About the role
We are looking for a mid–senior Deployment Engineer to take robotic systems from development to production and keep them running reliably in the real world. 

This role sits at the intersection of: 

• robotics systems (ROS-based)  

• software delivery (CI/CD, containers, releases)  

• real-world deployment constraints (networks, hardware, field debugging)  

You will own how software moves from code → robot → fleet, and how issues are detected, diagnosed, and resolved. 

This is not a traditional DevOps or field role. 
We are looking for someone who can build systems, not just operate them, and who can quickly create MVPs to validate ideas.

• Contribute to the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle, from concept and architecture design through to final system deployment.

We develop Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environments that allow engineers to integrate, test, and assure AI-driven capabilities against virtualised and representative hardware.

We build software that is subject to significant and unorthodox technical constraints, must operate in a wide variety of constantly-changing environments, and has to support an ever-growing list of challenging use-cases. What we build ultimately ends up in the hands of real people in high-risk, high-stress situations – from mission planning to command and control (C2) and mission debrief – so must be both reliable and frictionless.

The day-to-day

• Review code contributions, proposals, and RFCs from colleagues. At Helsing we strongly believe that unblocking others takes precedence over spending more time on your own work.

• Own the user interface end-to-end, from early wireframes and prototypes through to production-ready code. You'll work closely with product and UX colleagues to shape how engineers interact with our tools.

• Propose and implement new features, capabilities, visualizations, or even full products across our stack. We encourage our engineers to look beyond their immediate team for missed opportunities, and to speak up when they identify one.

• Translate complex technical data into usable, intuitive interfaces. You'll turn raw simulation outputs, test results, and AI behavior data into visualizations that engineers can actually understand and act on.

• Establish and evolve our component library, ensuring consistency, reusability, and alignment with our visual design standards across multiple front-ends.

• Become a mentor, find a mentee, and help support and develop our interviewing pipeline. The people make or break the company, and we want as many engineers as possible to be part of fostering and growing the organisation.

• Share your experience and technical know-how with other Helsingers. We host tech talks, get together for smaller "let's learn together" groups, run topical office hours (e.g., on React, TypeScript), etc. to help each other get better with time.

• Connect with, understand, and make changes to backend systems as needed. Our backends are primarily written in Rust, and you'll need to be comfortable navigating unfamiliar codebases to unblock yourself and improve integrations.

• Further develop our tests and benchmarks, both at the micro and macro level. We operate in a domain where robustness is of the utmost importance, and an extensive and ever-improving test suite is key to achieving that.

• Present your work at our weekly demo sessions. We want engineers to come together around what they are working on and to feel like they are not endlessly squirrelling away at something that doesn't matter. Our Autonomous Air System V&V team builds the simulation and validation environments that enable rigorous testing of autonomous air systems before they ever leave the ground. As part of Tenstorrent’s Automotive Robotics team, you will help design and deliver the core hardware modules inside our next generation chiplet based SoCs for automotive products. You will be the bridge between silicon design, DFT, OSAT partners, and customers to ensure our multi die SiP platforms meet aggressive performance, quality, and safety targets.

This role is remote, based in Munich, Germany.

Who You Are

• Experienced with industry standard ATPG and DFx insertion CAD tools.
• Fluent in RTL coding for DFx logic including lock-up latches, clock gates, and scan anchors.
• Able to translate system and safety requirements into concrete constraints on package architecture, DFT insertion, and support test engineering with planning, patterns, and debug.
• Comfortable working in a cross functional role that extends beyond DFT, including low power designs with multiple clock domains.
• Knowledge of fault models including Stuck-at, Transition, Gate-Exhaustive, Path Delay, IDDQ, and Cell Aware.
• Exposure to post-silicon testing and tester pattern debug are major assets.
• Experience with Fault Campaigns a plus.

As an Flight Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of a fly-by-wire flight control system working closely with industry partners.  You will be responsible not only for defining the system, but also driving it through all development stages and ultimately onto the flying platform. • Define the imaging architecture: You will select the optimal combination of lenses and sensors aligning requirements with our AI team to optimize algorithm performance, balancing technical trade-offs.

Teleoperation/Connectivity Software Engineer 

What you will work on

You will work on Fernride’s teleoperation software stack, building the systems that allow human operators to safely, intuitively, and reliably control vehicles remotely. This includes high-performance HMIs, low-latency video pipelines, and robust connectivity between teleoperation stations and vehicles.

The impact you will make

As a Scientific Electronics Engineer, you will play a key role in bridging hardware and software for experimental setups. You will design, develop and integrate low-voltage electronics, microcontrollers and FPGA systems into complex experiments, while creating GUIs and software tools to control and monitor them. Working with Tango Controls, Taranta or similar frameworks, you will ensure seamless communication between devices and software.

