We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Test and Evaluation (T&E) Safety and Standards team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with T&E leadership and various business lines to establish and oversee team training, safety, and standard practices both on-site and across multiple test facilities. A key responsibility will be ensuring compliance with DCMA 8210, DoD, and ATF regulations. Additionally, you will manage safety trends and conduct predictive analysis to enhance operational safety. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for rocket motors, explosives safety, and related flight operations.
- Monitor, interpret, and implement changes to rocket motor and explosives testing processes.
- Ensure timely communications to all stakeholders, internal and external.
- Lead internal readiness reviews related to developmental test safety and related flight test safety protocols.
- Develop, implement, and manage safety management system (SMS) and operational standards programs.
- Maintain safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and checklists to ensure compliance with federal, DoD, and company requirements.
- Establish and maintain a standardized approach to creating, updating, and publishing written procedures, checklists, manuals, and other documents required for the execution of test and flight related activities.
- Serve as liaison to all DoD regulatory entities for rocket motors and explosives.
- Serve as Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) for flight operations, as required.
- Lead or assist with Safety Councils to proliferate updated requirements, review lessons learned, and share ideas for the continuous improvement of test operations.
- Be prepared to conduct safety investigations into test related incidents and report findings to Anduril leadership as required.
- Review all incidents, track derivative issues, and ensure closure of all issues with subsequent out briefings that connect root cause analysis to root cause corrective actions.
- Maintain the Mishap Response Plan (MRP) for test, flight, and ground related activities.
- Track statistical data relating to test related incidents for trend analysis and potential corrective recommendations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
- Experience with Safety Management System (SMS) and quality programs.
- Strong knowledge of ATF, DoD, DCMA, and additional rocket motor and explosives regulations.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of R&D test policy creation / writing.
- Familiarity with US Military safety investigation processes.
- Knowledge of training requirements, currency, and proficiency.
- Experience with incident response / pre-accident planning.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Ability to travel on an as needed basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Military aviation and/or Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) background.
- Experience in aviation flight instruction, flight standardization, and/or flight safety.
- Prior Government Flight Representative (GFR), Government Ground Representative (GGR), or Contract Safety Representative (CSR) experience.
- Familiarity with DoD Manual 4145.26 Contractor’s Safety Manual for Ammunition and Explosives.
- Familiarity with DCMA 8210-1D Contractor’s Flight and Ground Operations
- Familiarity with ATF regulations related to explosives.
- UAS experience as either an operator or technician.
- Formal safety training (DoD, ATF, FAA, military, etc.).
- Familiarity with data analytics / statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with test / experimental processes.
- Familiarity with the technical writing process.
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. About the Team:
The Stennis Test team designs, builds, and operates Relativity’s propulsion and stage test stands. Team members are hands-on with large-scale, complex systems including fully integrated engines and stage assemblies, pushing hardware to the limits and directly contributing to flight readiness. The work is fast-paced and highly operational, ideal for those with backgrounds in aviation, automotive, manufacturing, offshore operations, industrial systems, construction, or adjacent industries. You’ll work in a close-knit, dynamic environment where collaboration between technicians, operators, and engineers is not only encouraged, but expected. As the company scales, the Stennis Test team becomes even more critical to unlocking our next phase of growth: proving out full-stage systems and paving the way for routine, reliable flights of Terran R.
About the Role:
- Serve as an Electrical Engineer connecting various internal technical teams to define electrical requirements and develop solutions on a wide variety of projects.
- Act as the owner’s representative to external consultants, contractors, and government agencies.
- Manage electrical utility construction activities for test stand facilities, including developing conceptual drawings/designs, requests for proposals, competitive bidding, bid evaluations, subcontractor selection, and subcontractor management for Stennis Space Center sites and other facilities across Relativity’s real estate portfolio.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the existing electrical distribution system, including developing maintenance and testing procedures for all AC power distribution equipment.
- Lead the design of electrical distribution systems for the Terran R and A2 test complexes.
- Manage day-to-day construction activities in coordination with the project manager for the Terran R test complex.
- Oversee commissioning and maintenance of systems and equipment.
- Support and troubleshoot AC power requests for Stennis Space Center facilities.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working on electrical power systems.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC).
- Experience in at least one of the following areas: analysis/design, hands-on field work, project management, or project execution.
Nice to Haves (Not Required):
- Experience with the design and operation of aerospace test infrastructure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Background in construction, commissioning, operations, troubleshooting, or maintenance of low-voltage power systems.
- Experience with electrical distribution design, hazard classification, single-line diagrams, breaker coordination, arc flash analysis, bid solicitation, contractor selection, construction management, permitting, and QA/QC.
- Engineering Intern (EI) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Power.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or Bluebeam.
- Experience with electrical power system analysis software (preferably EasyPower).
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E or NESC.
- Experience purchasing electrical hardware and materials.
