This Construction Manager position is responsible for providing oversight of construction, start-up, and commissioning of a water pollution control facility. The position will work closely with the other members of the project team, including the Owner, contractors, and design engineers to ensure the successful delivery of the infrastructure project. The successful candidate will need to be able to: understand and interpret design documents (technical specifications, construction drawings, etc.); produce daily field documentation (reports, etc.); facilitate progress meetings; communicate to the Owner’s Project Manager Team and Design Team; review pay applications; conduct and document field changes to design documents; work closely with a diverse, multidisciplinary project team; and interface with the design team, field crews, and Owner as needed.

Your Responsibilities as a Construction Manager:

• Provide construction management oversight and full-time on-site resident engineering for a Wastewater Treatment Plant construction project.
• Collaborate with project teams to address design issues, coordinate with contractors’ project managers on design- and construction-related issues, obtain daily updates on project issues from construction inspectors, and report issues to Owner.
• Review construction drawings and specifications, develop a detailed understanding of the performance and construction requirements, and evaluate these requirements versus construction progress and quality.
• Provide notes, observations, photos, and measurements documenting the implementation of field work. Compare field implementation against the drawings, specifications, submittals, and requirements included by Owner requirements.
• Generate project correspondence, including responses to contractor correspondences in a timely manner to avoid delay, to convey Owner positions and to protect Owner’s best interests.
• Review and analyze contractors’ construction schedules to ensure compliance with approved contract schedules and address deficiencies.
• Coordinate and resolve issues in the field with Owner, consultants, contractors, designers, regulatory agencies, and the affected public.
• Prepare detailed digital daily reports documenting weather, equipment, manpower, and construction activities, daily progress photos, as well as monthly progress reports for project stakeholders.
• Lead and/or assist with commissioning, testing, and start-up of the wastewater treatment plant process systems/equipment and facility as a whole for turning over to Owner.
• Prepare effective and accurate record documents and all project, permit, and contract closeout documentation.
• Perform constructability reviews of designs.

Apex is seeking a talented Project Manager, with drinking water experience, for a hybrid position. The selected employee will provide technical leadership for a variety of water system design-related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, and water distribution systems throughout New England. While we prefer someone in the Greater Boston area, we will consider those located in other parts of New England who can travel to our client sites. Primary Responsibilities: 

• Manages project implementation with assigned project team and follows all company policies and operating procedures. This includes keeping the client informed of the on-going status of a project and providing adequate management, advice, and support to the members of the project team 
• Initiates projects by developing proposals/scopes of work and project budgets for approval by the Principal. For assigned projects, completes project initiation documents that includes detailed scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion. 
• Supervises and directs individuals or teams of technical staff on projects and assists in the training and technical development of staff by holding training seminars, providing technical guidance during project execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house. 
• Consults with other technical staff and Project Managers on technical challenges in the drinking water discipline while also providing independent technical reviews on projects for other water discipline leaders. 
• Oversees the technical accuracy of project through regular communications with project staff, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with the firm's standards. 
• Tracks all projects costs, including labor and expenses, versus the project, and ensures that invoices are issued to the client in a timely manner in accordance with company policy. 
• Other tasks may include proposal preparation, participating in project interviews, attending public meetings, developing fee proposals, preparing contracts and presenting information to new and future potential clients 

 What we're looking for: 

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or other related Engineering discipline and 9+ years of drinking water design experience, including project management, or a master’s degree in the same with 8+ years of related experience. 
• Registered Professional Engineer or other Professional Registrations as appropriate for their primary field of expertise in State(s) where Apex does work or ability to obtain same by reciprocity. 
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants and contractors through effective leadership, and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. 
• Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does work.

• Serves as the Technical Lead for the transportation components of more complex projects
