The Production Engineering team is a newly formed organization within Anduril's Software Platform, dedicated to ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical systems that directly support our warfighters in the field. We solve complex reliability challenges at massive scale, ensuring that critical components of Lattice—Anduril's autonomous command and control platform—operates flawlessly in the most demanding operational environments.
This is a foundational role and you will be among the first hires building this team from the ground up. You'll have the unique opportunity to shape the technical direction, establish best practices, and define what production engineering excellence means at Anduril. Our team operates at the intersection of software engineering and systems reliability, building the infrastructure, tooling, and processes that keep our systems operational 24/7/365.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer who is passionate about building resilient, highly available systems that scale to meet the demands of the core systems powering Lattice. You will work closely with platform engineering teams, product developers, and field operations to proactively identify reliability risks, implement defensive strategies, and continuously improve the operational excellence of our software platform. WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design and implement comprehensive monitoring, observability, and alerting systems to ensure early detection of reliability issues across the Lattice platform
- Drive incident response and conduct blameless postmortems to identify systemic improvements and prevent recurrence of production issues
- Build and maintain infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes operators, and custom tooling to manage large-scale distributed systems
- Establish and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets to balance feature velocity with system reliability
- Partner with software engineering teams to improve system architecture for reliability, implementing patterns like circuit breakers, graceful degradation, and chaos engineering
- Develop capacity planning models and performance testing frameworks to ensure systems can handle growth and peak operational demands
- Create runbooks, documentation, and training materials to enable teams to operate production systems effectively
- Lead cross-functional efforts to improve deployment safety through progressive rollouts, automated testing, and rollback capabilities
- Implement security best practices and compliance controls for production environments handling sensitive defense data
- Build tooling and automation to reduce toil and improve operational efficiency for the engineering organization
- Participate in on-call rotations and serve as an escalation point for critical production incidents
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of engineering experience with at least 3+ years focused on SRE, production operations, or infrastructure engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes in production environments, including operational challenges at scale (100+ nodes)
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or Java with ability to build production-grade tooling
- Proven experience designing and implementing observability stacks (metrics, logging, tracing) using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure as code practices
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex distributed systems issues across multiple layers of the stack
- Track record of improving system reliability through architectural changes, not just operational band-aids
- Strong incident management and communication skills, with experience leading responses to critical outages
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical systems where downtime has severe consequences
- Expertise in performance optimization and capacity planning for high-throughput, low-latency systems
- Knowledge of chaos engineering principles and experience implementing resilience testing frameworks
- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) and advanced traffic management patterns
- Background in database operations and optimization (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, or similar at scale)
- Familiarity with CI/CD platforms and deployment automation (ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker, Jenkins)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including load balancing, DNS, TLS/SSL, and network security
- Experience with configuration management and secrets management solutions (Vault, Sealed Secrets, SOPS)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Active Secret or higher security clearance

Role Overview
As part of our Application Infrastructure org, this is a team building Coupang’s next-generation Real-Time Streaming & AI Platform that powers the end customer website and mobile apps.
We are looking for a visionary Staff Software Engineer to lead the architectural design of a platform capable of processing over 100k+ events per second with sub-second, end-to-end latency. This system will serve as the central nervous system for Coupang, enabling real-time product and customer data and instant personalization. You will build a system that doesn't just meet industry standards but sets them, ensuring 5-6 nines availability while leveraging AI to optimize data flows and automate complex system behaviors.
What You Will Do
- Architect for Velocity: Lead the end-to-end design of a distributed streaming engine. You will Build the Best Team and Help Them Grow by setting the gold standard for high-throughput, low-latency architectural integrity.
- Define Extreme Performance: Design for "5-6 nines" (99.9999% availability) at a throughput of 100k+ events/sec. You will Dive Deep into JVM tuning, memory management, and network I/O to ensure sub-second latency across global clusters.
- AI-Driven Streaming: Integrate AI/ML models directly into the stream processing path. Implement predictive scaling and intelligent load balancing to ensure we Wow the Customer through seamless, real-time platform responsiveness.
- Solve Hard Problems: Address challenges related to distributed consistency, at times, exactly-once processing guarantees, and backpressure management. You must Be Data-Driven to validate architectural decisions against massive, bursty traffic patterns.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field
- 4 years of experience in backend software development
- Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework
- Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining highly available, distributed systems

