THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Marketing Communications Manager / Lead Writer to lead thought leadership and content development across APAC.
This role sits at the intersection of PR, content, and marketing, and is responsible for shaping compelling narratives that position Monks as a leader in marketing, technology, and culture.
You will work closely with regional and global stakeholders to develop high-quality content, amplify key moments (including events), and build a consistent and credible voice in the industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Thought Leadership & Content Creation
- Lead the development of thought leadership content across APAC
- Write and edit:
- Articles and opinion pieces (e.g. Campaign, WARC, trade media)
- LinkedIn posts and executive narratives
- POVs on key industry topics (AI, commerce, social, content, technology)
- Translate complex ideas into clear, engaging, and impactful content
- Shape and refine leadership voices across the region
2) Awards & Industry Recognition
- Support awards strategy, submissions and logistic across APAC (e.g. Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Campaign Asia Awards, Spikes Asia, Effies)
- Partner with internal teams to identify award-worthy work and stories
- Manage timelines, submissions, and coordination with markets and global teams
- Leverage award wins for PR, content, and amplification
3) Event Content & Amplification
- Working closely with event team to develop and maximize event impact
- Repurpose event content into:
- Social content
- Articles and PR stories
- Case studies and internal materials
4) PR & Media Relations
- Identify and develop media opportunities
- Support pitching of stories to key industry and trade publications
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant media contacts
5) Content Strategy & Systems
- Working closely with Marketing VP to establish a consistent content cadence across markets
- Build a repeatable framework to turn key moments into ongoing content
- Ensure alignment with global messaging while localizing for APAC relevance
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6–10 years of experience in PR, content, editorial, or communications
- Exceptional writing and editing skills in English (native or near-native level), Mandarin is a plus.
- Experience developing thought leadership or long-form content
- Strong understanding of marketing, advertising, and media landscape
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders and translate ideas into narratives
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Background in agency, advertising media, or editorial/journalism
- Experience working across multiple APAC markets
- Familiarity with industry platforms such as Campaign, WARC, or similar
- Experience supporting events, speaking engagements, or executive profiling

Role Overview
WPP Media Choreograph China is seeking a Product Owner to join our core Product Enablement team. This is a specialized, high-impact role that functions as a hybrid between a Strategic Product Owner and a Lead Business Analyst. You will own specific product domains (Discovery & Planning, & Activation), taking full responsibility for engaging business stakeholders to extract requirements and translating them into rigorous technical specifications. You will serve as the "Voice of the User" and the primary author of product documentation, ensuring that our development teams have precisely defined user stories to execute against.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Elicitation & Business Analysis
- Direct Stakeholder Engagement:Personally conduct deep-dive interviews, workshops, and desk-side observations with Media Strategy and Planning teams. You must proactively identify user pain points and workflow friction without relying on others to collect this information.
- Workflow Mapping:Create detailed "As-Is" and "To-Be" process maps to visualize complex media planning workflows (e.g., Reach & Frequency calculations, Audience Segmentation), identifying opportunities for automation and productization.
- Cross-Functional Translation:Act as the translator between non-technical business users (Strategy/Planning) and technical engineering teams. You must be comfortable explaining business context to developers and technical constraints to planners.
- Product Ownership & Rigorous Documentation
- Technical Writing:Produce high-quality, developer-ready documentation. You will personally write User Stories(using standard formats like Gherkin/Acceptance Criteria), Functional Specification Documents (FSD), and API integration requirements in English.
- Backlog Management:Own and groom the product backlog. You will prioritize features based on business value and technical feasibility, working directly with the PMO Lead to align scope with delivery windows.
- Developer Collaboration:engage directly with Global and Local developers during sprints to clarify logic, review prototypes, and make real-time trade-off decisions.
- Quality Assurance & Validation
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT):define UAT plans and personally validate that delivered software meets the acceptance criteria before release.
- Data Validation:Ensure the accuracy of media logic and algorithms within the tools (e.g., verifying that reach curves are calculated correctly).
Qualifications & Technical Requirements
- Professional Experience:8+ years in Digital Product Management or Technical Business Analysis. Experience in AdTechor MarTech is strongly recommended.
- Hard Skills – Technical:
- Documentation Tools:Proficiency in Jira (for backlog management) and Confluence (for technical specs) or equivalents.
- Process Mapping:Proficiency in Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools for creating BPMN or workflow diagrams.
- Data Literacy:Basic to Intermediate SQL skills (ability to query data to validate logic) and a strong understanding of APIs (conceptual understanding of endpoints, JSON payloads, and integrations).
- Domain Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of Media Planning& Strategy workflows is highly preferred.
- Understanding of the China Digital Media Ecosystem(e.g., User IDs, Walled Garden API limitations) is critical.
- Core Competencies:
- The "Writer" Mindset:A self-starter who enjoys the detailed work of documentation and specification writing.
- Communication:Exceptional soft skills for extracting information from busy stakeholders.
- Language:Native/Fluent Mandarin and excellent Written/Spoken English are non-negotiable for spec writing.
