About the Role

The Director of Pricing Strategy is a senior, cross-functional leadership role responsible for owning the full lifecycle of freight pricing, from bid strategy and RFP response through programmatic API-based quoting and real-time margin management. This role sits at the intersection of commercial, data, and technology and serves as the company's authoritative voice on rate strategy, market intelligence, and pricing model architecture.

The ideal candidate combines deep freight industry fluency with hands-on analytical capability and technical literacy to collaborate directly with data science and engineering teams. This is a player-coach role with a mandate to build scalable pricing infrastructure that supports both reactive bid work and proactive revenue optimization.

Core Responsibilities

Bid Management & Commercial Pricing

• Own end-to-end RFP and bid pricing strategy, setting floor/ceiling logic by lane, mode, and customer segment
• Partner with Sales to develop winning bid packages that balance competitiveness with margin integrity
• Build and maintain carrier cost models that feed bid pricing, incorporating fuel, accessorials, and capacity conditions
• Establish pricing governance, approvals, exception handling, and escalation paths for non-standard deals

Market Intelligence & Rate Analytics

• Monitor and synthesize external freight indices, including DAT spot rates, Cass Freight Index, EIA diesel prices, and BLS wage data
• Translate external market signals into actionable pricing adjustments; communicate trends to Sales and Operations leadership
• Maintain competitive rate benchmarks across key lanes and customer verticals
• Develop and maintain a freight cost and revenue forecasting model covering a 2–3-year history, 6–12-month trend direction, and 30–60-day live calibration layers

API & Programmatic Pricing

• Manage integrations with market cost APIs, spot market data feeds, and TMS pricing modules
• Define the business rules and model logic that drive automated quoting and real-time rate responses
• Own the requirements and business logic for any AI-assisted pricing tools or forecasting models built internally

P&L Visibility & Margin Management

• Track cost vs. revenue performance at the load, lane, and customer level
• Partner with Finance to develop pricing-related reporting within the data platform (SQL Server, Databricks)
• Establish margin policies and alert mechanisms for loads trending below threshold

Strategy & Leadership

• Serve as a strategic advisor on pricing positioning, market conditions, and competitive dynamics
• Represent pricing strategy in client-facing meetings, QBRs, and partnership discussions
• Define and report on a monthly pricing performance scorecard for leadership
• Evaluate and recommend third-party tools, data subscriptions, and technology investments that strengthen the pricing function

Qualifications

Required

• 7+ years of experience in freight pricing, rate analysis, or commercial strategy within a 3PL, brokerage, or asset-based carrier
• Deep knowledge of TL and LTL pricing mechanics
• Strong analytical skills; comfortable working in SQL, Excel, or BI tools to build and validate pricing models
• Track record of collaborating directly with sales, operations, and technology teams in a cross-functional capacity
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex pricing analysis into an executive-ready narrative

Preferred

• Experience with freight data platforms or indices (DAT, Cass, Greenscreens, FreightWaves SONAR)
• Familiarity with Databricks, Sigma, or similar modern data stack tools
• Exposure to machine learning or statistical forecasting models applied to freight pricing
• Experience in a TMS environment (TMW, McLeod, MercuryGate, or similar)

The Role 

We're looking for a customer-centric Senior AI Engineer to join our Team. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, and delivering LLM-powered capabilities within client applications. You'll work across the full lifecycle of AI-enabled solutions—from proof of concept through production—while contributing to the growth of AI engineering practices across E-gineering. 

What You'll Do 

AI Solution Engineering 

You'll design and implement LLM-powered features and systems within client applications. This includes building and optimizing RAG pipelines, designing and orchestrating agentic workflows, integrating tool use and external services via protocols such as MCP, and selecting the right models and architectures for the task. You should be comfortable working across the stack—connecting LLM capabilities to real application code, APIs, data stores, and user experiences. 

Evaluations and Quality 

Shipping AI features responsibly means knowing whether they actually work. You'll design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure LLM output quality, build regression and benchmark suites, and establish feedback loops that drive iteration. You should bring an engineering mindset to a space where "it seems to work" isn't good enough. 

