Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior SQA and Test Infrastructure Development Engineer to help build the next generation of test, automation, and validation systems that power our in‑vehicle compute platforms, embedded controllers, and advanced driver‑assistance technologies. You will play a key role in ensuring that Lucid’s software and hardware meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance—supporting everything from firmware development to large‑scale automotive validation.

This role sits at the intersection of DevOps, embedded systems, and automotive test engineering, enabling fast, safe, and scalable development for the world’s most advanced electric vehicles.

What you’ll be doing

• Architect and maintain DevOps pipelines and test automation infrastructure optimized for automotive and embedded development workflows, including cross‑compilation, ECU flashing, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) validation
• Build internal tools and services that streamline embedded software testing, firmware deployment, and continuous integration for safety‑critical systems
• Collaborate with Embedded Software, Vehicle Integration, and Test Engineering teams to design scalable test environments for Lucid’s in‑vehicle compute modules and real‑time embedded platforms
• Implement containerized and cloud‑native systems using Docker and Kubernetes to orchestrate distributed test execution across lab and cloud resources
• Integrate automotive‑specific workflows into CI/CD systems, including static analysis, MISRA compliance, traceability, and automated regression testing
• Develop monitoring, logging, and diagnostic tools to ensure high availability and performance of embedded test infrastructure
• Support and extend test frameworks used for ECU validation, vehicle‑level testing, and manufacturing test

What we need to see

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, embedded test infrastructure, or automation tooling
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as Flask or Django
• Experience with embedded Linux, cross‑compilation, and deploying applications to embedded targets
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN bus, or Automotive Ethernet
• Experience with HIL/SIL systems, embedded test benches, or automotive validation environments such as vector Tools
• Proficiency with version control systems such as GIT or GitLab
• Strong Linux knowledge—deployment, debugging, system monitoring, and automation

Job Description

The Director, Site Reliability Engineering plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of SmartRent services at the property level. This role drives system reliability, oversees property health, and partners closely with Engineering and Support teams to develop scalable processes and observability tools that sustain operational performance and deliver consistent client value.

Responsibilities

• Own property-level system reliability outcomes, including oversight of device-only networks and overall property health performance. 
• Drive adoption and effective utilization of SmartRent tools and services across properties through monitoring, insights, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Establish proactive detection and response frameworks to identify localized system issues and lead coordinated cross-functional resolution efforts. 
• Provide leadership oversight of property transfers and escalated issues, ensuring consistent resolution standards and service continuity. 
• Partner with Engineering leadership to design and implement observability tools and processes that enable scalable monitoring of system health and events.
• Define, document, and enforce standardized operational processes to ensure consistency, accountability, and cross-functional alignment. 
• Collaborate with Support leadership to develop dashboards and reporting capabilities that deliver actionable insights into property engagement, activity, and performance trends. 
• Lead the strategic oversight of IoT support operations, including installation support workflows and escalation management frameworks. 
• Oversee validation and controlled deployment of IoT firmware updates across hubs and connected devices to ensure reliability and minimize operational risk.
• Establish and maintain data integrity standards at the property level while contributing domain expertise to enterprise knowledge resources and training materials.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in network operations, including both wired and wireless environments. 
• Experience utilizing observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Observe, or similar platforms). 
• Strong troubleshooting expertise, including developing and maintaining runbooks and technical documentation. 
• Foundational programming, scripting, and automation skills; ability to leverage automation to improve operational efficiency is required. 
• Working knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS or comparable platforms. 
• Significant operational experience with a proven ability to design, implement, and sustain clear, scalable processes that teams consistently follow.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working across internal teams to resolve complex operational issues and achieve shared goals.

About the Role:

Under the general direction of the Professional Services Operations Lead, the Engineer will provide clients with remote and on-site support services across North America (and international locations, as applicable) in a wide range of client environments.  Physical Infrastructure design/Installation, wireless design, and hardware configuration are standard tasks the Engineer will perform.  Environments can include, but are not limited to, traditional data center facilities, warehouses, office buildings, MDF/IDF closets, headends, and remote outdoor facilities.

• A valid driver's license is required. 
• Prior MSP experience desired.
• Thorough understanding of Ekahau Pro Suite and Sidekick functionality.
• CompTIA A+ certification preferred.

Job Description

The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining firmware for SmartRent devices, including Z-Wave controllers (hubs) and access control systems. This role supports the integration of hardware devices with SmartRent platform services, enabling reliable communication between field devices and cloud-based systems.

This role contributes to firmware development using the Nerves framework and Elixir-based systems and collaborates with hardware, platform, and application teams to implement new functionality, support device reliability, and maintain existing device software.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium- to large-scale development efforts across the embedded stack, from firmware through device interfaces, operating with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for SmartRent IoT devices using Elixir and the Nerves framework.
• Lead the bring-up of new hardware platforms, including driver development, peripheral integration, and system validation.
• Develop and maintain device-local user interfaces running on embedded hardware using technologies such as Phoenix, Flutter, and gRPC.
• Integrate third-party systems, including HVAC, access control, and Z-Wave platforms, by interpreting vendor documentation and supporting required communication protocols.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and supporting documentation to ensure system reliability and prevent regressions across deployed devices.
• Develop project timelines, manage deliverables against defined milestones, and communicate risks, dependencies, and requirement changes proactively.
• Support team development through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship of less experienced engineers.
• Contribute to internal tooling, shared engineering resources, and open-source initiatives aligned with SmartRent’s technical ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Proficiency in Elixir or Erlang/OTP, with working knowledge of the BEAM runtime, or demonstrated ability to learn and apply functional programming concepts.
• Experience with, or demonstrated interest in, embedded Linux systems development.
• Working knowledge of Linux internals, including device trees, kernel configuration, system boot processes, and shell tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects from design through deployment with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new tools, languages, and technologies as required.
