The Role
You’ll build the network foundations at the core of our mission that enable the development and operation of high-powered satellites – from our corporate offices, factory floor to test, launch, and on-orbit operations. You will define and evolve the architectures that connect people, systems, and missions to ensure resilient and high-performance networking across production labs, data centers, cloud environments, and global operations. In your first six months, you’ll set the technical direction for how we design, secure, and operate networks that can keep pace with rapid hardware iteration and mission-critical timelines. As we scale your work will become a force multiplier – supporting increasingly powerful spacecraft, more complex missions, and the subsequent infrastructure required to deliver a new class of satellite technology. The networks you build will be foundational to how K2 Space designs, tests, launches, and operates the most capable satellites in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal technical authority for enterprise networking, defining long-term network architecture and strategy aligned with business and security objectives
- Architect, design, and govern large-scale, highly available, and secure network environments across data centers, cloud, hybrid, and global WANs
- Own network reference architectures, standards, and design patterns, ensuring scalability, resiliency, performance, and operational consistency
- Lead the design and execution of complex initiatives such as data center modernization, cloud networking transformations, SD-WAN deployments, and zero-trust network architectures
- Evaluate network technologies, service providers, and vendors; make strategic recommendations on adoption, optimization, and deprecation
- Mentor senior and staff-level network engineers, raising the technical bar and building organizational depth
Qualifications
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience in the Networking Architecture and Design, Network Implementation and Network Test Automation
- Strong foundation in IT network and systems methodology (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support)
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, TCP/IP).
- Experience with logical design models (L2/L3, VPC, VDC, Datacenter Zones, Spanning Tree, VRF, VTP, VLANs, and cabling)
- Working technical knowledge of network control protocols (QoS, PfR, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, ITIL Foundations v3, etc.)
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or engineering
- Technical certifications (i.e., Network+, MCSE, Security+)
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary range for this role is $155,000 – $185,000 and equity in the company

The Role
You’ll help build and operate the networks that enable the design, testing, launch, and operation of high-powered satellites. You’ll be deeply hands-on – designing, deploying, and supporting resilient network infrastructure across production labs, factories, data centers, and cloud environments. You’ll work alongside Engineers pushing the limits of satellite capability, solving complex problems, and evolving our networks to keep pace with rapid iteration and mission-critical demands. As we scale, the systems you build and improve will directly enable faster development, more capable spacecraft, and reliable operations at every stage of the mission.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate enterprise and mission-critical network infrastructure across offices, factories, data centers, and cloud environments
- Provide hands-on support for day-to-day network operations, including troubleshooting connectivity, performance, and availability issues in production environments
- Configure, manage, and maintain firewalls and network security controls, including policy design, rule management, segmentation, and integration with security tooling
- Implement and support routing and switching infrastructure, including VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and high-availability network designs
- Support hybrid and cloud networking environments, including VPNs, site-to-site connectivity, and secure access to cloud resources

Responsibilities
- Solve problems within existing pipelines, focusing on simple and robust solutions

The Role
The Sr. Paraglider & Parachute Engineer will own the final, critical phase of the Outpost mission: the landing. While our deployable heat shield handles the hypersonic deceleration, it is the guided paraglider system that enables us to land payloads with "pinpoint" accuracy rather than just splashing down in the ocean or crashing in the desert. You will lead the design, development, and testing of high-performance paraglider & parachute systems. You will work at the intersection of soft-goods engineering, aerodynamics, and GNC, ensuring that our recovery system can deploy reliably at altitude and navigate to a precise landing zone.
Responsibilities
- Recovery System Architect: Lead the design and development of the parachute & paraglider recovery system, including canopy sizing, reefing strategies, and riser geometry.
- Textile & Manufacturing: Develop fabrication processes for complex soft goods. You will own material selection (ripstop nylon, Kevlar, Dyneema), patterning, and integration of hardware (steering lines, toggles, releases).
- Deployment Sequence: Design the deployment sequence for transitioning from the heatshield configuration, to drogue parachute flight, and on to stable paraglider flight, ensuring no entanglement during the critical handover.
- Flight Test Lead: Plan and execute flight tests (dropped from crane, aircraft, and balloon platforms) to validate opening characteristics and flight performance.
- GNC Integration: Collaborate closely with the Avionics and GNC teams to characterize the aerodynamic model of the paraglider, ensuring the autopilot can effectively steer the vehicle to the landing site.
- Hands-on Fabrication: Be willing to "cut cloth" and work with riggers and sewing technicians to prototype designs rapidly.
- Reliability: Own the reliability analysis for the recovery system, ensuring we meet the stringent safety requirements for returning critical payloads
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience minimum (15+ years preferred) in the design and manufacturing of paragliders, parachutes, or parafoils
- Deep knowledge of soft-goods: Expertise in textile behaviors, patterning software (e.g., SpaceCAD, Lectra, specialized CAD modules), and construction techniques for flight-critical fabrics.
- Flight Test Heritage: Experience planning and conducting flight tests, including instrumentation, ground support, and data analysis.
- Mechanism Experience: Familiarity with reefing line cutters, pyrotechnic releases, and multi-stage deployment mechanisms.
- Aerodynamics: Strong understanding of low-speed aerodynamics, glide ratios, flare characteristics, and dynamic stability of flexible wings.

The Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will own the mechanical test and qualification process for spacecraft components and vehicles from concept through execution and data analysis. This is a deeply mechanical role with elements of mechatronics, instrumentation, and software for data acquisition, with strong ownership over how our hardware is qualified for flight.
You will design and build test fixtures and portable test racks, define test plans (qualification, acceptance, drop, load, vibration, deployment, etc.), execute tests, and analyze results to inform design and certification decisions. Rather than “pressing the button” on pre‑defined procedures, you will create new tests and infrastructure for new products in a fast‑moving space startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical test and qualification activities for spacecraft components and vehicles, from requirements interpretation through test execution and reporting.
- Develop test strategies and plans for qualification tests, acceptance tests, drop/load tests, deployment tests, and other space‑relevant environments.
- Design, model, and document mechanical test fixtures, jigs, stands, and custom setups (e.g., for heat shield, mechanisms, and structural testing).
- Architect and help implement portable test racks integrating power supplies, sensors, data acquisition, and control hardware into organized, reusable systems.
- Define instrumentation approaches (load cells, strain gauges, displacement, pressure, temperature, etc.) and work with electrical teammates to integrate sensors and wiring.
- Implement and/or specify data acquisition and control software using tools such as LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB for test automation and data collection.
- Perform data reduction and analysis to extract key metrics, identify anomalies, and drive design or test configuration changes.
- Create and maintain clear test documentation: test procedures, configuration drawings, calibration records, data packages, and test reports aligned with NASA‑style standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic circuit/connection diagrams to ensure correct test configuration and boundary conditions.
- Collaborate closely with design, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure tests meaningfully qualify hardware and trace back to requirements.
- Contribute to the development of internal test standards and best practices, leveraging NASA and industry qualification guidelines as the “test bible.”
- Provide technical leadership on test approach and infrastructure (technical management), even if you do not directly manage people.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in hardware test development.
- Strong, hands‑on mechanical background with experience designing and building test fixtures, stands, and mechanical setups for hardware tests.
- Experience developing or significantly contributing to new tests for aerospace, space, or similarly high‑reliability hardware (not just operating existing, legacy rigs).
- Familiarity with spacecraft or launch vehicle components, or other space/aviation hardware where qualification and reliability are critical.
- Comfort working with sensors and instrumentation (wiring, basic electrical understanding) sufficient to own test setups without being an electrical engineer.
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis using at least one of: LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings (and basic circuit diagrams) to set up tests correctly and understand what is being verified.
- Demonstrated ownership of end‑to‑end test efforts: planning, setup, execution, troubleshooting, and reporting.

