As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing robust, scalable applications that power one of the largest automotive leasing marketplaces in Europe. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to build and evolve solutions that are architecturally sound, easy to maintain, and built for long-term impact. You’ll help shape technical direction while raising the bar for software quality and stability across the platform. 

What you’ll do:

• Join one of our builders’ teams to build great products loved by our customers. 
• Apply an AI-first mindset to every phase of you-build-it-you-run-it: from design and coding to testing, deployment and operations.
• Work hands-on in real product codebases (for example TypeScript/Node/Next.js or Java/Spring), using GenAI tools to accelerate development, improve quality and simplify existing systems.
• Build and evolve AI-powered internal tools and workflows (assistants for coding, reviews, documentation, testing) that engineers across AutoScout24 can rely on every day.
• Act as a multiplier and culture driver: coach teams on effective GenAI usage, share patterns and anti-patterns, and help establish AI-first ways of working across our engineering organization.
• Experiment, measure and improve: run small, data-informed experiments with teams, learn what works in our context, and turn successful approaches into repeatable standards and playbooks. 

What you’ll bring: 

• Experience leveraging AI and Generative AI (GenAI) to enhance engineering productivity — including code generation, debugging, reviews, documentation, and decision support — with a proactive mindset toward adopting tools that streamline development and drive innovation. 
• Deep, hands-on experience building production systems (we expect you’ve spent at least 5 years doing this, possibly much more), ideally with PHP and Laravel as well as TypeScript/Node.js/Next.js on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Demonstrated personal excellence in using GenAI coding tools (for example GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex) to significantly improve your own development speed and quality: code generation, refactoring, debugging, tests and documentation. 
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI or similar) into applications or internal tools.
• Strong communication and influencing skills: you can introduce new tools and practices, align stakeholders, handle skepticism and iterate based on feedback.
• A curious, growth-oriented mindset: you actively seek out new practices and tools, you are comfortable learning in public, and you help others do the same.
• A pragmatic view of GenAI: you understand its limitations and risks and know how to put guardrails in place (reviews, tests, policies) to keep usage safe, compliant and sustainable at scale.
• Experience with performance optimization, caching strategies, and system observability is a plus.

Summary

We are hiring a Staff Solutions Architect (Remote, based in Germany) to own and grow the DACH territory (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). This role partners closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to help prospective and existing customers design, validate, and scale mission-critical systems on Temporal. You will work directly with engineering leaders and senior developers at high-growth and enterprise customers across DACH, helping them understand when and how to use Temporal, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring successful adoption across their organizations.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a strategic technical advisor to Sales Account Executives, assisting with scoping and sizing opportunities and offering guidance on technical fit and challenges across the DACH region

• Lead customer discovery to understand architecture, constraints, and success criteria, and map those to Temporal-based solutions

• Design end-to-end reference architectures that demonstrate how Temporal fits into existing services, data stores, and infrastructure

• Build and deliver high-impact demos and technical narratives that clearly show how Temporal solves real customer pain

• Run deep technical workshops, whiteboard sessions, and proof-of-concept engagements with engineering and architecture teams

• Provide hands-on guidance on best practices for workflow and activity design, testing strategies, and operationalization of Temporal in production

• Identify and mitigate technical risks in customer projects, escalating and collaborating with Product and Engineering as needed

• Capture and communicate customer feedback and feature requests into Product, influencing roadmap and prioritization

• Contribute to reusable assets for the field, including reference architectures, example workflows, solution playbooks, and enablement content

• Represent Temporal in customer meetings, executive briefings, and at community events or conferences across the DACH market

What You’ll Bring

• Significant experience (typically several years) in customer-facing, technical pre-sales or post-sales roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Field Engineer, or equivalent

• Strong background in designing and operating distributed systems or cloud-native applications, with a deep understanding of reliability, scalability, and failure modes

• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, outcome-focused narratives for both technical and business audiences

• Proficiency in building application prototypes and providing design, development, build, and deployment guidance using one or more of Temporal’s supported languages: Java, Golang, TypeScript, Python, C#, Ruby, or PHP

• Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and common infrastructure components including networking, messaging, observability, and CI/CD

• Proven track record partnering with sales teams on strategic accounts, including working through technical evaluations, proof-of-concept stages, and production rollouts

• Experience working with or advising large customers in DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), with comfort navigating complex stakeholder environments

• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust with senior engineers and technical leaders

• Prior experience working with Temporal or similar workflow/orchestration, event-driven, or durable execution systems

• Experience in a high-growth, developer-focused infrastructure or platform company

• German language skills are highly preferred, along with strong English communication in both written and spoken form

• Familiarity with common patterns such as event sourcing, CQRS, microservices, and data-intensive or low-latency systems

Compensation

The estimated pay range for this role is €165,000 – €185,000 OTE (on-target earnings), depending on experience and location within Germany.

• This is a base salary and variable role with a 70/30 split
