The role in a nutshell:

We are looking for an experienced and professional Payroll Manager who will be responsible for the full payroll cycle, payroll procedures and payments for all regional entities at Luno. You will be part of an amazing People Operations team.

Your mission will be:

• Take full responsibility and partner with the Finance team to distribute salary payments for employees in all regions in accordance with the payroll calendar.
• Keeping 3rd Party Payroll Providers accountable for Regional Payroll updates and accurate payroll cycles according to agreed service levels.
• Annual review of Third Party Service Level Agreements
• Ensure all Statutory Bodies are compliant, ie, SARS, COIDA, HMRC, LHDM, PIT,  etc. 
• Ensure that Payroll Policies and Standard Operating Procedures are regularly reviewed and updated with real time changes.
• Ensure our in-house payroll procedures and outputs are ‘audit ready’ as well as updated, maintained and followed. 
• Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and tax obligations in all regions in which Luno operates. 
• Manage and maintain the payroll systems and governance and ensure salary payments, expenses, taxes and benefits are paid correctly and on time. 
• Main point of contact for Payroll queries  

A little about you:

• A proven track record of managing a highly effective Payroll function and a working knowledge of the statutory requirements affecting salaries on a Global scale
• Previous Payroll exposure within the UK and/or South East Asian markets will be advantageous. 
• Have managed a payroll headcount of 500+ across various locations.
• Experience in managing EOR (Employer on Record) Payroll Providers 
• 7 + years specialised payroll experience. 
• 5 + years of PaySpace experience.
• 3 + years Project Management experience
• A tertiary qualification in Finance/Accountancy/Payroll will be an advantage
• Solid financial acumen and knowledge of payroll/ accounting software
• Ability to interpret and to reconcile complex financial data.
• Demonstrable knowledge of current legislation with regards to pay conditions and the tax treatment of fringe benefits globally.

Role Purpose 

Your mission is to identify, pitch, and close new direct B2B accounts within your local market. You are a high-activity hunter focused on remittance companies, professional traders, family offices, and corporate treasuries. Success in this role is measured by the volume of new institutional clients you onboard and the revenue they generate in their first 90 days. 

Key responsibilities

1. Local Market Prospecting & Hunting

• Proactively identify and engage high-potential B2B prospects in the local market, including remittance companies, professional trading firms, family offices, and corporate treasurers. 
• Execute a high-volume outreach strategy (calls, meetings, and networking) to maintain a healthy and active pipeline of prospective direct clients.
• Qualify local inbound leads to ensure your time is spent on entities with significant trading volume and immediate intent. 

2. Sales Execution & Deal Closing

• Deliver professional, technical sales presentations and proposals that clearly articulate Luno’s value proposition, liquidity depth, and institutional-grade security. 
• Lead the end-to-end sales process from first contact to signed agreement, ensuring that commercial terms are met and prospects are successfully converted into active users.
• Work closely with local onboarding and compliance teams to ensure new accounts are activated and execute their "first trade" as quickly as possible. 

3. Market Connectivity & Brand Presence

• Build and leverage a deep network within the local financial and digital asset ecosystem to generate referrals and build brand authority.
• Represent the company at local industry conferences and networking events to feed the top-of-funnel pipeline and keep a pulse on competitor activity.
• Partner with the local Country Manager to turn their high-level networking and "VIP" leads into closed-won B2B accounts.

4. Reporting & Commercial Discipline

• Maintain a rigorous, weighted pipeline (based on Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) or volume estimates) to provide the Head of Sales with high-confidence projections for upcoming months.
• Provide the Head of Sales with "on-the-ground" feedback regarding local competitor pricing, product gaps, and shifting customer sentiment to help refine the local sales and product strategy.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Business Development Manager:

• New Account Activations: Number of newly onboarded and "activated" (first trade) B2B entities per month.
• Weighted Pipeline Value: Total MRR/Volume value of the pipeline based on probability stages.
• Actual vs. Forecast Variance: Ability to achieve the specific targets set in the previous month's report.

About the team:

The role in a nutshell:

• You will form part of our Treasury team, supporting all cash and liquidity related needs powering Luno’s business.