The Role
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will serve as the technical authority for the primary and secondary structures of Outpost’s Carryall. This is a role for a veteran structural engineer who has expertise on full-scale flight vehicles whether launch vehicles, satellites, or re-entry capsules. Unlike traditional space vehicle roles where the structure simply needs to survive launch, you are designing for the round trip: launch vibration, the harsh vacuum of orbit, and the extreme thermal and mechanical loads of hypersonic re-entry and landing. You will own the structural architecture of the vehicle, moving rapidly from trade studies to detailed analysis, and finally to hands-on integration. We need someone with the deep intuition that comes from 15+ years of seeing hardware fly (and fail).
Responsibilities
- Structural Architect: Lead the mechanical design of the entire vehicle structure, including primary structure, interfaces to the deployable heatshield, secondary structures, and payload bay
- High-Fidelity Analysis: Perform and sign off on detailed hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS/FEMAP/NASTRAN). You will be the final check on stiffness, buckling, and thermal expansion compatibility.
- Drawing & GD&T: Create and approve high-quality manufacturing drawings with appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) to ensure parts fit the first time.
- Build & Test Leadership: "Get your hands dirty" leading the assembly of your designs. Own the structural test campaign (static load, random vibration, shock, and deployment testing) to qualify hardware for flight.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Work directly with machine shops, composite vendors, and external partners to resolve fabrication conflicts and ensure on-time delivery of precision parts.
- Mentorship: Elevate the team's standard of engineering rigor. Mentor junior engineers in design best practices, analysis methods, and First Principles thinking.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience minimum (15+ preferred) in the design and analysis of complex aerospace structures and mechanisms.
- Full-Vehicle Heritage: Proven track record working on full space vehicles or rockets (not just subsystems). You should have experience taking a primary structure from concept through PDR/CDR to flight.
- CAD Proficiency: Expert-level skill in Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar parametric modeling software.
- Analysis Expertise: Deep background in structural analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations. You must trust your hand calcs before you trust the solver.
- Materials Knowledge: Extensive understanding of aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, Inconel, composites) and their behavior in extreme thermal environments.
- Manufacturing Fluency: You understand the limits of manufacturing, CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, and composite layup, and you design for them.

The Team
The Avionics team is responsible for the design, testing, and production of electronic systems for Outpost’s Earth return vehicles and ground support equipment. You'll collaborate closely with engineers across multiple domains to create efficient and sustainable solutions. This position offers the chance to engage in all aspects of spacecraft development and own avionics subsystems from end to end, from architecture and requirements definition through design, test, integration, and providing support during flight and re-entry.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical architectures, design circuits, capture schematics, and lay out PCBAs.
- Design custom electrical harnesses and oversee harness builds.
- Make build vs. buy decisions to best satisfy design, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Develop and support electrical ground equipment and test hardware, including HITL and FlatSat setups.
- Drive root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of electronics-related issues in spacecraft and ground systems.
- Interface directly with external vendors to ensure that hardware is delivered on time and with expected quality.

The Role

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Structures and Mechanism team who will design and build the test and qualification process for spacecraft components and vehicles - from concept through execution and data analysis. This is a deep mechanical role with elements of instrumentation and data acquisition, and strong ownership over how our hardware earns its right to fly.
This role spans the full engineering lifecycle - design, analysis, drawing release, build support, and test. You'll work alongside an integrated team and have meaningful ownership of your hardware from day one.
What You’ll Do
- Design, model, and fabricate mechanical components and test fixtures for spacecraft assemblies, including heat shield, payload containment, parachute and paraglider systems, and primary and secondary structure.
- Select materials, fasteners, and mechanical interfaces that satisfy flight boundary conditions.
- Produce engineering drawings and documentation for in-house build or vendor fabrication.
- Iterate designs rapidly based on test outcomes and anomalies, build, test, learn, improve.
- Set up and execute test, including apply instrumentation (load cells, strain gauges, displacement sensors, thermocouples, pressure transducers), and verifying boundary conditions prior to every test run.
- Troubleshoot mechanical test anomalies hands-on: trace failures to root cause, propose corrective actions, and retest to closure Participate in peer reviews and formal milestone reviews (CDR, TRR, etc.).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 2-5+ years of hands-on experience designing flight hardware structures and mechanisms.
- Experience in hardware test development.
- Familiarity with spacecraft or launch vehicle components, or other space/aviation hardware where qualification and reliability are critical.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks or similar) and GD&T.
- Experience taking hardware from design to build to test in an aerospace or space environment.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, GD&T.
- Strong documentation habits and familiarity with following structured standards and guidelines.

