About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our New Product Introduction team and help build the next generation of Roku TV devices.
This is a hands-on embedded engineering role where you’ll work close to the hardware, operating system, and media stack — helping deliver features that ship directly to customers’ living rooms.

What You’ll Do
- Work independently and in small teams to deliver new product features and functionality on schedule
- Feature development in C/C++
- Maintain and design scalable embedded software solutions across our device portfolio
- Collaborate closely with QA and cross-functional engineering teams
- Integrate and optimise third-party APIs and media technologies
- Contribute across the full product lifecycle — from early hardware integration to customer-impacting issue resolution
- Work on System-on-Chip (SoC) integration, board bring-up, and device performance tuning
- Experiment with AI tools for automation and operational efficiency. Constantly look for creative and innovative ways to solve real life problems.
We’re Excited If You Have
- Hands-on professional software development experience
- Strong C/C++ systems programming background
- Solid understanding of embedded Linux, open-source tooling, and device-level development
- Experience working in user space and/or kernel space
- Familiarity with media playback engines, streaming protocols, or video/audio pipelines
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems or shipping software on hardware platforms
- Ability to estimate technical work and deliver reliably in a fast-moving environment
- Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent engineering experience
- Experience with SoC integration, device drivers, or video streaming technologies is highly valued.
- AI growth mindset – has experimented with AI tools.

This role will begin as a remote position with the intent to establish a local office in one of the target markets. Once the office is opened, the position will transition to a hybrid work arrangement.
This is a strategic growth role for a senior, client-facing professional with a strong municipal network and an active book of business. The successful candidate will lead business development and project delivery for municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects in their local geography, supported by Apex’s national resources and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Market Growth & Leadership
- Lead the growth of Apex’s water, wastewater, and stormwater services within your designated local market.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand relationships with municipal, utility, and public-sector clients.
- Leverage existing client relationships and your market insight to establish Apex as a trusted regional partner.
- Collaborate with Divisional and Regional Leadership to align local efforts with Apex’s broader infrastructure strategy.
Client Development & Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal and utility clients, understanding their infrastructure priorities and funding mechanisms.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities, lead proposal development, and manage interview and negotiation processes.
- Drive cross-selling of Apex’s complementary environmental, construction, and compliance services.
- Represent Apex at professional associations, technical committees, and industry conferences.
Project Delivery & Fiscal Oversight
- Oversee delivery of municipal infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment, distribution/collection systems, and stormwater management.
- Ensure technical excellence, quality control, and adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and QA/QC oversight to project teams.
- Manage project performance, including backlog, utilization, and profitability metrics.
Team Building & Mentorship
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, project managers, and technical staff to grow Apex’s local presence.

What we're looking for:
- BS or MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
- 15+ years of experience in municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure
- Registered Professional Engineer preferred in MA, CT, or NH
- Proven background in the design and management of water and wastewater treatment, distribution, collection, and conveyance systems
- Demonstrated success in developing new markets, securing key municipal clients, and achieving financial growth targets
- Strong record of mentoring, team development, and leading cross-discipline project teams
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients in a forward-thinking manner to drive growth and sustained performance through effective leadership

Overview
With the growth of our Android app, being the most used text-to-speech app in the Play Store, we find the need for a Senior Android Engineer to help us support the new user base as well as work on new and exciting projects to push us forward.

- Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
- Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
- Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate support for accessibility APIs (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or other relevant Windows accessibility frameworks), ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities.
- Collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term roadmap for the Windows platform.
- Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception → design → implementation → testing → release → maintenance. Ensure quality, reliability, and consistency across releases.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems — and propose robust architectural or design solutions.
Required:
- 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
- Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed code (.NET) and native code.
- Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).
- Experience leading technical design, mentoring other engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
- Strong communication skills; ability to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive consensus.
- A user-centric mindset: focus on building polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences for end users.
Preferred / Bonus:
- Experience with writing automated tests for UI — unit tests, integration tests, UI automation tests; familiarity with relevant testing frameworks.

Role Overview
In this Principal role, you will lead the design, build and operational excellence of core platform capabilities covering backend services, modern frontend applications, and critical platform infrastructure or APIs. You will drive architectural strategy, mentor senior engineers, collaborate at cross functional and technical leadership levels, and ensure the system scales reliably across global, enterprise use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the architecture and delivery of backend services and microservices, supporting high throughput, globally distributed systems.
- Lead frontend development using modern frameworks (React/Angular/Vue.js + TypeScript) for responsive, performant, enterprise grade applications.
- Drive design and implementation of containerization/Docker and orchestration (Kubernetes) for production scale deployment and standardization across teams.
- Partner with cross functional leaders (product, UX, QA, architecture) to shape roadmap, align technical strategy with business priorities and ensure rapid but sustainable delivery.
- Establish engineering best practices: code reviews, technical mentorship, continuous improvement, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, observability and platform health.
- Own cloud-native delivery (AWS, GCP, Azure), infrastructure-as-code, monitoring and operational resilience for mission critical capabilities.
- Lead risk identification and mitigation, optimize system performance, ensure scalability and reliability across multi‑tenant enterprise environments.
- Act as a mentor and thought leader, enabling engineers across teams, contributing to onboarding, knowledge sharing, industry innovation, and engineering culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive professional software engineering experience (or analogous senior technical leadership) with deep expertise in Java and object-oriented design.
- Proven full stack development background: frontend (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and backend (APIs, databases, distributed systems).
- Demonstrated experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) and proficiency with TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, relational databases (SQL) and large‑scale backend operations.
- Hands on with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) in production.
- Experience using version control (Git) and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) in global, cross team environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and technical leaders.
Desirable Skills
- Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with data streaming/event driven architectures (Kafka, Flink, Pulsar) and high throughput systems.
- Mature experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and micro frontend patterns.
- Strong testing & observability mindset (JUnit, Jest, Cypress) and performance optimisation.
- Prior experience in global engineering teams, mentoring senior and principal engineers, and setting engineering direction.
