Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. It's a critical role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of product and infrastructure, thinks strategically, and is passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope to get faster feedback from customers, navigate the integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK
• Optimize existing functionality to ship things like faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and improving our algorithms
• Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin

Overview

The responsibilities of our Platform team include building and maintaining all backend services, including, but not limited to, payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text to speech, and external APIs.

This is a key role and ideal for someone who thinks strategically, enjoys fast-paced environments, is passionate about making product decisions, and has experience building great user experiences that delight users.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API, internal APIs like Payment, Subscription, Auth and Consumption Tracking, ensuring they meet business and scalability requirements
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
• Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• Proven experience in backend development: TS/Node (required)
• Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
• Efficiency in ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact
• Preferred: Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
• Preferred: Proficiency in deploying high availability applications on Kubernetes

Job Description

Astera labs is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Scientist. This individual will play a pivotal role in identifying key data points for collection, developing strategies to accumulate data and deriving actionable insights an anomaly based on a solid foundation of relevant know-how. Also, will also be responsible for creating, testing, and deploying scripts and methods for data collection and analysis to support decision-making. The Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify critical data sources to determine the most effective data collection strategies, will develop automated and scalable data collection pipelines, will ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all sources and may use AI techniques to refine the results toward failures predictions.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Advanced degrees in data science or Machine learning / AI - Advance.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
• Strong understanding of data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SQL).
• Understanding of high speed interfaces such as Ethernet, PCI-E , WiFi.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Matplotlib, Graphana.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly optimized GPU-accelerated ML inference systems using CUDA and low-level parallelism techniques
• Optimize memory, compute, and data flow to meet real-time or high-throughput constraints
• Improve the performance, reliability, and observability of our inference backend across diverse compute targets (CPU/GPU)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including researchers, developers, and designers) to deliver efficient and scalable inference solutions
• Contribute to ComfyUI and internal infrastructure to improve the usability and performance of model execution flows
• Investigate performance bottlenecks at all levels of the stack—from Python to kernel-level execution
• Navigate and enhance a large, complex, production-grade codebase
• Drive innovation in low-level system design to support future ML workloads

Your Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in high-performance software engineering
• Advanced proficiency in CUDA, C/C++, and Python, especially in production environments
• Deep understanding of GPU architecture, memory hierarchies, and optimization techniques
• Proven track record of optimizing compute-intensive systems
• Strong system architecture fundamentals, especially around performance, concurrency, and parallelism