The Role
The Principal Thermal Protection System Engineer (TPS) will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of the (TPS) for our Carryall reentry vehicle. This role sits at the intersection of high-temperature materials science, aerothermal analysis, and mechanical design. You will own the primary barrier that allows our vehicles to survive the extreme environments of reentry, turning the "impossible" physics of returning from orbit into a repeatable, reusable operation.
You will work closely with engineering leadership and the mechanical engineering team, to architect a TPS that is robust enough to handle hypersonic heat fluxes and flexible enough to stow and deploy on orbit. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who is ready to take ownership of a flight-critical subsystem from design through to flight qualification.
Responsibilities
- Lead TPS Architecture: Define the TPS architecture and thermal protection strategy for the Carryall vehicle, selecting materials and material stack-ups that balance thermal performance, mass, and mechanical flexibility.
- Aerothermal Analysis: Perform and guide high-fidelity aeroheating analysis (CFD) and thermal response modeling to validate specifications and predict performance under reentry loads.
- Material Qualification: Lead the testing and characterization of flexible and rigid TPS materials, including arc-jet testing, radiant heat testing, and mechanical load testing.
- Design for Manufacturability: Oversee the transition from theoretical design to flight hardware, managing vendor relationships for TPS materials including fabrics, thermal barriers, and adhesives.
- Validation & Verification: Develop and support the verification plan for the TPS subsystem, ensuring all requirements are met prior to flight.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical roadmap for future scaled up re-entry vehicle generations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering (or related field).
- 10+ years of experience in the development of thermal protection systems, hypersonic aerodynamics, or high-temperature structural materials.
- Deep understanding of heat transfer mechanisms (convection, radiation, conduction) specifically during atmospheric entry.
- Simulation expertise: Proficiency with thermal and ablation modeling tools (e.g., FIAT, CMA, Thermal Desktop, or custom solvers) and analysis software (ANSYS, MATLAB/Python).
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing, specifically environmental or arc-jet testing of TPS materials.
- Proven ability to manage complex trade studies involving mass, volume, and thermal performance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex thermal risks to the broader engineering team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where requirements may evolve and urgency is key.

We’re seeking a Senior BMS/BAS Engineer to lead the design, integration, and commissioning of advanced building automation and control systems for our most complex mission-critical projects. In this role, you will be the technical authority on the "digital nervous system" of the facility, ensuring that HVAC, power, and specialized industrial systems operate with maximum reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or equivalent technical role.

About This Role
As a Specialist IT/ICT Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing the secure digital backbone of a state-of-the-art enrichment facility from concept through commission. You will design, analyze, and implement high-security Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems that meet stringent government regulatory requirements for classified data handling, physical security, and TEMPEST/TSG compliance.
You will work on a greenfield and brownfield projects, collaborating with architects, electrical engineers, and security specialists to develop detailed telecommunications and network infrastructure designs. This is an exciting opportunity to solve complex connectivity problems at scale, managing secure network distribution within a dynamic, high-stakes industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop detailed ICT and low-voltage systems, including classified/unclassified network distribution (SIPR/NIPR/JWICS or equivalent), secure server rooms, and telecommunications spaces.
- Prepare design packages up to Permit level in Revit, ensuring seamless integration of horizontal cabling, backbone pathways, and rack elevations.
- Own the design and coordination of specialized shielding, secure containment (PDS), and grounding systems required for restricted government data networks.
- Coordinate pathway requirements (conduits, cable trays, and underground duct banks) with structural and mechanical disciplines to ensure system survivability and separation.
- Ensure compliance and code review utilizing BICSI standards, TIA/EIA, and specific government security overlays (e.g., ICD 705, NISPOM, or UFC requirements for classified facilities).
- Collaborate with MEP and Nuclear engineers to ensure facility power budgets, cooling requirements, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) mitigations are met for sensitive IT equipment.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.

