ABOUT THE ROLE:
As an Engineering Manager at Tide,
- You’re an experienced Engineering Manager with strong technical and people-leadership skills, comfortable operating at scale and driving impact through well-designed platforms.
- You’ll lead the engineering delivery of our subscriptions platform across multiple markets, owning the technical direction and execution of systems that power subscription creation, pricing, lifecycle managements. You’ll focus on building scalable, resilient, and extensible platform capabilities that support growth and evolving business needs.
- You’ll manage and develop a team of engineers, setting clear technical standards and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Partnering closely with Product and stakeholders across the business, you’ll turn product strategy into reliable platform solutions and ensure high-quality delivery across the full subscription lifecycle.
- You’ll be part of the Member Engagement Marketing (MEM) engineering group, working closely with Billing, Payments, Marketing, Data, and Finance teams. Together, you’ll deliver a robust and transparent subscriptions platform that enables seamless member experiences and long-term value.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) building server-side applications and detailed knowledge of Java.
- Sound knowledge of a backend framework (e.g. Spring/Spring Boot)
- Experience with running microservices and implementing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience engineering scalable and reliable solutions in a cloud-native environment
- A mindset of delivering secure, well-tested and well-documented software
- Full ownership of your code and technical solutions across their entire lifecycle, from development to production.
- Experience integrating with various third party providers and partners
- Sound knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
- Work effectively in an agile environment, using its practices to deliver value consistently and adapt quickly.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Apply continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices in day-to-day development to deliver software reliably to production.
- A technical hands on leader who is in the details of what the team is working on day to day.
- Experience leading teams
- Experience directly managing people.
OUR TECH STACK:
- Java, Spring Boot and JOOQ to build the RESTful APIs of our microservices (but we welcome people who are used to any strongly typed general purpose programming language!)
- Event-driven architecture with messages over SNS+SQS and Kafka to make them reliable
- Primary datastores are PostgreSQL via RDS or Aurora (we are heavy AWS users)
- Docker, Terraform, ArgoCD and, EKS provided by the Cloud team to run the platform
- DataDog for monitoring, observability and automated SLOs
- GitHub, Semgrep and solid testing to power the CI/CD pipelines - new joiners are encouraged to have something deployed to production in their first week
- Angular on Web, Flutter for our mobile app, but from time to time we use Swift and Kotlin
- Fivetran/BigQuery/Looker for the BI insights and Python/FastAPI/Faust + some ML libs for the automated decisioning and risk management

The Opportunity:
Definian is hiring experienced Senior Software Engineers (Python) to join our growing team in Hyderabad, India.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build new tools from scratch. You'll be working on the Definian Data Platform (DDP), our suite of internal tools that accelerate consulting delivery, as well as utilities and AI integrations that power our operations. Unlike maintaining legacy systems, this is greenfield development – you'll be creating new capabilities, not inheriting technical debt.
The DDP includes tools for code generation, data mapping, data lineage visualization, and an AI-powered coding assistant. You'll work with modern Python, cloud services, and AI/LLM APIs to build tools that make our consultants more effective and our delivery faster.
You'll be one of the first engineers on our India team, which means your contributions will be visible and your ideas will shape what we build. This isn't a role where you'll be executing someone else's detailed specifications – you'll collaborate with our India-based Software Architect and US technical leadership to define solutions and build them.
We are an AI-forward organization that embraces tools like Claude and Claude Code to accelerate development. You'll leverage these tools daily, and you'll be building systems that integrate with AI/LLM APIs – so your work will be at the intersection of development and AI.

What You'll Be Doing
- Design and build new tools for the Definian Data Platform using Python
- Develop REST APIs and web services using FastAPI, Flask, or Django
- Integrate with AI/LLM APIs to build intelligent features
- Leverage Claude and Claude Code to accelerate development workflows and solve complex problems efficiently
- Build data processing pipelines and automation tools
- Write clean, testable, well-documented code that others can maintain
- Participate in code reviews – both giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Collaborate with the Software Architect to define and implement solutions
- Work with databases (PostgreSQL, SQL) to store and retrieve data efficiently
- Contribute to improving development processes, testing practices, and documentation
- Communicate effectively with US-based team members across time zones
- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and daily standups

What You'll Bring to the Team
Required
- 4-6 years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python (3.8+)
- Experience with web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django)
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
- Experience with version control (Git)
- Strong communication skills – ability to work effectively with team members across time zones
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment (4 days in Hyderabad office)
- Graduate in Engineering or Bachelor of Science
Preferred Qualifications

What you’ll do:
- Collaborate closely with scientists, researchers, and designers to deliver robust web applications that meet business and product goals
- Design and implement scalable RESTful APIs and microservices to handle complex scientific workflows
- Build responsive and interactive front-end interfaces to visualize multi-dimensional scientific data
- Participate in a code reviewing environment that encourages learning, high code quality, and security best practices
- Help architect systems that bridge the gap between heavy computational backends and user-facing applications
What you should have:
- Proficiency in Python web frameworks (Django, FastAPI, or Flask)
- 1 to 2 years of strong experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks (React is preferred)

About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Fluxon, you'll have the opportunity to bring products to market while learning, contributing, and growing with our team.
