We’re looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our Data Office department and help us create clear, structured documentation for data, metrics, tools, and services. You’ll work on content such as data catalogs, metrics documentation, user guides, SDK documentation, and UI text – helping colleagues understand and take advantage of our data ecosystem.

This role goes beyond writing. You’ll take ownership of a specific area, improve processes, lead documentation projects, support contributors, mentor junior writers, and help raise the overall quality of documentation throughout the department.

We’d love for you to join our team if you have

• Extensive writing experience within software, IT, or data-related domains.
• Strong technical foundation and an understanding of software development concepts and workflows.
• Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, developer tools, data tools, datasets, metrics, data catalogs, or other complex systems.
• Experience with docs-as-code, Markdown or XML, and version control (specifically Git).
• Excellent English and writing skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and empathize with different highly technical audiences.
• A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize tasks, and move work forward.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including an inclination toward mentoring, knowledge sharing, and improving how the team works.

• Strong understanding of data analysis concepts and terminology.
• Experience leading or independently completing technical documentation projects.
• Experience improving documentation processes with templates, automation, scripts, or AI tools.

Responsibilities:

• Build things publicly with Kimchi - tutorials, demos, integrations - that show developers how to solve real problems. Think live build logs, OSS integrations, or benchmarks you'd want to read yourself.
• Be the voice of the the developer community: Discord, GitHub discussions, Reddit, HN - be present where developers are already talking about the problems we solve
• Be the structured feedback loop between dev community and product - synthesize what you're hearing into actionable signals for the product team. 
• Write technical content that ranks and spreads: setup guides, benchmark breakdowns, comparison posts, integration walkthroughs
• Speak at conferences, meetups and run workshops - representing Kimchi as a technical peer
• Identify where new users get stuck and advocate hard for fixes
• Help shape Kimchi's voice in the developer community - what we stand for, what we say when there is trending news in the market 

Requirements:

• You've built real software and can talk about it credibly - ideally you've used agentic coding tools and have opinions about them
• You're a strong technical writer - you can explain complex things clearly and make them resonate with the developer audience
• You're comfortable being the public face of a technical product: blog posts, talks, live demos, community threads
• Huge plus: You'd have tested and found problems Kimchi solves interesting -  before this job posting even existed
• Bonus: you've worked in or around Kubernetes, LLM inference, or developer tooling

About the Role

As a Technical Writer, you will create clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation for our software products. Working closely with developers, testers, and support engineers, you will turn complex technical knowledge into content that real users can act on — from step-by-step procedures and conceptual overviews to PowerShell and API reference docs. A key focus of this role is developing user guides and PowerShell reference documentation for Veeam Explorers, with an emphasis on database protection workflows. 

What You’ll Do

• Maintain documentation for currently supported versions and update documents based on feedback from the support team and customers
• Maintain and database lab environments to test and ensure the accuracy of created documentation
• Leverage AI tools to improve technical writing practices: content authoring, requirements and feedback processing, content quality assurance, etc.
• Prepare documentation for publication in supported formats (HTML, PDF) 

What You’ll Bring

• Excellent written and good spoken English
• Experience as a technical writer in a software/technology company
• Good grasp of IT terminology, a good understanding of basic IT technologies
• Experience documenting PowerShell, REST APIs, or databases (basic SQL/queries and common DB commands)
• Confident use of command-line tools 
• Ability to obtain information from various sources, structure information and explain complex concepts in an easy and comprehensible way