The Role
You will own the success of Avionics testing involving the computing, data acquisition, RF, and power subsystems that are key to our satellite operation. In your first 6 months, you will be pivotal in developing production quality test hardware and software to deliver flight avionics through ATP and QTP for the first Mega satellite constellation. The Role
We are seeking a Principal ASIC Package Design Engineer to lead advanced ASIC package architecture and execution, with a strong focus on flip-chip BGA (FC-BGA) and multi-chip module (MCM) solutions. This role owns the end-to-end package strategy for high-performance mixed-signal and digital SoCs from early architecture and trade studies through vendor engagement, qualification, and production ramp. You will operate as the technical authority for package design, defining standards, influencing silicon and system architecture, and ensuring first-pass success for complex, high-speed, power-dense ASICs.
Responsibilities
- Own ASIC package architecture for FC-BGA and MCM solutions, including substrate stack-up, ball-map strategy, power delivery, signal breakout, and mechanical constraints.
- Lead package-level trade studies across cost, performance, power integrity (PI), signal integrity (SI), thermal, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Define long-term packaging roadmap aligned with future ASIC nodes, bandwidth scaling, and multi-die integration.
- Establish organizational package design standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Drive detailed design of FC-BGA packages for high-pin-count ASICs with high-speed SerDes, dense power grids, and RF signal content.
- Define and review substrate stack-ups, via strategies, impedance control, escape routing, and reference plane planning.
- Partner with silicon, RF, and systems teams to co-optimize die floorplans and package interfaces.
- Own package-level SI/PI strategy, including high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., SerDes, JESD, Interlaken), power delivery network (PDN) design, and decoupling strategy
- Lead thermal architecture at the package level, including lid selection, TIMs, heat-spreaders, and mechanical interfaces to system cooling.
- Serve as the primary technical interface to substrate vendors, assembly houses, and OSATs.
- Drive material selection, substrate technology choices, and assembly process optimization.
Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience in ASIC package design, with deep expertise in FC-BGA.

The Role

The Role
You will be responsible for the design & validation of radio-frequency (RF) and microwave electronics to be hosted on some of the largest, most powerful, rapidly designed, and rapidly manufactured satellites ever deployed in space. In your first 6 months, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of antenna, RF, field programmable gate array (FPGA), digital signal processing (DSP), software, mechanical, and electrical engineers in order to prototype your systems and refine your designs. In your first two years you will have contributed to developing cutting-edge RF systems that will fly in space.
Responsibilities
- Lead research, design, and procurement of antenna systems
- Qualify radio-frequency and antenna hardware through environmental testing, including vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal vacuum (TVAC)
- Assist with design and validation testing for radio-frequency and microwave hardware from UHF through Ka band, including antennas, low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, filters, high-speed converters, and other RF electronic components
- Execute development and production tests to meet internal and external customer needs

The Role
The software team at K2 strives to blur the lines between the various types of software development and encourages team members to get into parts of the stack they may not otherwise have experience with. This spectrum includes GNC algorithms (Rust, C++), application software on flight computers (Rust, C++), to embedded software on microcrontrollers (Rust, C++),to operating systems (Rust, C++, C), to HDL programming (VHDL, SystemVerilog), to test systems (Python), and many things inbetween. By doing this, we create a stronger team with more capable engineers. For now, this does not include front-end, artificial intelligence, or machine learning development.
As a part of the team, you will be responsible for the development and verification of the software used to fly some of the largest spacecraft that have ever been flown. You will be able to write mission-critical code that controls propulsion systems, attitude control systems, and power systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of the vehicle. In your first 6 months you will developcore pieces of the software architecture including the strategies for fault tolerance, real-time control, and telemetry downlink. In your first year you will implement larger software systems and begin verifying your code using both software and hardware in the loop simulators. In your first two years you will operate your code on multiple spacecraft, demonstrating robust performance in demanding missions.

The Role
We are seeking a Senior ASIC Package Design Engineer to implement advanced ASIC package architecture, with a strong focus on flip-chip BGA (FC-BGA) and multi-chip module (MCM) solutions. This role supports the end-to-end package strategy for high-performance mixed-signal and digital SoCs from early architecture and trade studies through vendor engagement, qualification, and production ramp. You will collaborate with internal teams for package design, defining standards, influencing silicon and system architecture, and ensuring first-pass success for complex, high-speed, power-dense ASICs.
Responsibilities
- Define ASIC package architecture for FC-BGA and MCM solutions, including substrate stack-up, ball-map strategy, power delivery, signal breakout, and mechanical constraints.
- Lead package-level trade studies across cost, performance, power integrity (PI), signal integrity (SI), thermal, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Establish package design standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Drive detailed design of FC-BGA packages for high-pin-count ASICs with high-speed SerDes, dense power grids, and RF signal content.
- Define and review substrate stack-ups, via strategies, impedance control, escape routing, and reference plane planning.
- Partner with silicon, RF, and systems teams to co-optimize die floorplans and package interfaces.
- Support package-level SI/PI strategy, including high-speed digital interfaces, power delivery network (PDN) design, and decoupling strategy
- Lead thermal architecture at the package level, including lid selection, TIMs, heat-spreaders, and mechanical interfaces to system cooling.
- Drive material selection, substrate technology choices, and assembly process optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in ASIC package design, with deep expertise in FC-BGA.
- Proven experience delivering high-pin-count, high-performance ASIC packages into production.
- Strong understanding of substrate technologies and materials, SI/PI fundamentals at the package level, and thermal management for power-dense ASICs.
- Fluent in SI/PI and EM simulation tools such as SIWave, HFSS, and ADS.
- Experience working directly with OSATs and substrate vendors.
- Knowledge of packaging qualification and test methodologies.

