How it works:

• We have several open projects where we are looking for talented writers to help train generative artificial intelligence models to become better writers.
• You can work on all of our projects remotely. Hours are flexible, so you can work whenever is best for you.
• Your earnings from ongoing projects are sent out weekly.

You Will: 

• Work on various writing in Igbo projects to train generative AI models.
• Some examples of projects you might work on: 
• Rank a series of responses that were produced by an AI model.
• Based on a given topic, write a short story about that topic.
• Assess whether a piece of text produced by an AI model is factually accurate or not.

Preferred Qualifications: 

These are not must-have qualifications! You should apply if you meet any of these (or anything similar you think makes you a good fit).

• Professional Translator
• Enrollment or completion of an undergraduate program in a humanities field or field related to writing
• Enrollment or completion in a graduate program related to creative writing
• Experience writing professionally (copywriter, journalist, technical writer, editor, etc.)

Earnings & Duration:

• Base Pay Rate: up to $17 per hour
• Location: Remote (Globally) - please note that hourly rates vary by country

• Duration: Variable depending on project length, flexible hours

What is this opportunity?
60 Decibels works with skilled Translators to assist with the translation of various documents including survey tools, datasets, etc. from English into specific local languages. This is a remote, flexible, project-based role suited to translators who are detail-oriented, reliable, and motivated by social impact. Once vetted, Translators will be engaged on short-term contracts aligned with our project pipeline.

We are currently seeking translators with written proficiency in Hausa, Yoruba & Igbo. Please indicate your country of residence and language(s) when applying.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Translate survey tools and other documents from English into designated local languages
2. Ensure translations are accurate, clear, and culturally appropriate while preserving the original meaning and intent
3. Maintain source formatting as required
4. Communicate proactively with the 60 Decibels team to clarify questions or resolve issues
5. Deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines

Who is the ideal Translator?
This role is ideal for experienced translators who are independent, organized, and strong communicators. Successful candidates will have:

• High proficiency in English and at least one local language: Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo
• Demonstrated experience translating professional or research-related materials
• Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
• The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• An interest in contributing to social impact work in their country or region

What is the time commitment and is this a full-time job?
This is not a full-time role. Translators are engaged on short-term, project-based contracts depending on demand. Compensation is paid hourly and calculated based on an expected translation speed of approximately 400 words per hour, alongside a language-specific per-word rate.

This opportunity is well-suited to experienced freelance translators looking for flexible, project-based engagements.

Job Purpose

The Tax Officer is a key guardian of Moniepoint’s financial integrity. Your mission is to ensure that as we scale and innovate, our tax obligations are met with absolute precision and transparency.

In this role, you aren't just filing returns; you are helping build the stable foundation that allows our products to provide financial happiness to millions. You bridge the gap between complex tax legislation and our day-to-day operations, ensuring we remain a reliable and compliant partner in every market we operate.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Remittance

• Precise Computations: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual computations for VAT, WHT, CIT, and other statutory levies with a "right-first-time" mindset.
• Timely Execution: Own the end-to-end filing and remittance process for all federal and state tax obligations, ensuring we never miss a deadline.
• Ledger Integrity: Conduct regular reconciliations of tax ledgers and maintain meticulous documentation that serves as our "source of truth."

Audit Support & Regulatory Liaison

• Always Audit-Ready: Support tax audits and investigations by preparing clear evidence and walkthroughs for tax authorities.
• Relationship Management: Assist in managing correspondence with regulatory bodies, representing Moniepoint’s commitment to transparency and mastery.
• Proactive Monitoring: Stay ahead of the curve by tracking changes in tax laws and assessing how they impact our business model.

Internal Advisory & Process Improvement

• Stakeholder Partnership: Provide clear, jargon-free tax support to teams across Finance, Legal, HR, and Operations.
• Strategic Growth: Support the Head of Tax in providing tax-efficient guidance for new business transactions, M&A activities, and expansion plans.
• Building Better Systems: Help implement and automate tax controls and dashboards to reduce manual effort and human error.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in tax compliance or advisory (Fintech or Banking experience is a plus).
• Deep understanding of Nigerian tax laws and the practicalities of filing across multiple states.
• Proficiency in data analysis using Excel or Google Sheets—you should be comfortable turning raw data into clear tax schedules.
• Professional qualification (ICAN/ACCA) completed or in the final stages.
