A day in the life (Responsibilities)
- Lead complex projects within a cross-functional collaborative and supportive environment.
- Orchestrate our backend services to support internationalization working across software both in the restaurant and the cloud
- Design, build, deploy and maintain highly resilient and scalable systems critical to our customers’ success.
- Iterate on our technical approach to data management in support our international strategy
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, leading technical discussions and promoting best engineering practices.
- Work directly with pilot customers (sometimes in the restaurant!) to ensure successful delivery and operation
- Advocate for best coding practices, raising the bar for yourself, your team, and the company.
- Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.
What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)
- 8+ years of experience in delivering high quality, reliable services to production using Java, Kotlin or other object oriented language(s)
- Proven track record of architecting, supporting and debugging large distributed & multi threaded applications.
- Drive to work across our tech stack and support other engineers in resolving challenging problems
- Passionate about making users happy and seeing people use your product in the wild.
- Ability to embrace an agile mindset focused on delivering usable software.
- Experience with fiscalisation, internationalization is a plus

How you will make an impact:
As a Software Engineer II, Infrastructure on the Queueing and DBOps team, you’ll:
- Help operate the infrastructure behind Iterable’s mission‑critical data systems, including high-throughput Apache Pulsar clusters, RDS Postgres/Aurora, Elasticache/Valkey, and OpenSearch.
- Implement safe, automated patterns for upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes (e.g., blue‑green and rolling deployments) that keep our uptime and data integrity SLOs.
- Build and evolve Terraform/IaC modules and other “golden path” tooling that make it easy for engineering teams to adopt our platforms safely and consistently.
- Partner closely with our backend engineers to provide the infrastructure foundations for libraries and features, including rate limiting, database caching, and CDC pipelines.
You’ll work in a small, high‑impact team where your decisions directly influence Iterable’s reliability, costs, and ability to ship new data-powered features.
What you’ll do
- Run a reliable data infrastructure at scale
- Operate production Pulsar, database, caching, and search clusters with a focus on high availability, performance, and predictable behavior.
- Implement and refine alerting, dashboards, and runbooks to catch issues early and reduce incident MTTR.
- Standardize and automate infrastructure patterns
- Extend and maintain Terraform modules and other shared tooling used across engineering for team-owned services.
- Drive consistency in how environments are provisioned and configured, reducing drift and simplifying audits, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Deliver safer upgrades and migrations
- Contribute to zero‑downtime upgrade strategies for all team-owned infrastructure
- Support strategic migrations with high‑quality plans, test coverage, and rollout mechanics.
- Level up reliability and on‑call
- Participate in the on‑call rotation for Queuing and DBOps infrastructure, owning incident response and follow‑ups for your domains.
- Turn incident learnings into durable improvements in tooling, automation, and documentation.
Required Core Competencies & Proficiencies
- Have 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Infrastructure / SRE / Platform engineer, or similar role.
- Have hands‑on experience operating cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS) in production, including at least one of:
- Managed databases (Postgres/Aurora or similar)
- Distributed queues/streaming systems
- Caching systems
- Search or analytics datastores
- Are comfortable writing production code in at least one modern language; experience with Python and/or Golang and/or Java is a plus.
- Have practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Enjoy debugging complex distributed systems and tracking down performance bottlenecks across services, databases, and queues.
- Communicate clearly with both infra and backend engineers and are comfortable collaborating across teams.
- Bring a growth mindset and a bias toward automation, simplification, and long‑term reliability over one‑off fixes.

As a Machine Learning Platform Engineer at Iterable, you will design, evolve, and maintain our core ML infrastructure and the paved roads on which we build intelligence into our product. As a high tech marketing platform, we work with thousands of high scale and diverse enterprise customers. What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end development of ML pipelines, from prototyping and experimentation through to production deployment, enabling AI-powered features at scale.
- Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure that powers our ML services (e.g., Databricks, AWS, Ray, Kubernetes).
- Develop robust observability and experimentation frameworks to ensure reliable model deployment, monitoring, and continuous iteration.

- 3+ years of experience in backend and/or infrastructure engineering.

How you will make a difference
As an Android Software Engineer II on the SDK team at Iterable, you’ll contribute to our Android and Flutter SDK and related mobile integration features that enable customers to send billions of personalized messages to people around the world each year. This includes adding new features to our existing integration channels such as SMS and Push Notifications, and helping build out support for new mobile and device channels we may add in the future (for example Roku, Messenger, WhatsApp, Android Auto, and others).
You’ll work closely with our Product team to refine product features and determine the feasibility of upcoming projects, and you’ll collaborate with teams such as Delivery and User Data Infrastructure to ensure the products and services the mobile team builds remain fast, reliable, and scalable.

You’ll get to
- Own Android SDKs and associated functionality, ensuring they are robust, intuitive, and integrate cleanly with our Flutter SDK and other cross-platform environments.
- Influence technical strategy to build SDKs and integrations mobile developers will love, with clear APIs, reliable behavior, and thoughtful support for Flutter use cases.
- Drive team discussions on system architecture and component design, with an eye toward cross-platform usage patterns (native + Flutter).
- Design intuitive and performant APIs that feel natural to Android and Flutter developers alike.
- Participate in code reviews and help uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Ship code frequently in an iterative environment, balancing quality and speed.
- Collaborate with a small, nimble team of engineers that values ownership, autonomy, and learning.
- Partner with Product and other Iterable teams to deliver on the team’s technical vision for mobile and cross‑platform channels.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to help support our customers (currently about once per quarter).
We are looking for people who have
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in mobile development, with a strong track record of building and shipping Android applications or SDKs (SWE II level).
- Strong knowledge of Android and its core frameworks, along with solid understanding of mobile platforms and constraints.
- Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin or Java, and modern Android tooling and libraries.
- Solid computer science fundamentals (threading, memory management, performance, and testing best practices).
- Experience building and maintaining public-facing APIs and/or SDKs, ideally for external developers.
- Hands-on experience with Flutter in a production or near‑production context (for example, shipping features in a Flutter app, building a Flutter plugin, or integrating a native Android SDK into a Flutter codebase). This experience is strongly preferred and will be used day‑to‑day in the role.
- Passion for learning and continuously improving yourself, your team, and the developer experience you create.

How you will make a difference:
- Contribute to team roadmap and planning sessions to enhance customer value of the product.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product, and design to conceptualize and build new product features.
- Be personally responsible for the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial engineering design and planning through development, deployment, and success in production.
- Develop solutions to scale a complex platform that reaches millions of users.

We are looking for people who have:
- 5+ years relevant software development experience.
- Relevant industry experience building production-ready, scalable web applications.