The Role
You will be the Responsible Engineer for system design, analysis, testing and integration of Avionics with specialized focus on spacecraft charging, radiation, EMI, and/or RF. You will have the unique opportunity to partner with a cross functional team of engineers to make impactful architecture trades, design new spacecraft hardware, and characterize the overall Avionics System performance on some of the largest, most powerful satellites. You will help establish production test infrastructure and qualify the spacecraft for the demanding environments of MEO and GEO. In your first two years, you will have qualified hardware for flight, completed Avionics integration on the satellite bus, and flown your first spacecraft.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Responsible Engineer for Avionics system design, performance, and hardware across the computing, power system, instrumentation, RF components, GNC sensors, and harnessing on the satellite bus
- Collaborate closely within the cross functional Engineering teams to capture requirements, lead design trades, and integrate the design into the spacecraft systems
- Create and update technical documentation including system diagrams, schematics, interface control documents, procedures, test/anomaly reports
- Execute Avionics component and system testing on flight hardware through development acceptance, qualification, and integration testing

- Design, develop and build Avionics production infrastructure
- Write modular, reusable test, analysis, and automation software in Python and Rust

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Cloud Engineer who shares our vision: someone who doesn’t just maintain cloud infrastructure — but thinks deeply about scalability, security, reliability, and how cloud systems power space-grade engineering and operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS) across production, staging, and development environments.
- Define and implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) automation (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, etc.), CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and other automation tooling to enable rapid, reproducible, and secure deployments.
- Collaborate with software, mission-ops, and DevOps teams to integrate cloud architecture into our development lifecycle (DevSecOps — from build to launch).
- Establish and manage identity and access management (IAM), role-based access, encryption, network security, secrets management, and compliance controls.
- Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and cost-effectiveness of cloud services; implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.
- Perform security assessments, threat modeling, vulnerability scans, compliance audits; develop mitigation strategies and drive best practices.
- Create clear documentation of architectures, relevant procedures, security policies, and infrastructure diagrams — and communicate across teams and stakeholders.
- Stay on top of cloud security threats, emerging technologies, and compliance requirements — and champion proactive improvements in our cloud posture.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years (senior-level) hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP or similar), preferably across multiple cloud platforms.
- Strong proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, etc.), CI/CD, configuration management, and scripting (e.g. Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Solid understanding of cloud-native services (VMs, containers/Kubernetes, serverless, databases, networking, storage) and ability to design scalable, resilient architectures.
- Experience with container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Docker) and modern deployment workflows.
- Deep knowledge of security best practices: IAM, encryption, network security (firewalls, VNets), secrets management, monitoring, logging, and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) compliance regimes relevant to defense/space sector (e.g., FedRAMP, CMMC, ITAR, government-cloud environments) — especially if working on sensitive or government-facing projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication (verbal + writing), ability to work in cross-functional teams, and comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment.

