JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Field Service Engineer – RUPS Systems will specialize in rotary UPS power system distribution builds, mechanical and generator integration, system integration, start-ups, and preventative maintenance programs. This role requires advanced technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and hands-on field experience with both electrical control systems and rotating equipment such as generators and flywheels. Strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to delivering high-performance power solutions in data centers, hospitals, industrial facilities, and utility-scale environments are essential.
This is not a typical UPS engineer or technician role. In fact, a strong background in traditional static UPS systems may not be advantageous for this position. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience with mechanical systems, generators, and rotary equipment, and be comfortable commissioning complex power systems in the field. You will act as the front-line expert for bringing large-scale RUPS systems online, resolving technical issues, and training others. This role will also provide technical software and hardware troubleshooting support to the IEM customer base on-site throughout North America while performing start-ups, retrofits, or preventative maintenance. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional IEM teams to integrate current and new technologies, commission complex generator and RUPS systems, optimize existing power infrastructure, and ensure seamless operation across our power products as defined by the customer's RUPS design and sequence of operations (SOO). This role will serve as the point of contact for all field service personnel related to RUPS startup, generator support, preventative maintenance, 24-hour emergency response, and remote technical assistance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and perform on-site startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of RUPS systems, including generator integration, flywheel validation, and facility electrical infrastructure.
- Perform functional testing, load bank testing, system synchronization, and complete system validation to ensure all components meet performance specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to generators, flywheels, switchgear, control systems, fuel systems, and coupling assemblies.
- Follows a scientific step-by-step process to troubleshoot equipment issues. Captures data and troubleshooting steps concisely and accurately to facilitate effective communication to internal and external parties.
- Works directly with 3rd party equipment vendors and customers to help resolve re-occurring issues with vendor equipment within IEM’s integrated RUPS systems.
- Perform functional tests, load tests, synchronization, and RUPS system validation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to generators, flywheels, switchgear and related control systems.
- Interface with clients, contractors and internal IEM teams during commissioning and acceptance testing.
- Ensure all startup and commissioning documentation, test reports, onsite daily reports and required customer records are completed, submitted accurately and on time.
- Provide technical support and guidance during new installations and system upgrades.
- Train Field Service junior technicians on proper startup, commissioning procedures, troubleshooting protocols, preventative maintenance and how to operate the equipment safely.
- Maintain compliance with all industry and company safety standards, company procedures and client specific safety protocols.
- Communicate with Product Engineering and Design Teams with regards to important product bulletins that would affect service, software upgrades, product upgrades or maintenance factors.
- Travel to customer sites to lead commissioning activities with junior techs/engineers or complete commissioning independently.
- As required, travel to the manufacturing or field service offices of IEM to participate in or lead training exercises, and to participate in factory witness/shop testing.
- Assists with project start-up and resolving punch list items found at the jobsite. Work with the customer site superintendents or project managers to update punch lists and ensure jobs are closed out correctly.
- Provide detailed field trip reports that list the issues found onsite to the IEM manufacturing facilities regarding whether quality control standards are upheld to project design criteria and product specifications. Works with production, service and engineering teams to help resolve any deficiencies that are found.
- Work with the Field Service Leads in scheduling additional field resources and/or teams to cover service needs.
- Proven ability to manage complex power distribution projects, obtains great technical aptitude and has good communication skills.
- Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Power System Integration:
- Lead and support field integration of new RUPS and generator technologies with existing infrastructure, ensuring system compatibility and optimal performance.
System Optimization:
- Analyze system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability and scalability of existing power systems on customer sites.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Proficiency in Power/automation programming languages and ladder logic (IEC, Python, Java, SQL, HTML)
- Strong hands-on experience with rotating equipment, diesel generator systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting, including relay testing, load bank setup, and flywheel system commissioning.
- Experience with load bank testing, grounding systems and protective relay testing.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- Proficiency with diagnostic and testing tools - (oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, etc.)
- Experience and proficient with industrial power system controls and monitoring technologies.
- Communication Protocols-(Modbus/TCP, OPC, DNP3, ARP, IoT, DHCP, HTTP and IP)
- Familiar and Experience with the TCP/IP suite
- Experience with the utilization of Loop2k and Modscan
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering documents, codes, standards and technical procedures
- Experience with RUPS power system controls engineering, including ATO programming in PLC’s, Protective Relays and HMI’s
- Strong technical ability related to verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex power systems with field service personnel remotely or in person to resolve technical issues on a customer site.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSEE or MSEE
- Minimum 4 years of field experience working with RUPS-UPS power systems, rotary systems, or generator-based power systems.
- Prior experience in commissioning engineering, power systems integration, or generator field service strongly preferred.
- 4 years’ experience as an electrical engineer
- Professional Engineer (PE) License a Plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- A strong desire to grow and develop with a passion for providing excellent customer service
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- NFPA 70E certification

