Role Overview

The Product Auditor provides independent assurance over the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of product controls across payment, wallet, settlement, switches and other related products across the organisation

The role ensures that new and existing products are deployed with adequate financial, operational, security, and regulatory controls, safeguarding the organization against revenue leakage, settlement failures, regulatory breaches, and technology-driven risks.

The Product Auditor will independently evaluate product risk exposure and control maturity prior to scale.

Key Responsibilities 

Audit Universe & Risk-Based Planning

• Maintain a living Product Audit Universe covering all payment products, features, and integrations ranked by risk. 
• Own the annual Product Audit Plan, ensuring coverage is allocated dynamically based on risk ratings, product complexity, regulatory sensitivity, and change velocity.

Product Design & Control Assurance

• Review PRDs, business rules, and transaction workflows to identify logic gaps, unmitigated risk paths, and missing exception-handling routines before products reach production/go-live. 
• Analyse product path scenarios, verify Maker-Checker enforcement, and provide formal control design sign-off before any material release goes live.

Live Product Assessment ( Continuous Audit Review)

• Periodically assess live payment products to confirm they continue to operate within approved design parameters. 
• Detect configuration drift, identify silent divergence from original PRDs, and analyse live transaction data for emerging risk patterns.

Go-Live Readiness & Control Gate

• Execute mandatory pre-production Product Audit reviews as an independent control gate for all material releases. 
• Confirm reconciliation logic, exception queues, and fallback controls are tested and functional. 
• Escalate critical deficiencies with risk ratings and hold recommendations where a product is not safe to release.

Transaction Logic & Mathematical Integrity

• Interrogate the Fee Engine using SQL to mathematically prove that commissions, VAT, discounts, and splits are posted with complete precision. 
• Validate duplicate prevention mechanisms and ensure transaction integrity within complex, multi-step payment sequences, and test reversal, refund, and chargeback logic to confirm financial symmetry is maintained in every scenario.

Settlement & Ledger Integrity

• Trace fund flows, confirming continuous synchronisation between wallet sub-ledgers and the General Ledger. 
• Assess reconciliation logic for breaks and evaluate the authorisation, documentation, and reversibility of manual settlement overrides.

Product Change & Configuration Integrity

• Confirm that all product modifications: fee tables, routing rules, limit parameters passed through an approved change management cycle. 
• Identify silent changes made outside formal release processes and audit the integrity of product master data to ensure it is access-controlled, version-tracked, and consistent with approved product terms.

Vendor & Third-Party Product Risk

• Assess controls over vendor-managed product components, evaluate SLA performance against contractual commitments, and identify single-vendor dependency risks within critical payment flows. 
• Evaluate the organisation's ability to detect unilateral changes in third-party API behaviour, fee logic, or settlement processes.

Control Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage product and engineering teams early in the design cycle to provide informal control advisory, reducing findings at the formal review stage without compromising independence. 
• Participate in design reviews and architecture discussions, and build a control-by-design culture across product teams. 

Incident Review, RCA & Regulatory Alignment

• Lead post-incident reviews for product failures,producing structured RCA reports that identify underlying logic failures, not just surface symptoms. 
• Assess corrective actions for adequacy and track findings to verify closure. 
• Ensure product logic complies with CBN guidelines, PCI DSS, and consumer protection obligations at the design level, and evaluate the regulatory impact of new features before release.

Reporting & Governance

• Prepare risk-rated audit reports for Executive Management and the Audit Committee, leading with findings, financial impact, and required action. 
• Maintain a Product Risk Register, deliver quarterly control maturity updates, and ensure governance bodies are never surprised by a product failure that was visible at the design or portfolio review stage.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5+ years in Product Audit, Systems Audit, Financial Data Analytics, or Payment Operations within a fintech or financial services environment
• Certifications: CISA, CIA, or CFE preferred. ACA / ACCA is acceptable when combined with strong technical product experience and data analytics.
• Sector Knowledge: Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with payment product architecture, wallet systems, and regulated payment flows in a Nigerian or comparable market context.

About the Role

We have reached an inflection point where we need to take our data game to the next level. Instead of just providing data to our various departments, we need to start bringing to bear more sophisticated techniques to unlock the potential of our significant data sets. While we collect hundreds of thousands of data points every day from each of our programmes – from the time each teacher spends on each page of every lesson to every pupil’s answer to every question of every assessment – we are yet to fully realise the potential energy of these data sets. 

On a technical level, this shift means moving beyond traditional approaches to data engineering, replacing ETL batch processing and data warehousing with event-driven real-time data pipelines and a distributed data mesh; on an organisational level, it means reimagining business intelligence as a skill set embedded in our cross-functional delivery teams, not as a separate team with separate priorities and timelines. And it also means transforming the ways that we expose the data to our users, providing richer, more actionable interfaces.