You will be responsible for designing, testing, and flying critical electronics across all of the K2 Space satellites. In your first 6 months you will prototype your first electronics assembly and execute environmental and performance testing to refine your designs. In your first year you will qualify your hardware for flight and begin designing even more capable devices for future generations of spacecraft. The Role
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop and enhance low‑level embedded software across the satellite platform. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll work closely with custom hardware to develop low-level software that brings our spacecraft to life. From initial hardware bring-up through fully integrated, flight-ready systems.
You’ll build embedded software that interfaces directly with sensors, actuators, and critical spacecraft subsystems, including propulsion, attitude control, and power. Your work will primarily be written in Rust and deployed on microcontrollers across our platform, requiring strong fundamentals in real-time systems, resource-constrained environments, and fault-tolerant design.
Responsibilities
- Create embedded software architecture for real-time, fault tolerant control of a 20kW+ spacecraft.
- Develop embedded software for new hardware integrated throughout the satellite.
- Extend embedded software applications for managing hardware on some of the largest satellites that have ever flown.
- Scale embedded software across different satellite products by building software infrastructure and development processes.
- Debug complex HW/FW issues using traditional debug tools (JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes), and custom debug hooks both on the ground and in orbiting satellites.
- Mentor a diverse team of software engineers and instill embedded software best practices.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing embedded software in either Rust, C, or C++, targeting microcontrollers (ARM, RISC-V, or similar).
- Strong understanding of your favorite microcontroller’s memory subsystem, instruction pipeline, interrupt and DMA controller.

The Role
The software team at K2 strives to blur the lines between the various types of software development and encourages team members to get into parts of the stack they may not otherwise have experience with. This spectrum includes HDL programming (VHDL, SystemVerilog), embedded software on microcontrollers (Rust, C++), operating systems (Rust, C++, C), application software on flight computers (Rust, C++), GNC algorithms (Rust, C++), to test systems (Python), and many things inbetween. By doing this, we create a stronger team with more capable engineers. For now, this does not include front-end, artificial intelligence, or machine learning development.
As a part of the team, you will be responsible for the development and verification of FPGA firmware used to fly some of the largest spacecraft that have ever been flown. You will be able to write mission-critical code that controls propulsion systems, attitude control systems, RF systems, and power systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of the vehicle. In your first 6 months you will work with your team to develop core pieces of the FPGA architecture such as the strategies for fault tolerance, real-time control, high-speed data routing, and telemetry downlink. In your first year you will implement larger and more complex FPGA systems and begin verifying your code using both software and hardware in the loop simulators. In your first two years you will operate your code on multiple spacecraft, demonstrating robust performance in demanding missions.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and implementation of critical programmable logic systems across the spacecraft that support vehicle networking, RF systems, and real-time control of all spacecraft subsystems
- Implement these architectures in RTL using VHDL and SystemVerilog
- Verify and validate FPGA designs using a mix of simulation, bench-testing, and Hardware In The Loop testbeds
- Support integration, test, and troubleshooting efforts for FPGA designs across all levels of the spacecraft development and manufacturing
- Develop the tools and infrastructure to support rapid, high-reliability FPGA solutions across all subsystems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, or a STEM discipline or 3+ years of professional experience in software development
- 3+ years working with complex FPGA designs spanning digital, mixed signal, or RF applications
- Development experience with VHDL or SystemVerilog

- Solid grounding in cloud + Kubernetes networking, for example VPC & subnet layout, routing, east-west segmentation, service exposure, DNS/CoreDNS, policy enforcement, and CNI behaviour
- Practical service trust & identity knowledge such as mTLS, certificate automation/rotation, PKI/CA or SPIFFE/SPIRE concepts
- Working understanding of traffic resilience & performance: timeouts, retries, backoff, circuit breaking, rate limiting, failure isolation, latency and saturation analysis
- Experience with developer connectivity abstractions: K8s CRDs/operators, guardrails (admission, lint, simulation) and automated tests

The Role
You will be responsible for simulating and verifying the software used to fly and orchestrate the behavior of some of the largest satellites that have ever been flown, using both hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop testing. Where needed, you will be able to step into different parts of the software stack to drive solutions end-to-end and even make changes to vehicle control software.
In your first 6 months you will generalize simulation software architecture to allow testing and designing multiple spacecraft, demonstrating robust performance in demanding missions. In your first year you will design many-agent simulations and design tools for operating entire constellations of satellites, informing critical company decisions.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain simulation software infrastructure for our 20kW+ spacecraft
- Develop physics-based software models of spacecraft subsystems, including propulsion, attitude control, power, and communications systems.
- Perform analyses of constellation capabilities and performance to support business and engineering decisions, including network coverage and beam planning.
- Create and utilize robust tools to allow for rapid deployment of quality code.
- Perform data analysis and anomaly investigation to identify and resolve on-orbit problems.
- Support integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in physics, aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering, computer science, math, or a STEM field or 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering or relevant professions
- Development experience in Rust, C++, or similar compiled language