Your responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Scientists and Engineers to design, develop and implement experimental equipment and setups
• Program and develop user interfaces (GUIs) using PyQt or similar frameworks to control experimental devices and systems
• Integrate microcontrollers, FPGA boards and low-voltage electronics into software systems for experimental setups
• Work with Tango Controls, Taranta or similar control frameworks to interface hardware with software
• Monitor, analyze and process TTL signals for triggering cameras and other devices, including noise reduction and signal integrity verification
• Work with sensors, instrumentation and data acquisition systems to ensure reliable and accurate signal transmission and timing
• Assemble, install and commission electronics and software systems for data acquisition and control onsite
• Write clear and detailed documentation including software specifications, deployment instructions, troubleshooting guides and signal processing reports
• Contribute to the Engineering Quality Management System by creating procedural documentation and establishing engineering best practices
• Provide hands-on support to the science team during setup phases and experimental campaigns

What you bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field (e.g., Electronics, Mechatronics, Control Systems)
• Practical experience with low-voltage electronics, microcontrollers, FPGA and embedded systems.
• Knowledge of PCB design tools such as KiCad, Eagle or Altium Designer, including schematic capture, PCB layout and design for manufacturing considerations
• Strong software skills in Python (including OOP) and experience developing GUIs with PyQt or similar tools
• Experience with Tango Controls, Taranta or similar scientific control frameworks
• Familiarity with electrical documentation tools such as EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical or similar
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and harness drawings
• Knowledge and practical application of IEC standards commonly used in Germany for low-voltage systems, including: IEC 61131, IEC 61010, IEC 61508 / 61511
• Experience with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps, etc.) and collaborative software development

The impact you will make

Your responsibilities

• Design and development of mechanical systems for ion, electron, neutron, and X/gamma-ray diagnostics used in ultrafast laser experiments together with scientists.
• Design in-vacuum electronics cooling systems
• Experience with vacuum-compatible assemblies using Autodesk Inventor with emphasis on modularity, alignment, and maintenance
• Integrate diagnostic systems in harsh environments with strong EMP and electromagnetic interference; develop mechanical shielding, cooling and isolation strategies.
• Select UHV-compatible materials, components, and sealing methods for use in experimental vacuum chambers.
• Support assembly, alignment, and field deployment of diagnostic devices at remote experimental facilities.
• Collaborate closely with physicists, electrical engineers, and systems integrators to ensure diagnostic compatibility with laser systems and target chambers.
• Conduct structural, thermal, and mechanical simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics
• Create ISO/DIN/CE-compliant documentation, including technical drawings, BOMs, risk assessments, and safety documentation.

What you bring

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience
• Demonstrated experience designing and building precision mechanical systems for high-energy laser experiments or similar research environments
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor for mechanical design
• Hands-on experience with vacuum-compatible systems and UHV materials
• Strong understanding of Cooling systems for in-vacuum electronics
• Familiarity with ISO, DIN, and CE standards relevant to mechanical safety, manufacturing, and system integration
• Ability to work independently in both lab and remote deployment settings with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset

• Define and own the end-to-end electronic architecture for marine robotic subsystems, ensuring consistency across hardware, software, AI, and navigation and control interfaces

• Lead the selection of components, define specifications, and establish electronic design standards that balance performance, cost, and manufacturability

• Collaborate with AI and software engineers to design hardware interfaces that support on-board inference, sensor fusion, and autonomous decision-making

• Work with navigation and control engineers to ensure electronic subsystems meet the requirements for guidance, communication, and real-time control

• Design schematics and PCB layouts in coordination with mechatronics engineers, ensuring proper form, fit, and function through analytical and simulation tools

• Mentor and guide engineers within the electronics discipline, raising the quality bar for design reviews, documentation, and technical decision-making

• Drive validation and verification campaigns — defining test strategies, performing hardware bring-up, and leading electrical troubleshooting to mature designs toward production readiness

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Electrical Hardware Engineering team is expanding to support critical new projects bringing cutting-edge mobile mapping technology from concept to production. You'll be joining a team that designs custom electronics for our scanning systems, working with everything from 10-layer PCBs with high-speed signals to rigid-flex designs that power our innovative hardware. 

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves diving deep into product development, PCB design and prototyping. You'll be the subject matter expert ensuring hardware stability, supporting new product launches, and helping transition research projects into production-ready devices. Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of NavVis products used by customers worldwide. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Design and develop advanced PCBs (4+ layers, high-speed signals, power management) for our mobile mapping devices, including compute architectures, image sensors, and LiDAR integration 

• Build and test prototypes quickly, using hands-on skills with soldering, lab equipment, and debugging to ensure hardware reliability 

• Lead full board development cycles from concept through production, owning the technical decisions on component and supplier selection 

• Collaborate closely with Mechanical Design, Embedded Software, Supply Chain, and Software teams to integrate electrical systems into our products 

WHAT WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED IN THE ROLE

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or equivalent practical experience 

• 5+ years as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer in product development 

• Strong PCB design experience (high‑speed signals, power management, component selection, 4+ layer boards; BGA, HDMI, MIPI, USB 3, and rigid‑flex experience is a plus) 

• Hands-on prototyping and soldering skills; comfortable using oscilloscopes, DMMs, and spectrum analyzers 

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills that allow you to thrive in fast‑paced, agile environments 

Additionally if you have; 

• Experience with Linux and firmware development 

• Python-based application or test tool development 

• Understanding of EMC testing and product compliance