The Senior Engineer will help to lead the charge on this transformation, bringing experience to bear, both on the systems themselves, as well as mentoring and developing other team members.

This role reports to the Business Intelligence Lead, but will routinely be embedded in cross-functional delivery teams, working collaboratively to deliver our next generation data products.

What You Will Do 

• Build next generation event-driven data processing pipelines that cleanse, enrich, and aggregate a range of different data sets as part of a globally distributed and cross-functional software development organisation
• Deploy these data pipelines in line with continuous delivery practices and principles
• Improve the scalability, stability, accuracy, and efficiency of our existing data platform - it’s not all just green field!
• Develop and mentor other members of the business intelligence department
• Monitor our data platforms in order to identify and resolve issues and ensure high-availability of data insights
• Communicate with stakeholders to develop requirements, implement solutions, and collaborate on rollouts

What You Should Have

• 5+ years of enterprise work experience in business intelligence, data engineering, and advanced analytics
• 2+ years of commercial, enterprise experience building data pipelines using Apache Spark and Python (future platform). Familiarity using these tools to consume data from RabbitMQ or Kafka is a plus.
• Experience with one or more types of NoSQL databases and data lakes
• Comfort with version control and continuous delivery
• Familiarity with relational databases, ETL, and reporting tools. Preference for Microsoft technologies (we currently use Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019, SSIS, and SSRS)
• Fluency with warehouse design and dimension modelling (star schemas, snowflakes, etc)
• Experience or interest in results-driven, lean/agile environments
• Basic DBA skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment

About the role

Sand is scaling rapidly across Africa, partnering with Ministries of Health to deploy the Health Operating System (HOS) — a decision-support and execution platform that transforms how health systems sense, analyze, and act on data. The HOS is already operational across multiple countries, with plans to expand to 15 countries by end of 2026, supported by 80+ Forward Deployed Engineers.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you are the technical spearhead of our client engagement in Nigeria. Unlike our roaming FDE roles, this is a permanently embedded position. You will be based full-time within the Ministry of Health in Nigeria, becoming a long-term extension of the client's operational team. Your mandate is to build deep institutional relationships, develop comprehensive understanding of the national health system, and deliver sustained value over an extended engagement — not just rapid sprints, but lasting transformation.

This is not staff augmentation. You are an amalgamation of three roles:

1. The Software Engineer — Deep technical acumen to build and deploy production-grade solutions using Sand's product suite
2. The Product Manager — Strategic foresight to understand client problems, influence business objectives, and identify expansion opportunities
3. The Consultant — Client-facing finesse to navigate complex stakeholder relationships, manage scope, and transfer knowledge

Your primary mission is to prove our value fast, delivering functional solutions rapidly using Sand's products, playbooks, and tools, and then maturing those solutions into mission-critical infrastructure that the Ministry depends on daily. Over time, you become the institutional memory of the deployment — the person who understands the data landscape, the stakeholder dynamics, and the operational realities better than anyone.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as Sand's Permanent Technical Presence in Nigeria

• Embed full-time within the Ministry of Health, becoming a trusted member of the client's extended team
• Develop deep, longitudinal understanding of the national health data landscape, institutional dynamics, and operational priorities
• Build and maintain relationships across all levels of the Ministry — from frontline data officers to senior leadership
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for all Sand activities in-country, coordinating with launchers, country directors, and visiting FDE teams

Drive On-Site Value Delivery

• Rapidly unlock, explore, and integrate client data sources (e.g., DHIS2, SCADA systems, network management platforms, operational databases)
• Understand client problems through prototyping and rapid value delivery — deploying POCs and MVPs using Sand's product components and playbooks
• Transition initial solutions into hardened, production-grade systems that the Ministry relies on daily
• Own the long-term health of deployed solutions — monitoring adoption, troubleshooting issues, and iterating based on user feedback
• Deliver and track value generated through deployment of Sand products

Enable Product-Led Growth

• Lead with Sand's existing product suite — know the products by heart and where each solution is most effective for the domain you're deployed in
• Document learnings, client challenges, and successful solutions as reusable patterns for the broader FDE community
• Drive discovery and expansion by uncovering new opportunities on the ground

Build Local Capacity and Sustainability

• Work alongside Ministry teams to co-create solutions and progressively transfer knowledge, ensuring they can operate and maintain systems independently
• Identify, recruit, and mentor local data engineers, scientists, and analysts to build sustainable in-country capacity
• Develop training materials and documentation tailored to the local context, language, and skill level
• Be the continuity that ensures handover isn't a cliff — you bridge the gap between Sand's deployment and the Ministry's long-term ownership

Feed the Platform Feedback Loop

• Channel field learnings back to improve the core product through structured mechanisms (Technical Deep Dives, Solution Swarms, pattern documentation)
• Turn "gravel roads" into "paved superhighways" — document solution patterns so the next FDE can move faster
• Contribute field feedback that influences 30% of the product roadmap

