ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
onX is seeking a 6-month fixed-term Product Designer who will contribute to meaningful, real-world outcomes that have a lasting impact for customers and the business. In this role, you’ll focus on design iterations and variations to Hunt’s and Offroad’s newest onboarding flows as part of the Growth team, supporting the team’s primary goal of increasing conversion by helping new users find value in the product. You’ll take ownership of your work, collaborate closely with partners across the organization, and help move initiatives forward in an environment where priorities evolve, learning is celebrated, and you’re encouraged to keep stretching your skills. This role will report to the Head of Product Design and User Research.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Essential Job Duties & Functions
- Collaborative design work alongside the team’s PM and engineers
- Translate ideas and hypotheses into conceptual designs and prototypes
- Refinement of conceptual designs into full-system ready-for-dev designs
- Present designs to the team, fellow Product Designers, and potentially stakeholders across the organization
- Look for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows by integrating experimentation into real work, and continuously refining its use with sound judgment and validation.
ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
- Duration: This fixed-term position is expected to start immediately and last approximately 6 months.
- Weekly Hours: We anticipate this role will work 40 hours weekly.
- Assignment Completion Bonus: Upon the successful completion of your full assignment, this position is eligible for an assignment completion bonus at the end of the contract.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction / UX or equivalent experience
- Four (4) or more years of experience designing onboarding, signup, purchase, or educational flows
- A strong curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI
- A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values
- Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX
- This position requires that a portfolio of work samples be submitted for consideration
ADDED BONUSES

- Content design or UX copywriting expertise

HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $119,000 and $140,000 annually upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, education, and other factors as required in the job description.

Responsibilities
- Design Creation and Implementation: You will be responsible for creating visual designs specifically for mobile and native UI functionality included with Esri's mapping SDKs. This includes designing UX/UI solutions at various levels of fidelity, from high-level wireframes and mock-ups to detailed visual designs, technical documents, diagrams, and interactive prototypes. Your designs will convert complex requirements into intuitive, easy-to-use, and accessible interfaces.
- Design Coherence and Guidance: You will drive the overall design coherence by providing interaction and visual design guidance. This involves conducting design reviews, ensuring that the design standards are maintained across all products, and producing detailed production design specifications for the development team.
- Team Collaboration and Inspiration: You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders. You will also be an advocate for UX activities, clearly communicating their value to team members, stakeholders, and partners.
- Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Staying up to date with the latest design patterns and technologies is crucial in this role. You will continuously learn and adapt, integrating new trends and technologies into your design process to keep Esri's products at the cutting edge of user experience design.
Requirements
- 2+ years in UX, UI, or interaction design, particularly focusing on mobile and desktop application UIs
- Proficient in using design software such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
- Understanding of best practices in user-centered design and possess strong graphic design skills; this includes expertise in typography, intuitive layouts, user journeys, storytelling, and grid-based design
- Familiarity with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Google’s Material Design
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, graphic design, computer science, or a related field
- An online portfolio that demonstrates your design abilities, how you think, and a strong understanding of client objectives
Recommended Qualifications
- Knowledge of qualitative and mixed-method UX research methodologies will be beneficial, helping to inform and validate your design decisions

- Comfortable discussing technical constraints and trade-offs with engineering teams
- Enthusiastic about working in depth at the feature level of the Dashboards application; willing to explore multiple approaches to a single solution
- Interest in data visualization and representation along with willingness to learn about design aesthetics specific to dashboards will be greatly appreciated
- Knowledge of or experience in localization (L10N) or internationalization (I18N)
- Expertise in accessibility (WCAG 2.0/Section 508 Compliance) and a strong track record of collaborating with developers to address and resolve accessibility-related challenges

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of design work from brainstorming, sketching, and prototyping through to implementation
- Produce high fidelity visuals that are consistent across apps and conform to platform conventions
- Collaborate closely with developers to ensure a high-quality implementation and user experience
- Effectively organize and communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale to the wider development team
- Facilitate design exercises that encourage participatory and iterative design techniques
- Work closely with design and product leadership to become a key player in determining the future direction of Esri’s field applications
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing applications
- Expert knowledge of user-centered design principles and platform interface guidelines
- Proficient skills with design software including Sketch, or Figma
- Experience creating diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interface design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to solve problems in collaboration with a team of designers, engineers, and QA as well as with business stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in human factors, interaction design, psychology, or a related field

- Background in software engineering to include writing code as part of your career, hobbies, or education
- Experience working client side as a UX designer on products at a software development company

