GRVTY is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Annapolis Junction, MD. The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based upon documented requirements. Directly contributes to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing. Provides expertise in Cloud Computing, Hadoop Eco-System including implementing Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object Oriented Design. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

What You Must Have

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance
• Experience with at least a subset of the following: Devops, Elastic Search, NiFi, Python, Java/Spring Boot, Angular
• Eight (8) years experience software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required; two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar Big-Data systems may be substituted for a bachelors degree. Master in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of experience. Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may be substituted for one (1) year of Cloud experience.
• The following Cloud related experiences are required:
• Two (2) years of Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR).

What you will do :

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs using Java and NestJS framework
• Build APIs that power company and contact data enrichment, search, and intelligence capabilities
• Architect and implement secure authentication and authorization systems using OAuth 2.0
• Build high-performance API gateways with advanced rate limiting, throttling, and quota management

• Collaborate with product and integration teams to define API contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs)
• Implement monitoring, logging, and analytics for API usage patterns and performance metrics

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in distributed API systems
• Contribute to technical architecture decisions for API platform evolution. 

What you bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in software development with strong focus on API development
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices at scale
• Strong expertise in Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Security, Maven/Gradle)

Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong back-end experience to support the ClinicalTrials.gov (CTG) program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This role will focus on designing and implementing scalable back-end services for a modernized, enterprise-level data submission platform that must achieve full functional parity with a legacy system while improving maintainability, reliability, and performance.

A key responsibility of this role includes studying legacy codebases and existing business rules, understanding complex regulatory and workflow logic, and translating that functionality into clean, well-architected services in the new system. Experience understanding server-side templates will be helpful.

The ideal candidate will help ensure the back-end architecture supports scalability, containerization, observability, and modern DevOps practices aligned with cloud-native principles.
