IT Infrastructure Engineer

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Infrastructure Engineer to oversee the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring its stability and efficiency while engineering effective solutions. This role combines hands‑on execution with engaging external technology partners, as needed, to help implement and embed our IT standards within a portfolio company. The IT Infrastructure Engineer is also responsible for supporting gap assessments by identifying where a portfolio company does not meet a given standard and helping to address and close those gaps. Additional responsibilities include building projects such as implementing audio visual solutions for conference rooms and other workspaces, meeting building security requirements including access control and camera systems, addressing low‑voltage needs, and installing network equipment, printers, and other technology equipment as required. They possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and can articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

About the Role We are seeking a mission-driven, technically proficient System Administrator who thrives in secure, high-tempo IT environments. This role is ideal for an individual with strong analytical thinking, a disciplined approach to operations, and a proven background supporting enterprise systems across classified, unclassified, and cloud-based networks. You will be joining a team that manages and sustains critical IT infrastructure essential to organizational readiness. This includes maintaining system stability, ensuring compliance with government and DoD standards, supporting virtualized environments, and delivering responsive technical support to users and partner teams. Key Responsibilities • Perform installation, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of operating systems, applications, and enterprise hardware. • Provide system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and timely resolution for technical issues across workstations, networks, and end-user environments. • Manage user accounts, patching cycles, system backups/restores, and performance tuning for mission-critical systems. • Support Active Directory administration including account lifecycle management, group policies, and domain operational health. • Maintain classified and unclassified systems in accordance with compliance requirements. • Deliver network support for voice, data, video, and communications systems across multiple locations. • Support VMware environments, virtual desktop infrastructure, thin/zero clients, and related virtualization tools. • Lead or contribute to Configuration Management (CM) processes including documentation, hardware tracking, and configuration management database updates. • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, configuration notes, testing reports, and lifecycle logs. • Engage in audits, compliance checks, system hardening, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications • 1 year of experience in system administration, network support, configuration management, or related IT fields. • Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems • Knowledge of Cisco networking concepts, or virtualization technologies, or Active Directory. • Demonstrated ability to operate in secure government environments with DoD compliance requirements. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell). • Experience with virtual networking, NSX basics, or GPU compute. • Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI. • Interest in AI/ML or HPC technologies. • Familiarity with cloud environments and hybrid infrastructure. • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation abilities. |