As a user experience/user interface (UX/UI) designer, you will create outstanding mobile, desktop, and cross-platform user experiences. You will help design and build innovative user experiences for apps built with developer technologies focusing on maps, location, geography, and GIS. Responsibilities
- Design Creation and Implementation: You will be responsible for creating visual designs specifically for mobile and native UI functionality included with Esri's mapping SDKs. This includes designing UX/UI solutions at various levels of fidelity, from high-level wireframes and mock-ups to detailed visual designs, technical documents, diagrams, and interactive prototypes. Your designs will convert complex requirements into intuitive, easy-to-use, and accessible interfaces.
- Design Coherence and Guidance: You will drive the overall design coherence by providing interaction and visual design guidance. This involves conducting design reviews, ensuring that the design standards are maintained across all products, and producing detailed production design specifications for the development team.
- Team Collaboration and Inspiration: You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders. You will also be an advocate for UX activities, clearly communicating their value to team members, stakeholders, and partners.
- Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Staying up to date with the latest design patterns and technologies is crucial in this role. You will continuously learn and adapt, integrating new trends and technologies into your design process to keep Esri's products at the cutting edge of user experience design.
Requirements
- 2+ years in UX, UI, or interaction design, particularly focusing on mobile and desktop application UIs
- Proficient in using design software such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
- Understanding of best practices in user-centered design and possess strong graphic design skills; this includes expertise in typography, intuitive layouts, user journeys, storytelling, and grid-based design
- Familiarity with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Google’s Material Design
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, graphic design, computer science, or a related field

WHAT YOU WILL DO
onX is seeking a Senior Product Designer, AI Foundations, to help shape how AI is thoughtfully integrated into our product ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of emerging technology, evolving user expectations, and real-world product constraints.
Our AI practice is actively developing, and we are experimenting, learning, and refining how AI should show up in our products. We are looking for a senior designer who is comfortable working in ambiguous spaces and can help define foundational interaction models, experience principles, and patterns that others can build on over time.
In this role, you will design and prototype AI-enabled experiences from early exploration through iteration, helping ensure that technical AI capabilities are aligned to meaningful customer problems. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Research to explore, test, and refine AI-driven workflows that are useful, trustworthy, and grounded in real user needs.
This role is an individual contributor position within the UX Design & Research team. You may own one or more AI-focused initiatives while also influencing broader design direction through shared patterns, documentation, and storytelling. You will report to the Head of UX Design & Research and work closely with the AI Foundations team.
As an onX Senior Product Designer, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:
- Lead design efforts in early-stage, AI-enabled problem spaces where best practices are still emerging. This includes shaping interaction models, defining appropriate experience boundaries, and translating complex AI-driven capabilities into intuitive, usable experiences for customers.
- Work in iterative cycles that prioritize learning and signal in early phases while also considering how design decisions contribute to durable UX foundations over time. This may include contributing to patterns, principles, and guidance that support broader AI adoption across the product organization.
- Apply systems thinking to anticipate downstream effects, edge cases, failure modes, and trust implications associated with AI-enabled features. In collaboration with Product and Engineering, you will help clarify trade-offs, constraints, and responsible uses of AI in customer-facing workflows.
- Conduct lightweight research as part of your design process, including interviews, usability testing, and synthesis, and partner with UX Research when deeper investigation is required.
- Help elevate AI fluency within the design organization. This includes demonstrating practical uses of AI tools in design workflows, articulating their strengths and limitations, and modeling thoughtful, responsible adoption.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Six (6) or more years of experience designing complex digital products or systems, including experience working in ambiguous or 0–1 environments where direction was not fully defined.
- Hands-on experience designing AI-assisted, data-informed, or algorithmically driven experiences, and a working understanding of generative AI capabilities and limitations.
- Ability to explain not only how AI works at a surface level, but how its constraints shape interaction design decisions.
- Comfort in using AI tools to augment your own design workflow and can articulate where those tools are helpful and where human judgment remains critical.
- Strong interaction design and product thinking skills, ideally with experience in map-based or spatially complex experiences.
- Ability to translate technically complex capabilities into clear, usable, and trustworthy interfaces.
- Comfort in making progress amid evolving constraints and imperfect information, with an ability to balance rapid experimentation with a thoughtful approach to long-term system design.
- Clear and pragmatic communication skills, with an ability to use storytelling and artifacts to align cross-functional partners.
- A willingness to share your thinking and help others develop stronger AI design literacy.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant work is required.

HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $139,000 to $174,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
