What you'll do
The web team’s goal is to create phenomenal user experiences that inform and excite our visitors and ultimately convert them to users of our product. You’ll help build our brand and increase our user base by contributing in the following ways:
- Drive acquisition, onboarding, monetization, organic growth, and retention across New Relic’s web properties.
- Improve our Drupal architecture and automated testing - our site is live on Drupal 10, and feature velocity is increasing. You’ll ensure it is ready to scale to our needs.
- Participate in the design process, offering technical feedback and suggestions to the creative team, and helping us improve the process along the way.
- Formulate efficient content models, security models, workflows, and templates, and develop Drupal components and modules.
- Contribute to all of the technical aspects of New Relic's public web properties to improve customer experience and content authoring.
- Improve the reliability and speed to delivery of new features and iterations via A/B testing, operational insights, and deep understanding of the data behind user behavior on the site.
- Lead and contribute to the architecture and implementation decisions within the team.
- Identify blockers and work across teams to resolve issues.
This role requires
- Bachelor's or 6 years professional work experience
- 6+ years of full-stack development experience front end and back-end (i.e. HTML, CSS, Javascript/React, Node.js, MVC, MySQL, NoSQL, RESTful APIs)
- Strong expertise in Drupal 9/10 development.
- Solid understanding of PHP, Symfony, Twig, CSS, Git and JavaScript.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools and methodologies.
- Having a collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership.
- Fluency in English.
Bonus points if you have
- Familiarity with Figma, Tailwind CSS, Eleventy, and/or Svelte JS.
- Familiarity working at enterprise scale across several tech stacks and partner teams.
- Experience in technical mentorship and support for helping level-up the skills of colleagues on the team.

The pay range below represents a reasonable estimate of the salary for the listed position. This role is eligible for a corporate bonus plan. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related factors such as an applicant’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Lantern is looking for a Principal Engineer to join our fast-growing Member Experience team. In this role, you will lead the technical direction and ownership of our core member-facing platforms, including our web application, mobile app, and AI-driven chat features. You will be instrumental in architecting scalable solutions that enhance how our members interact with Lantern's services.
Location: Hybrid - at least 3 days/wk in one of our offices: Dallas, TX (preferred) / Chicago/Evanston / New York / Washington, DC
Current Tech Stack:
Web Platform: Angular and TypeScript, with an emphasis on scalable front-end architecture, reusable components, and strong member experience.
Mobile Platform: React Native for member-facing mobile experiences.
Backend and APIs: .NET / C# services that power core member workflows and integrations.
Styling and UI: Tailwind CSS and NativeWind for consistent, modern interface development.
Cloud Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure for cloud services, hosting, integration, and operational support.
Responsibilities:
- Platform Ownership: Lead the development and end-to-end ownership of member-facing web, mobile, and AI chatbot experiences.
- Architectural Leadership: Define and maintain technical standards for front-end architecture, shared patterns, performance, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.
- Cross-Platform Integration: Drive a pragmatic strategy for reusable business logic, design consistency, and seamless experiences across web and mobile platforms where it adds value.
- Backend and Cloud Collaboration: Partner closely with engineers working in .NET / C# and Microsoft Azure to deliver secure, reliable, observable, and scalable solutions.
- AI and Member Experience: Help shape AI-enabled chat and support capabilities that improve navigation, engagement, and service for Lantern members.
- Mentorship: Act as a technical pillar for the engineering organization by mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and guiding complex implementation decisions.
Requirements:
- Work Experience: Extensive years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with at least 2+ years operating at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leadership level in product-focused environments.
- Front-End Expertise: Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, and modern front-end architecture, with the ability to operate effectively in environments that also include Angular.
- Mobile Expertise: Proven experience building and supporting production-grade applications using React Native.
- Backend and Cloud Fluency: Strong experience partnering with backend teams working in .NET / C# or Node.js and building solutions that run on Microsoft Azure.
- Design Systems and UI: Hands-on familiarity with Tailwind CSS and/or NativeWind, reusable component patterns, and high-quality user experience implementation.
- Preferred Skills: Experience building or integrating AI / LLM-powered product features such as chat, guided workflows, copilots, or search-driven experiences.
- Domain and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across engineering, product, design, and business stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

We’re looking for an experienced web leader to help set the global strategic vision and development of our web presence. This role will lead a team of global strategic web producers, strategists, and engineers - driving high-level strategy and technical execution across our web presence.
What you'll do
- Oversee and manage the team responsible for New Relic’s web presence.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive website strategy and roadmap for newrelic.com aligned with business goals and user needs - including optimization and digital experience enhancement, etc.
- Oversee development team (internal developers and/or external agencies) in building and maintaining the website. (Global teams: US and IST)
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. Product, Creative, Data Analytics, Regional teams, etc.) to align web strategy with broader marketing and business initiatives.
- Work closely with in-house UX teams to analyze user behavior, website analytics, and conversion data to identify optimization opportunities.
- Drive our CRO program to create optimization roadmaps and lead A/B testing and user experience research to improve site performance.
- Scale our GEO/AEO strategy and execution across our website as well as referral sites.
- Oversee the technical architecture, platform selection, and technology stack.
- Monitor and report on key website metrics including traffic, engagement, conversion rates, and ROI - utilizing analytics tools (Google Analytics, heatmapping tools, etc.) to drive data-driven decisions.
- Create comprehensive performance dashboards and regular reporting for stakeholders.
This role requires
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- 7-10+ years of experience in digital marketing, web strategy, or related roles
- Strong analytical skills with experience using web analytics platforms
- Understanding of SEO, SEM, and digital marketing best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives
- Experience leading web application development teams to deliver against KPIs at scale.
- Solid understanding of CSS, Git and JavaScript.
- Documented, hands-on experience planning multi-quarter roadmaps for high visibility B2B websites
- Extensive experience planning and managing against concrete business performance objectives in a product-led software business
- Having a collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership.
- Experience with content management systems and web technologies
- Fluency in English.