This Senior IAM Engineer will own the Okta for Government High (FedRAMP High) tenant, which serves as the enterprise Identity Provider and Identity Governance platform for a 1,500+ user organization. The role is the primary technical resource responsible for the build, enhancement, and operation of key functions, including SSO integrations, Identity Governance (OIG), Lifecycle Management, Workflows automation, and Adaptive MFA policy.
In the first three months, you will help develop the core program documentation and workflows. You will collaborate with external teams like IT, Legal and People to integrate into company processes. You will work with our technical security experts to build Identity and Access management processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Own the Okta for Government High (FedRAMP High) tenant — configuration, health, lifecycle, and security posture
- Manage Universal Directory: on-prem AD Agent sync, HRIS attribute mastering, profile mappings, and group rules
- Build and maintain all SSO app integrations via the Okta Integration Network (OIN) using SAML, OIDC, and SCIM
- Own and maintain Okta Adaptive MFA policies: factor enrollment rules, risk-based step-up authentication, FIDO2/YubiKey/PIV/CAC configuration
- Maintain the Okta System Log to Microsoft Sentinel log streaming pipeline and retention configuration
- Own Okta Identity Governance (OIG): entitlement catalog, access certification campaign setup, SoD policy rules, and access request workflow design
- Own, Build and Maintain Okta Lifecycle Management: JML automation rules, HRIS connector configuration, and auto-provisioning and deprovisioning into all connected applications, access review triggers, and automated remediation
- Design, build, and document all Okta-side enhancements including new app onboarding, policy changes, and IGA configuration updates

We are looking for a Senior Mask Layout Engineer on the Fab Tapeout and Validation Team. As a Senior Mask Layout Engineer, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will be the owner of full-reticle tapeouts for use in trapped-ion quantum computers, which could include both photonic and analog electronic layers. In addition, you will help develop and maintain the internal PDK and circuit layout libraries, as well as write scripts to automate the layout of masks for tapeouts. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the photonic and ion trap design and testing teams to help develop new and game-changing quantum technology to enable scalable quantum computing, memory, and networking.
The Fab Tapeout and Validation Team is a remote-friendly team and this role can be performed remotely or in-person at IonQ’s College Park, MD or Bothell, WA campuses.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Python-based layout for full-reticle tapeouts with commercial foundries
- Develop and maintain internal component PCell and automated circuit layout libraries
- Interface with designers, test engineers, packaging engineers, and foundry team to define layout rules and component designs
- Implement physical verification checks of layouts, including DRC and LVS
- Develop detailed documentation of tapeouts and lead layout reviews with other team members
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand circuit requirements and make recommendations to improve design, layout, and test workflows
You’d be a good fit with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and techniques