Requirements — Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, data science, system deployment, or technical leadership
• Proficiency in at least one of: Python, SQL/PostgreSQL, JavaScript — with ability to write production-grade code
• Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward action and rapid prototyping
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable presenting to senior government or corporate stakeholders and translating between technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience working with or deploying to government, public sector, or large institutional clients
• Proven ability to lead local technical teams and build capacity
• Willingness to relocate and be permanently based in Nigeria for the duration of the engagement (12-24+ months)
• Language: Local language proficiency is a significant advantage

Requirements — Preferred

• Experience with data integration, ETL pipelines, and working with diverse data sources
• Experience in one or more of Sand's focus domains: health informatics/digital health, water utility operations, telecommunications network operations, or energy systems

Work Environment

This is a permanently embedded role. You will work on-site at the Ministry of Health in Nigeria 4 days per week, with 1 day for focused remote work, internal collaboration, and knowledge sharing with the broader FDE community. You should expect to be based in Nigeria for a minimum of 12-24 months.

You must be self-driven, comfortable operating as Sand's primary technical representative in-country, and disciplined with online collaboration tools to stay connected with the broader Sand team across geographies. As we enter a phase of accelerated growth, we are seeking a Technical Financial Crime Manager to own, design, and scale our fraud and AML detection capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of data, engineering, and financial crime operations, with end-to-end accountability for ensuring our monitoring systems are technically robust, domain-accurate, and scalable across multiple markets.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will define detection logic, guide system design, and directly influence how financial crime risk is identified and managed at Paystack, while also leading and developing high-performing fraud and AML teams.

• Manage the Fraud and AML operational teams (specialists and first-line managers) to ensure adequate coverage, capability and day-to-day execution. 
• Translate regulatory, partner, and audit requirements into scalable technical and operational controls.
• Stay ahead of evolving financial crime patterns, market-specific risks, and regulatory developments across Paystack’s footprint.

Tooling, Automation & Scale

• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed detection logic into core systems and improve monitoring, alerting, and case management tooling.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and enable scale without compromising control quality.
• Identify and prioritise enhancements to monitoring platforms, workflows, and data pipelines.
• Ensure fraud and AML tooling evolves in line with transaction growth, new products, and new markets.

Operational Excellence

• Build and continuously improve operational processes, SLAs, KPIs, and quality frameworks across Fraud and AML teams.

• Proven experience designing, building, and tuning risk detection systems (fraud, AML, or similar).

Job Summary

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) responsible for ensuring our systems run smoothly and efficiently while engineering solutions to improve visibility, eliminate repetitive tasks, and increase system resilience. The ideal candidate will balance real-time on-call responsibilities with strategic engineering work to achieve sustainable and scalable service reliability.

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-call rotations to detect and triage service and reliability issues across all environments. Act as the Incident Commander during major incidents: initiating war room or bridge calls, coordinating cross-functional teams, providing timely and clear status updates to all stakeholders.
• Create and maintain meaningful dashboards and alerts. Work with development teams to instrument their code to ensure visibility.
• Develop automation to eliminate manual and repetitive operational tasks (toil) related to reliability across both applications and infrastructure.
• Implement and track Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) defined by the engineering leadership.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage our multi-cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud platforms, container orchestration, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability solutions, ensuring scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud operations across multiple cloud providers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Design, deploy, and manage multi-cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Architect and implement highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud solutions
• Manage cloud resources including compute instances and networking components
• Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud workloads
• Migrate on-premises applications and services to cloud environments with minimal disruption
• Optimize cloud resource utilization and implement auto-scaling policies
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architectures, configurations, and runbooks

Kubernetes & Container Orchestration

• Design, deploy, and manage production-grade Kubernetes clusters across multiple cloud providers
• Implement and maintain container orchestration strategies for microservices architectures
• Configure and manage Kubernetes resource objects
• Manage Kubernetes cluster upgrades, scaling, and performance optimization
• Troubleshoot complex container and orchestration issues in production environments
• Implement multi-cluster and multi-region Kubernetes deployments for high availability

Service Mesh & Advanced Networking

• Design, deploy, and manage Istio service mesh for microservices communication and observability
• Configure Istio traffic management, including virtual services, destination rules, and gateways
• Implement advanced traffic routing (canary deployments, A/B testing, traffic splitting) using Istio
• Deploy and manage Istio observability components (telemetry, distributed tracing, service graphs)
• Implement circuit breaking, retries, timeouts, and fault injection for resilience testing
• Configure Istio ingress and egress gateways for external traffic management
• Monitor and optimize service mesh performance and resource utilization
• Implement multi-cluster service mesh architectures across different cloud providers