The Role
The software team at K2 is building our stack primarily in Rust because we believe modern programming languages should be fun, as well as correct. We see Rust as a key enabling technology that allows us to be more effective as software engineers across the entire stack whether that is contributing to the GNC algorithms, application software on flight computers, embedded software on microcontrollers, and many things in-between.
As a part of the team, you will be responsible for the development and verification of the software used to fly some of the largest spacecraft that have ever been flown. You will be able to write mission-critical code that controls propulsion systems, attitude control systems, and power systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of the vehicle. In your first 6 months you will develop core pieces of the software architecture including the strategies for fault tolerance, real-time control, and telemetry downlink. In your first year you will implement larger software systems and begin verifying your code using both software and hardware in the loop simulators. In your first two years you will operate your code on multiple spacecraft, demonstrating robust performance in demanding missions.

Role Overview:
- Own software and computer-system integration for radar platforms and test environments, with a focus on system bring-up, configuration validation, deployment readiness, and root-cause debug
- Act as the Integration and Test team's primary systems-focused engineer for Linux, networking, platform configuration, and software deployment workflows
- Support lab, production, and field integration efforts by ensuring radar systems, support equipment, and test infrastructure are configured correctly and can be debugged quickly when issues arise
Responsibilities:
- Lead software and platform bring-up activities for radar systems, support equipment, and test racks
- Validate end-to-end system configuration across BIOS, storage, Linux services, networking, time sync, container/runtime environments, and deployment tooling
- Troubleshoot and root-cause integration failures involving system configuration, operating system setup, services, permissions, network connectivity, routing, switch configuration, and software deployment
- Debug issues such as incorrect BIOS settings, RAID misconfiguration, Linux service failures, Docker context or permission issues, Azure CLI setup problems, and broken software deployment pipelines
- Own configuration and validation of Linux timing and synchronization services, including chrony, linuxptp, timemaster and related system dependencies
- Support deployment and validation of software configuration stacks, including templated/config-as-code workflows such as Jsonnet-based builds
- Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 networking for lab and system test environments, including host networking, VLANs, routing, firewall rules, and managed switch setup
- Stand up and maintain new test racks and STE environments, including computer systems, networking hardware, timing hardware, and test support infrastructure
- Develop scripts, tools, checklists, and automated validation workflows to quickly identify incorrect system configuration before formal test execution
- Partner with systems, software, firmware, RF, and hardware engineers to isolate faults across subsystem boundaries and drive issues to closure
- Help design, implement, and execute automated test workflows for radar and RF system verification
- Develop and maintain automated UI/end-to-end tests for the radar's on-device web interfaces — exercising all pages and components after software deployment to validate that the UI renders correctly, controls behave as expected, and data flows through to the backend (e.g., browser-driven test frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress)
- Develop and document repeatable integration procedures, debug guides, and test instructions so technicians and engineers can perform setup and troubleshooting consistently
- Support lab and field test events as needed to ensure radar systems are ready for execution and data collection
- Work 4-5 days per week out of our office in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of experience in systems integration, software integration, test engineering, site reliability, DevOps, lab infrastructure, or a similar technical role on complex hardware/software systems
- Experience with scripting or programming for automation, test, or diagnostics using Python, Bash, or similar languages
- Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting experience in Ubuntu or similar Linux environments
- Experience configuring and debugging Linux services, startup behavior, permissions, users/groups, package dependencies, logs, and system-level networking
- Experience troubleshooting computer system bring-up and platform configuration, including BIOS settings, storage/RAID setup, hardware interfaces, and operating system installation/configuration
- Experience with computer networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, routing, subnetting, VLANs, DNS, firewalls, and managed switch configuration
- Experience debugging complex technical issues methodically using logs, command-line tools, packet captures, service status, and system telemetry
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, test procedures, and debug workflows
- Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to work across hardware and software boundaries
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience supporting integration and test for radar systems, RF systems, aerospace systems, defense systems, or other complex electromechanical platforms
- Experience using and configuring RF test equipment or supporting RF verification in lab environments
