As a Backend Software Engineer in the Applications Team, you will help build and maintain the backend services that power Sparetech’s customer-facing web application. Principal Quality Engineer
Role Summary
As Principal Quality Engineer based in Aachen, you are the technical authority for quality across our optical product line and regional quality lead for European operations. You will bridge HQ (San Jose) and the Aachen manufacturing site, drive quality integration for in-house optical manufacturing, lead supplier quality for regional semiconductor and optical vendors, and support Asia-based RMA activities for in-region products.
Key Responsibilities
Quality‑System Integration: Lead ISO 9001 alignment between San Jose HQ, Aachen, and other regional locations to harmonize procedures, audit schedules, and corrective action processes across both semiconductor and optical product lines.
Process Development & Implementation: Design, document, and roll out new quality processes, procedures, and work instructions needed to support emerging photonics products and manufacturing capabilities.
In‑Process Inspection & Controls: Oversee in‑process inspection activities for the in‑house manufacturing operation, establishing SPC, go/no‑go checkpoints, and real‑time defect‑tracking dashboards.
Supplier Quality (Optics): Provide technical support and quality assurance for optical‑component and optical‑coating suppliers; conduct supplier audits, and drive corrective‑preventive actions (CAPA).
Supplier Quality (Semiconductor): Serve as the regional point of contact for semiconductor suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, assisting with supplier audits, and leading issue resolution.
Product Quality: Core Semiconductor Business – Lead technical investigation of field returns, warranty claims, and reliability failures for semiconductor and optical products; coordinate 8D root-cause analysis and interface with Field Application Engineers (FAEs).
Cross‑Site Liaison: Act as the primary conduit between the Aachen site, other European/EMEA sites, and the San Jose HQ for quality information exchange, escalation handling, and best‑practice sharing.
Metrics & Reporting: Define, track, and report key quality KPIs (PPM, DPMO, warranty cost, MTBF, supplier defect rate, etc.) to senior leadership across the BU and corporate HQ.

About the Role:
The Space Operations team is crucial to Planet's success, responsible for maintaining and optimizing the health and productivity of the world's largest Earth Observation satellite constellation. Our team spans North America and Berlin. Given the scale of our fleet, automation is at the heart of our operations. The Role
The Electronics Design Engineer will be a member of the hardware team delivering low‑noise, high‑frequency mixed‑signal control and instrumentation for our QKD systems. The role spans end‑to‑end board design in Altium (schematics, layout, DFM/DFT), precision analog signal chains, prototype bring‑up/validation, and, where needed, STM32 (F4/H7) firmware in C for control, calibration, and integration. About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Calibration and Validation (CalVal) team, you will be a key contributor to the integrity and evolution of our geometric models. About the Role
You will be part of a highly collaborative product team working at the core of our manufacturing facility, transforming digital models into physical elements at scale.
Product Teams at GROPYUS own what they build, including underlying infrastructure, build pipelines, automated testing, release and rollout management, monitoring, and support. You will bring your experience in working with PLCs and/or other OT systems like e.g. robots, into the team.
As a Software Engineer (PLC / OT), you will work with your team on evolving the rather traditional architecture of MES like systems integrating via OPC-UA with PLCs into a future-proof architecture built with Software Defined Manufacturing in mind. You should be looking forward to developing less PLC / OT code over time and building a solution that allows for full simulation of upcoming manufacturing orders.
Furthermore, our teams are also responsible for operating and troubleshooting the software they have developed during working hours of the factory.

About the Role:
The Manufacturing Test Engineering Team is responsible for creating and maintaining the tests and infrastructure for our satellite manufacturing operations. The hardware test engineers on our team tackle projects large and small to design and build software and hardware to automate functional & integration testing, instrument calibration, and qualification testing for both production and design validation. As a member of the Manufacturing Test Engineering team, you will collaborate with design engineers to develop board-level tests and be responsible for designing and developing the test fixtures, test hardware, and test software. This will involve working with a broad variety of disciplines, including our top-notch design, qualification, and manufacturing teams.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in our Berlin Manufacturing Center 5 days a week.