Pay & Benefits
Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.
The base pay for this position ranges from $152,000/year to $282,000/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000-$200,000. Location: This role is based out of our Seattle Office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. - Impact the development and design; launching new features and initiatives
- Lead engineering architecture design reviews
- Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
- Mentoring & coaching engineers
- Working across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers
- Identify improvements to raise our engineering process, including long-term thinking
- Building services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this mission-critical space
- Scaling our APIs, cloud services and ingestion pipelines
- Working with the latest Agentic AI engineering tools (Claude, OpenAI / Codex, Cursor)
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience designing and delivering highly-available, scalable cloud-based systems
- Backend service experience in multiple, managed languages such as Go, Java, Python, or similar
- Experience with frontend technologies including React or Angular
- Experience working with SQL or NoSQL data stores such as MySQL, Cassandra, elasticsearch

Role Overview
As part of our Application Infrastructure org, this is a greenfield team that will impact complex Coupang workflow systems. We need to create a set of systems that will allow rapid workflow development for hundreds of domain teams, allowing critical infrastructure like rocket delivery service. It is a highly visible system with hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue flowing through the systems. It is a chance to design from scratch, and create a reliable workflow service at scale.
We are looking for a visionary Staff Software Engineer to lead the architectural design and implementation of our next-generation durable execution platform. This team is tasked with building a highly scalable, fault-tolerant system from scratch that enables developers to write long-running, reliable workflows as code.

What You Will Do
- Architect from Zero: Lead the end-to-end design of a distributed workflow engine. You will Build the Best Team and Help Them Grow by setting the gold standard for architectural integrity and high-performance code.
- Define Extreme Availability: Design for "5-6 nines" (99.9999% availability). You will Dive Deep into the tail latencies and edge cases of distributed state management to ensure our platform is always on for our customers.
- AI-Driven Automation: Integrate AI/ML models to automate system functionality, including predictive scaling, automated bottleneck detection, and intelligent error recovery, ensuring we Wow the Customer through seamless platform performance and availability.
- Solve Hard Problems: Address challenges related to distributed locking, timers, and deterministic execution. You must Be Data-Driven to validate architectural decisions against massive traffic patterns.
- Lead with Influence: As a Staff Engineer, you will Influence without Authority, collaborating across the organization to ensure this platform becomes the backbone of our global operations.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field
- 6 years of experience in backend software development
- Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework
- Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining highly available, distributed systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience, specifically building backend infrastructure that supports global-scale traffic.
- High Availability Mastery: Proven track record of managing and maintaining systems with 5-6 nines of availability. You understand that "good enough" isn't enough; we Focus on the Customer and the Experience by ensuring zero downtime.
- Distributed Systems Expert: Deep expertise in designing and deploying mission-critical systems (e.g., databases, messaging queues, or orchestration engines) from the ground up.
- Technical Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Java, Python with deep understanding of concurrency and memory management.
- AI Integration: Experience or a strong architectural vision for using AI/ML to automate system-level functionality and operational tasks.
- Specialized Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the Temporal or Cadence programming models and their underlying architecture. Experience in Kubernetes and containerization.
- Stateful Database Experience: Experience with Cassandra and TiDB preferred
- Open Source Leadership: Experience contributing to major open-source distributed systems projects.
- Observability Expert: Expertise in building highly observable systems using distributed tracing and advanced telemetry to proactively identify issues.
Pay & Benefits
Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.
The base pay for this position ranges from $164,000/year to $282,000/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

- Use market and technical knowledge to consult on best practices and offer constructive direction for solution architecture and design

- Drive customer success with real-world knowledge and recommendations
- Develop a trusted advisory role with customers, communicating upcoming product changes, enhancements, and serving as an internal voice of the customer
- Work with the post-sales teams to ensure every customer realizes the value of the BigID Platform and continues to contribute to the success of BigID customers
What you’ll bring:
