifying risks, and ensuring timely delivery of priorities.
• Drive rigorous follow-up structures to monitor performance vs targets; 
• Lead project management processes across priority initiatives, including project planning, scoping, prioritization, execution, and cross-functional coordination to ensure effective delivery.
• Track progress on strategic initiatives, ensuring clear visibility of priorities, timelines, and follow-ups for the Executive Director and leadership team.
• Prepare concise monthly country reports summarizing key metrics and updates from country teams;
• Adopt a data-driven approach to challenges, delving into analytics to identify key areas for improvement and driving initiative;
• Spearhead interdepartmental strategic initiatives, including the rollout of new systems and processes, or process optimizations;
• Keep the Executive Director advised of time-sensitive and priority issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up.

Travel and Logistics Support

• Co-ordination of all travel and logistics for the Executive Director;
• Manage all flight bookings directly or through a travel agent as required, as well as road trips, transfers, and accommodation;
• Complete pre-flight check-ins, flight, and all travel changes that may arise;
• Lead in planning, organization, and execution of in-person retreats and meetings, including, senior leadership retreats, and organization-wide team retreats.
• Assist with travel bookings and logistics for the senior leadership team, donors, and consultants as required.

Knowledge Management & Productivity Tools Support

• Contribute to maintaining the Imagine ‘Playbook' where we codify the ‘Imagine way’ for team members and partners to leverage;

• Support strategies to drive utilization and adoption of online collaboration and productivity tools for project management and stakeholder management, to enable as much asynchronous work as possible and maximize team productivity;
• Lead and coach team members on the use of online collaboration and productivity tools to enable as much asynchronous work as possible to maximise working hours

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations management, project management, or a similar field.
• Strong digital literacy skills using a variety of no-code, artificial intelligence tools, other productivity and collaboration tools.
• Additional work experience is welcome.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritize and display a high level of adaptability/flexibility

Location

The Executive Associate must be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and will travel frequently within the country.