Client Delivery 

As a consultant, you'll be embedded on client teams to deliver AI-powered solutions. This means understanding client business problems, translating them into technical approaches, and building production-quality software. You should be comfortable leading technical discussions, participating in discovery and pre-sales conversations, and mentoring client and E-gineering developers on AI engineering practices as part of delivery. 

Data Readiness 

Production AI systems are only as good as the data behind them. You'll assess client data readiness during discovery, design and build data ingestion and processing pipelines for AI systems, and ensure solutions operate within client governance frameworks. This includes working with sensitive and regulated data, understanding data lineage and access controls, and making sound decisions about what data flows where—particularly when third-party model APIs are involved. 

Internal Capability Building 

You'll contribute to E-gineering's growing AI engineering practice by sharing what you learn in the field—whether that's reusable patterns, starter kits, evaluation tooling, or lessons learned. You'll help teammates level up through pairing, code reviews, and informal knowledge sharing. 

What We're Looking For 

Must-Have Qualifications 

• Must reside in the Greater Indianapolis area and can work on-site regularly (this role is not open to fully remote or relocating candidates)
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with strong fundamentals in at least one modern language and ecosystem 

• 1+ years of hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications (RAG, agents, tool use, prompt engineering—not just using chat interfaces) 

• Practical experience with agent frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar) and orchestration patterns 

• Experience designing and implementing evaluation strategies for LLM systems 

• Solid understanding of API design, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure as they relate to AI-enabled applications

• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences 

Preferred Skills 

• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar tool-integration patterns 

• Familiarity with vector databases and embedding strategies for retrieval systems

What You'll Do

• Architect and lead the design of scalable, high-performance systems across our full stack using TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and React
• Drive technical strategy — evaluate tradeoffs, establish patterns, and make foundational decisions that will shape the platform for years to come
• Own complex, ambiguous problems end-to-end, from discovery through delivery, with minimal direction
• Design and build data infrastructure — data pipelines, warehousing solutions, and the data models that power product analytics and customer insights
• Develop and integrate ML-powered features where applicable, including model evaluation, feature engineering, and productionizing models at scale (strong plus)

What You'll Need

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of leading technical initiatives on high-performing teams
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React, Vu, and/or Python; strong ability to ramp quickly on new technologies as the stack evolves
• Demonstrated experience architecting and operating distributed systems, microservices, and REST APIs at scale
• Strong hands-on experience with Cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud), including infrastructure design and cost-conscious scaling
• Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with relational database design, query optimization, and schema evolution
• Experience with data warehousing and data pipeline development (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow) — strong plus
• Exposure to machine learning workflows — feature engineering, model serving, or MLOps — in a production environment (strong plus)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders in a remote-first environment
• A strong testing discipline, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies

The Tech Lead, Software Engineering, is an integral part of the Product and Software Engineering organization at Remodel Health! You will enjoy working at the intersection of technology, the healthcare industry, customer success (both internal and external), product management and software architecture. You will directly manage a team of 5-7 Software Engineers (Jr through to Sr) in the development of software projects towards company goals. You will help define systems architecture as well as help define product roadmap. Most importantly you will manage the team and define and execute processes to ensure successful team execution. 

Tactical Level Execution 

• Full participant in the Product / Engineering Agile development framework; playing the role of Scrum Master for the team 
• Collaborate with Leadership, Engagement, Care, Finance, Marketing, DevSecOps, Product, Software Architecture and even external customers as needed to define and prioritize work items 
• Participate in software development to achieve sprint goals
• Ensure the creation of quality code development towards company work items (epics, stories, bugs) with the team 
• Validate feature requests or bugs with product management 
• Work with Product to keep the product backlog clean and accurate and prioritized ● Guide employee onboarding for your team 
• Team development activities like coordinating trainings, ongoing 1/1s and annual employee reviews
