The RF Engineer for our Products line is responsible for working on new designs based on customer requirements and products that contribute to our portfolio of product offerings, as well as solving issues with existing designs.

The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Engineering department. This role is onsite and based in San Diego, CA. 

In this role, the essential functions are:

• Derive and document RF subsystem (UC, DC, PA and LNA) requirements from system or top-level requirements
• Produce RF schematics to capture the design
• Layout and/or guide the layout of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) based on schematic
• Validate the design; troubleshoot and test complex RF circuit boards and assemblies
• Develop RF test procedures, possibly performing them when needed
• Assist with manufacturing of complex PCBAs and resolve issues with their integration into higher assemblies
• Provide system integration and test troubleshooting support
• Be able to meet aggressive/accelerated schedule deadlines.
• Support internal and external design and development gate reviews with related documentation
• Support customer meetings
• Participate in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Master’s degree with an emphasis on RF
• 6+ years of experience in RF hardware/schematic design (preferably Altium) from UHF to Ka-band
• Experience designing LNAs and Power Amplifiers up to 10W at Ka/Ku-band
• Analysis/simulations, PCB layout (preferably Altium) and test experience from UHF to Ka-band
• Experience with RF test equipment and lab practices
• Capable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects & supporting production activities
• Strong technical background; capable of coming up-to-speed quickly on new technologies

Preferred Qualifications: 2 maximum

• Knowledge of space environment design issues including EMI/EMC, radiation, temperature, shock, vibration a plus
• Knowledge of Python, C/C++, MATLAB & scripting/test automation a plus
• Experience with EDA software such as Altium, AWR/MWO, Genesys/ADS, etc., a plus

The good faith base salary range for this role is $125,000–$195,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. We are looking for an Antenna Design Engineer to join our hardware team in San Diego or San Francisco. This  person will be working with a multidisciplinary team developing our future product development efforts.

What You’ll Do

• Design, simulate, and optimize antennas for low-power wearable devices, including multi-band solutions.
• Build prototypes quickly and effectively to evaluate design concepts
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to integrate antennas into highly constrained form factors.
• Perform electromagnetic simulations (e.g., HFSS, CST, FEKO) and validate designs with bench and OTA measurements.
• Conduct over-the-air (OTA) performance testing and troubleshooting in collaboration with test engineering teams.
  Drive root cause analysis and design iteration for antenna performance issues in prototypes and production units.
• Work with suppliers, CM partners, and manufacturing teams to ensure antenna performance is maintained throughout production.
• Document design processes, results, and performance metrics for internal knowledge sharing and regulatory compliance.
• Stay up to date on emerging materials, methods, and technologies in miniature antenna design.
• Travel to support prototype builds in both Asia, Europe, and North America: ~15-20% of time yearly

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 7+ years  experience in antenna design, preferably for compact consumer electronics, wearables or IoT devices.
• Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, or FEKO.
  Experience with antenna measurement tools (e.g., vector network analyzers, OTA chambers).
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, matching networks, and PCB layout considerations for antennas.
• Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts clearly.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a hands-on Hardware Team Manager to lead a small, high impact engineering team developing mixed-signal products that combine an extensive RF front end with an FPGA-based digital subsystem. This person will own end-to-end hardware delivery—from architecture and design through validation, manufacturing handoff, and successful product shipment. 

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable doing deep technical work and guiding others. You’ll drive technical decisions, enforce disciplined engineering execution, and ensure boards are tested, reliable, and delivered on schedule. Demonstrated experience shipping products to production are required.

Responsibilities:

• Own system-level hardware architecture for products with a complex RF front end and FPGA/digital backend. 
• Translate product requirements into board-level specifications, block diagrams, and design tradeoffs. 
• Lead design reviews and ensure architectural coherence across RF, high-speed digital, power, and mixed-signal domains. 
• Partner closely with FPGA/embedded/software teams to define interfaces, timing, and validation strategies.
• Drive full PCB development lifecycle: schematic → layout oversight → bring-up → validation → revisions → release. 
• Manage board delivery schedules, risk tracking, and cross-functional dependencies. 
• Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and compliance requirements are met. 
• Own the hardware release process, including BOM health, AVL selection, ECOs, and documentation.

ABOUT YOU

Required:

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field. 
• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience, including RF front-end design.
• 3+ years managing or leading small hardware teams (formal manager or strong technical lead). 
• Demonstrated experience shipping hardware products to production—not just prototypes. 
• Understanding of RF concepts: gain/noise budgets, matching networks, filtering, mixers/LOs, LNA/PA chains, isolation, spur management, calibration, etc.
• Strong mixed-signal and high-speed digital design experience (interfaces to FPGA/SoC, DDR, SERDES, JESD, LVDS, etc.). 
• Proven capability in board bring-up, lab debug, and performance characterization.
• Familiarity with PCB layout constraints for RF and high-speed digital (stackups, controlled impedance, shielding, grounding strategies). 
• Experience with manufacturing handoff: DFM/DFT, test fixtures, production yield triage, and sustaining engineering.

Preferred:

• Experience with phased arrays, radar, wireless sensing, or other RF-intensive systems.
• Prior ownership of RF regulatory/compliance testing (FCC/CE/ETSI), EMI/EMC, and environmental qualification. 
• Familiarity with FPGA-adjacent hardware validation (clocking, timing closure considerations, power integrity for large FPGAs). 
• Experience designing RF test setups and automating measurements (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meter, etc.) 
• Track record of improving engineering processes for speed and reliability.

At RADAR, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $240,000. We are looking for an Senior Electrical Engineer to join our hardware team working on future wearables and accessory devices reporting directly to the Director, Electrical Engineering.  This opportunity will be hybrid out of our San Diego office.

What You will do:

• Electrical Design and development of cutting-edge wearable and other consumer devices, with a keen focus to detail, precision, and reliability.  This includes electrical architecture, component selection, schematic design, and integration into PCBs, flexes, and other new technologies as required. 
• Conduct thorough testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to ensure they meet performance, quality, reliability, and safety standards. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop test plans.
• Oversee manufacturing and testing of PCBs, flexes, and overall product at our manufacturing facility, collaborating closely with the contract manufacturer.
• Work closely with mechanical and sensor engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical components within the product's physical design. Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop embedded systems and ensure software-hardware compatibility.

Requirements:

• Electrical Design and Validation: Experience designing and validating custom analog and digital circuits and systems, including component selection, signal processing, and extremely comfortable with many communication protocols: UART, I2C, MIPI, SPI, DSI, and others.  Experience scripting basic functions and working alongside firmware engineers to automate testing. 
• Design Software Tools:  Experience working with schematic capture and PCB layout software (ie. Altium, Cadence, etc)
• Prototyping: Hands on experience building prototypes and validating electrical and signal performance using typical EE lab equipment: rework equipment, DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and power analyzers.

Role Overview:

The Electronic Lab Technician will support research, development, and quality assurance processes within the Radio Frequency (RF) lab. You will work closely with engineers to assemble, test, and troubleshoot RF devices and circuits used in wireless communications and other high-frequency applications.

Responsibilities:

• Testing & Measurement: Set up and operate specialized RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers (VNA), signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose signal interference, component failures, and complex system integration issues in RF circuits and finished assemblies.
• Lab Maintenance: Build and manage automated characterization racks; ensure all lab equipment is calibrated and functioning at maximum efficiency.