• Process Automation and Support:
• Drive automation of key treasury processes supporting our various products
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to actively support new product launches and enhancements.
• Relationship Management and Expansion:
• Liaise with existing and new bank and payment providers to ensure smooth operations.
• Support business expansion into new countries by establishing relationships with relevant financial partners.
• Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
• Oversee annual KYC refreshers for existing banking and liquidity partners.
• Lead the onboarding process for new partners while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Create, update and or monitor Treasury operational policies; establish and manage compliance and controls for Treasury operations and support internal and external audit requirements.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline. Advanced degree in a related area preferred (CA(SA) or CIMA/CGMA preferred)
• 4-5 years of work experience within a Finance or Treasury function
• Experience with on-chain treasury operations and/or crypto custody frameworks
• Familiarity with exchange/liquidity provider liquidity and settlement flows
• Ability to interact, influence and build relationships at all levels of seniority and across all functions within an organisation.
• Must be a self-starter, a strong team player, have attention to detail, take ownership of initiatives, possess strong prioritisation and organisation skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects simultaneously.

A little about you:

• A relevant university degree from a recognised tertiary institution;

The role in a nutshell:

You will form part of the Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) Operations team based in South Africa, and you will report to the AML Operations Manager. Our AML Operations team looks after our global business and consists of a growing team of enthusiastic, energetic Lunauts. You will work in a fast paced environment, collaborating with other business units, including Customer Support, Onboarding, Engineering, Product and Legal teams, servicing the business on an international level together with the teams from Africa, Asia Pacific and Europe.

About the team: 

The AML Operations team takes care of the operational aspects of financial crime risk identification matters for Luno's global business. Our mission is to create a world class compliance experience for Luno as well as our customers. We make sure we have the processes and information available that enable us to truly understand our customer risk, we monitor for any external red flags customers may raise when they use Luno and we deal with any questions our business or customers may have on what good looks like. We operate in regional teams around the world with our central team in South Africa.

Your mission will involve: 

• Management and oversight of the Screening Team on all functional and people management aspects;
• Managing and supervising Screening Team members, including:
• providing guidance on execution of functional duties and as required, become actively involved to meet schedules and resolve problems;
• supporting personal development;
• building relationships with and between team members, set expectations, define and delegate tasks and help remove obstacles;
• Managing team member onboarding and role based training;
• Conducts regular 1-1s with team members and raise performance matters with key stakeholders;
• Maintain open lines of communication with team members, including on priorities, policy and processes;
• Managing all aspects of customer screening and the outcomes thereof in respect of:
• sanctions, adverse media and political exposure; 
• private watch lists;
• geolocation and geofencing; 
• perform a QA function and
• any other AML risk identifiers and typologies as appropriate;
• Management, fine tuning and reporting on screening rules, thresholds and outcomes;
• Governance and reporting in respect of team performance, progress tracking, service level agreements, key risk indicators and operational metrics;
• Oversight over the drafting and, where appropriate, filing of regulatory reports and responding to regulatory requests;
• Establishing processes for, review of and managing of quality assurance; 
• Drafting and implementing standard operating procedures, including in respect of account closures, exits and the unverifying of customer accounts, and guidance to ensure compliance with regulations;
• Coordination and management of senior management approvals;
• Creating, implementing and managing role based training;
• Collaborate with AML Operations Manager in developing, planning and managing the Screening Team’s operational plans and strategic goals, including in relation to Smart Goals;
• Collaborating with the wider Anti-Financial Crime team to support ongoing investigations, queries and analytics;
• Supporting the AML Operations Manager in the planning and oversight of day to day team tasks;
• Working with the Compliance Advisory team to ensure that our operations are regulatory compliant and manage the implementation of new regulations or changes to existing regulations;
• External and internal stakeholder management in conjunction with the AML Operations Manager and Head of Anti-Financial Crime;
• Supporting external and internal compliance audits; 
• Supporting Luno’s compliance efforts across multiple geographies; and
• Supporting the business with AML operations related queries, including triaging received queries and resolution of questions pertaining to Luno’s compliance procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree or diploma from a recognised tertiary institution
• A minimum of 5 years work experience in an Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorist Financing related field
• Strong analytical mindset 
• Ability to adapt within a fast-paced environment

The Role - What will you be doing? 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Join a rapidly growing team to help BCB build and scale our products and deliver them to clients.
• Use your software engineering skills to develop, test, release, support and maintain complex financial platforms. Our backend is written in Node driven by SQL databases and our front-end uses the Angular framework. All our services run in google cloud in Kubernetes.
• Work closely with product managers to focus on new feature design, build and ship scalable products.

• 5+ Years Experience in software engineering.
• Experience working with microservices and distributed systems architecture.
• Expert proficiency in server-side development.
• Proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message queuing systems, ideally Google Pub/Sub, Kafka.
• Experience with Node.JS and server frameworks, ideally NestJS.
• High level expertise in SQL development and database programming: MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Good working knowledge of front-end frameworks, ideally Angular.