Reverse Proxy & Load Balancing

• Deploy, configure, and manage HAProxy for high-performance load balancing and reverse proxy
• Implement HAProxy ACLs, backend routing, health checks, and session persistence
• Design and implement Nginx as reverse proxy for web applications and API gateways
• Configure Nginx for rate limiting and request filtering
• Implement Nginx load balancing algorithms and upstream health monitoring
• Manage Nginx Plus features for advanced traffic management and monitoring
• Optimize HAProxy and Nginx performance for high-throughput environments

Infrastructure as Code & Configuration Management

• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform
• Create reusable, modular Terraform configurations for various cloud resources and Implement Terraform state management and remote backends
• Design and implement configuration management solutions using Ansible
• Develop Ansible playbooks and roles for automated server provisioning and configuration
• Integrate Terraform and Ansible workflows for end-to-end infrastructure automation
• Implement infrastructure version control, code review processes, and GitOps practices
• Manage infrastructure drift detection and remediation
• Create and maintain infrastructure documentation and architecture diagrams
• Implement policy-as-code using tools like OPA (Open Policy Agent) or Sentinel

CI/CD Pipeline Management

• Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration pipelines using Jenkins and Harness
• Optimize build times and pipeline efficiency
• Integrate security scanning (SAST, DAST, container scanning) into CI/CD pipelines
• Configure Jenkins jobs, pipelines, and shared libraries for automated build, configure build agents, runners, and execution environments
• Implement Harness deployment pipelines for cloud-native applications
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines with version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab)
• Implement continuous deployment workflows using ArgoCD for Kubernetes-based applications
• Design and implement GitOps workflows with ArgoCD for declarative application delivery
• Manage ArgoCD application definitions, sync policies and multi-cluster deployments
• Implement progressive delivery strategies (blue-green deployments, canary releases) using ArgoCD

Message Streaming & Event-Driven Architecture

• Deploy and manage Apache Kafka clusters for real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures
• Configure Kafka topics, partitions, replication factors, and retention policies
• Implement Kafka Connect for data integration with various sources and sinks
• Monitor Kafka cluster health, performance metrics, and consumer lag
• Optimize Kafka performance for high-throughput and low-latency use cases
• Troubleshoot Kafka producer and consumer issues

Database & Proxy Management

• Deploy, configure, and manage ProxySQL for MySQL load balancing and high availability
• Implement query routing, caching, and connection pooling strategies using ProxySQL
• Optimize database performance through ProxySQL query analysis and optimization
• Implement database failover and disaster recovery using ProxySQL
• Monitor ProxySQL metrics and troubleshoot connection and performance issues
• Integrate ProxySQL with database clusters and replication topologies
• Implement database access security and audit logging through ProxySQL

Cloud Networking

• Design and implement cloud networking architectures, including VPCs, subnets, and network segmentation
• Configure and manage cloud load balancers (Application Load Balancers, Network Load Balancers, Cloud Load Balancing)
• Implement VPN connections, Direct Connect/Interconnect, and hybrid cloud networking solutions
• Implement network security controls, including security groups, network ACLs, and firewall rules
• Implement network monitoring and traffic analysis
• Troubleshoot complex networking issues across multi-cloud environments
• Design and implement private connectivity between cloud providers

Secrets Management & Security

• Configure and manage HashiCorp Vault for centralized secrets management across multi-cloud environments
• Configure Vault secret engines (KV, database, PKI, AWS, GCP, Azure dynamic secrets)
• Manage Vault high availability clusters and disaster recovery procedures
• Implement dynamic database credentials and secret rotation strategies
• Manage Vault encryption as a service for application-level encryption
• Implement Vault agent and sidecar injectors for Kubernetes workloads
• Migrate secrets from legacy systems to Vault

Qualifications, Competency & Skills Required

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
• Hands-on experience managing production workloads across multiple cloud platforms
• Relevant cloud and technology certifications are highly desirable

Cloud Platforms (Required)

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Deep expertise in Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, VPC, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, IAM
• Amazon Web Services (AWS): Proficiency in EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, ECS, CloudFormation, IAM

What you’ll do

• Own and drive outcomes anchored in metrics and aligned with company OKRs.
• Know your domain in depth: business, product, operations, customers, market, competitors, and risk/regulation.

• 8+ years of relevant experience in technology companies, including 5+ years owning and driving products end-to-end as a Product Manager.
• Track record of driving measurable outcomes tied to OKRs, shaping product direction, and converting complexity and ambiguity into high-value opportunities.
• Deep customer empathy and the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights to build products that truly delight users.
• Known for driving product velocity while upholding high standards of execution excellence, product quality, and risk mitigation.
• Strong analytical skills across metric design and monitoring, funnel analysis, and evidence-based prioritization. Hands-on SQL experience is highly desirable.
• Technical fluency to dive deep into system architecture, APIs, data flows, and tradeoff discussions with engineers.