We are seeking an experienced Staff Product Manager to own a part of the computing engine at the heart of IonQ's quantum platform. This role spans the full lifecycle of quantum computation: from how circuits are compiled and optimized, orchestrating and scheduling complex workloads, and connecting them to our growing fleet of quantum processors deployed in cloud regions, national laboratories, and enterprise data centers worldwide.
IonQ's computing platform is at a critical inflection point, rapidly expanding as we scale. We’re rewriting, refactoring, or building whole new services up and down our stack to support our growing needs. Existing systems and datastores are being unified and matured, prepared for hybrid deployments into cloud + on-premise systems, and we’re integrating with new kinds of IT environments with rigorous requirements and complex needs. Every part of this space is a foundational, load-bearing system—and needs a strong product leader to guide their growth.
This is going to be a significant challenge both in scope and in skill. Your work will span compiler interface contracts to fleet operations systems and everything in-between. We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer for Application Engineering. As a Sr Software Engineer on the Applications Engineer team, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to deliver real-world applications and value from the leap forward in computing enabled by quantum technology.
We don't just build the world's best quantum computers - we apply cutting edge quantum computing tools to real world problems. Until now, our team of Applications Scientists have been building prototypes, working closely with our customers. Our new department, Applications Engineering, will ultimately help transform proven quantum computing use-cases pioneered by our scientists into production applications, making those innovations available to more people and businesses by packaging and deploying these tools as SaaS applications.
But first, we must mature existing proof-of-concept quantum code into production grade applications. As a hands-on team lead for a new engineering team, you will work on enhancing developer experience (DevEx) by applying best practices to research-grade code. You will also set up CI / CD pipelines, software packing tools, and pre/post flight tests for new algorithms as they go into deployment. Where possible you will also be in charge of optimizing and parallelizing traditional algorithms, to reduce pre-processing and post-processing workloads. You will spearhead a new team taking newly invented quantum applications, and turning them into well defined modules of reliable SaaS applications. Think of it as being a forward-deployed engineer for quantum computing applications; the strongest candidates will be generalists with wide-ranging interests.
This team will work closely with Developer Tools, Infrastructure, and Product teams to solve problems by choosing the right technologies, and standardizing and automating those solutions. The right engineer will be comfortable working on refining chemistry simplification via Quantum Computing tool one quarter, and turning a novel quantum topology solver into a service the next - and love pair programming with scientists. They’ll bring the quantum expertise; you bring the deep and broad experience in classical programming.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Application scientists to help deliver cutting-edge solutions for customers
- Elevate Applications code quality generally through architectural review, code review, standards, and best practices
- Improve Applications pace of delivery by creating CI / CD pipelines and other packaging automation, as well as test infrastructure and coverage
- Help productize computing code, especially improving data processing in pre-quantum and post-quantum processing steps
- Work closely with peers in Applications, Developer Tools, and Product teams to share best practices and feedback on internal tools
- Reporting to the Director of Application Engineering, help hire and mentor developers on the team
You’d be a good fit with:
- 12+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack developer, preferably in Python or Golang
- 5+ years of experience in setting up and maintaining CI / CD pipelines, in Github Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools
- 5+ years of experience in C/C++ or Rust
- 3+ years of experience in Docker, k8s, or similar containerization technologies
- A track record of shipping containerized applications that solve real business problems
- Previous work in scientific computing, quantum computing, or a related field
- Daily usage of augmented coding tools like Claude or Gemini
You’d be a great fit with:
- 5+ years of experience in scientific computing, especially with data analysis using numpy, pandas, or similar
- Experience in HPC or performance optimization
- Experience in converting traditional algorithms into CUDA, OpenMP workflows, or similar parallelization experience
- Experience with workflow orchestration engines like Airflow, Dagster, or Temporal
Location: This position can work onsite or hybrid from our office in Bothell, WA; College Park, MD; or Boulder, CO

The approximate base salary range for this position is $192,979 - $252,659. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.

We are looking for a Senior Quantum Field Engineer for our US Federal business. As a Senior Quantum Field Engineer, you’ll be part of a team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum solutions and solve the world’s most complex problems. Field Engineering sits at the intersection of customers, markets, products and product teams, algorithms, applications, innovation and strategy - this is the team where ideas become applied and have impact.
Join a nimble team of scientists, engineers, salespeople, marketers, business developers, and product managers to drive an entirely new quantum computing business. We’re seeking versatile engineers and architects skilled in technical sales, technical demos and customer interactions who feel energized to deliver IonQ’s quantum computing products and quantum applications.
Responsibilities:
- Inspire and co-engineer solutions with the US Intel Agencies by explaining IonQ’s strategy, portfolio and answering technical questions about quantum portfolio (compute, network, security, sensing and space) and quantum applications.
- Lead and shepherd client discussions, inspiring them to see how quantum applications can be implemented in their business domain.
- This includes working through business needs and mapping Quantum Algorithms (financial services, bioscience, chemistry and materials, optimization, generative AI, and other domains) into application code and executing Proof-of-Concepts together with the IonQ Application team.
- Share insights from clients with the IonQ Product Management and Engineering teams such that client feedback is incorporated into our products.
- Navigate competitive objection handling
- Translate business needs expressed by our clients into technical work projects in collaboration with other team members.
- Create assets to explain features of our quantum applications and other IonQ quantum products.
- Move dialogs from initial ideation to focused exploration domain through to proof-of-concept and ultimately into production workflows.
- Lead client discovery sessions for business-oriented use cases that uncover potential overlap with development of useful quantum algorithms together with the IonQ Application team
- Partner with marketing, developer relations and business development to grow awareness of IonQ in the world at large.
- Attend industry conferences, as needed, to talk to client and support our booth activities.
- This is a technical customer-facing role with the appropriate balance of compensation acceleration for success and a base salary to ensure that credibility and technical correctness always comes first.
You’d be a good fit with:
- 10+ years of experience in technical customer-facing role or equivalent capacity. The ability to communicate (at the various context-appropriate levels of depth) and persuade clearly, have strong EQ, and other customer-facing skills are critical.
- US Citizen, with Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance required, with a full scope polygraph preferred
- 5 years of focused experience with technology companies that support US Intel Agencies
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or other STEM field, such as Chemistry, Physics or Engineering
- Motivated learner with a strong interest in quantum computing.
