Project Description
The project focuses on improving a core API platform for automated loan decisioning. The system is built with PHP and is being enhanced and modernized to improve scalability, performance, and automation.

Job Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in software development;
- Strong experience with PHP;

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;

The Challenge
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for solving problems to join our agile AI Governance team at OneTrust. Senior Software Engineers are responsible for developing, contributing to decisions related to design and architecture of new frontend and/or backend features while supporting existing development efforts for our industry-leading platform.
Your Mission
Development
- Support development of Java microservices/Libraries while integrating with various AI platforms for OneTrust’s AI Governance product, designing, development, and unit testing of applications deployed to MS Azure with cloud application architecture using Core Java, REST, and the Spring ecosystem
- Support development of web interfaces for product module or new prototypes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript and/or the designing, development
- Achieve at least 80% code coverage or per the revised standards set by the team
Collaboration
- Work closely with UX, Product Managers and/or Product Owners, as well as other developers to contribute to planning and grooming sessions and drive team’s discussions on system architecture and component design.
- Support the team to ensure all committed stories for the sprint are completed per the sprint goal
Support
- Work toward reducing total number of defects in the module/product to industry standards by catching and fixing issues early in development.
- Ensure critical and high priority CII’s are delivered per SLA.
Code Review
- Conduct peer reviews to improve code quality.
- Help junior developers follow development testing, exploratory testing, AI testing and/or test automation.
Lead
- Help build high-performing teams by mentoring the team on new technical skills.
You Are
A self-learner who is open to new technologies, processes, or techniques to improve your ability to deliver high-quality software. Someone who asks questions to clarify gaps in understanding.
Your Experience Includes
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical or business field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering/development experience
- Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE, Design Patterns, Spring MVC, SQL, Web services.
- Deep expertise with modern frameworks (Angular, React, TypeScript) and largescale frontend architecture.
- Good understanding of web services and SOA related standards like REST/OAuth/JSON.
- Moderate understanding of code and script (Python, Bash)
- Good experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Agile development (Scrum, XP, or Pair Programming) experience
- Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services.
- Familiarity with public cloud providers such as (Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS)
Extra Awesome
- Proven experience building production-grade agentic AI systems with robust tool-use, guardrails, and observability for enterprise-scale workloads.
- Working experience with one or more AI platforms like Amazon SageMaker, Google Vertex, AWS Bedrock etc.
- Familiarity with different databases (Relational and document) is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, such as Jenkins.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, including cluster deployment, scaling, and management is highly desirable.

The Challenge
We are seeking a Principal Domain Architect who will define and drive the technical vision for AI-native and agentic systems across the platform. This role combines deep system architecture expertise, AI innovation, and strategic technology leadership to build scalable, reliable, and enterprise-grade solutions. The Principal Architect will work closely with Product, AI Platform teams, Architecture Guild, and engineering leadership to guide the design of complex distributed systems, influence the product roadmap, and drive the adoption of modern AI-native architectures across the organization. This leader is expected to identify emerging engineering advancements and translate them into strategic business opportunities, while improving engineering efficiency and technical excellence across products.
Your Mission
- Define and deliver architecture for AI-native agentic systems, enabling scalable and enterprise-grade multi-agent solutions.
- Create and evaluate failure mode scenarios for agentic workflows and incorporate architectural safeguards to ensure resilience and reliability.
- Provide deep expertise in LLM architectures, prompt engineering, RAG approaches, model selection, model training, LoRA knowledge, cost optimization, performance, security, and quality considerations.
- Drive technology transformation within the domain, enabling teams to adopt modern AI-native architectures and engineering practices.
- Stay current with rapid advancements in the agentic AI ecosystem, continuously evaluating emerging frameworks, tools, and architectural patterns.
- Champion technical exploration and spikes to test new ideas, validate feasibility, and guide long-term architectural decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the AI Platform team to influence platform capabilities and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Define metrics, evaluation frameworks, and observability standards for agentic systems.
- Provide architectural guidance and oversight to engineering squads, reviewing designs and co-creating solutions for complex initiatives.
- Act as a technology leader for the domain, influencing the Architecture Guild and driving best practices across engineering teams.
- Ensure teams adopt architecture governance standards and best practices.
- Champion technical controls and disciplined engineering practices to proactively manage architectural complexity and technical debt.
- Design and build high-performance distributed systems capable of supporting enterprise workloads.
- Recognize industry trends and proactively influence the product and engineering roadmap.

Architecture Leadership
- Design large-scale distributed systems and AI-powered architectures that support multiple products and integrations.
- Create and maintain architecture models, system diagrams, and technical design documentation covering current and future state architecture.
- Conceive and evolve product and service architectures ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure systems are designed for high availability, performance, and ease of operations.
Strategic Technology Leadership
- Contribute to company-level engineering strategy and evaluate the business impact of emerging technologies.
- Lead engineering initiatives to improve platform capabilities and engineering productivity.
- Participate in strategic programs that impact company-wide technical direction.
- Influence cross-organizational architecture decisions and collaborate with Director and VP level stakeholders.
Engineering Excellence
- Recommend technologies and frameworks that increase engineering productivity and system reliability.
- Oversee technical aspects of major initiatives and ensure high engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders to strengthen system design capabilities and engineering best practices.

Your Experience Includes

- Extensive experience with Java-based development using REST APIs, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures.
- Strong experience designing distributed, asynchronous, and event-driven architectures.
- Expertise building low-latency, high-throughput data pipelines and large-scale data platforms.
- Experience with data streaming and event processing technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, or Flink.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed algorithms, and system programming.
- Experience with fault-tolerant messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, AMQ, or ZeroMQ.
- Experience working with distributed data stores including MongoDB, Cassandra, CockroachDB, or CouchDB.
- Experience integrating applications with search platforms such as Elasticsearch or Solr.
- Proven experience mentoring engineers and building strong engineering practices.
- Strong ability to create and maintain architecture documentation and system design artifacts.

Over 12 months, you’ll be partnered with seasoned professionals, senior leadership and reliable mentors as you prepare to make an impact on the multifamily and health care CRE industry. Berkadia’s Rotational Analyst Program is changing the way the industry trains and develops CRE analysts around the many facets of the production business. As a Rotational Analyst, you’ll engage in a comprehensive onboarding experience where analysts will be introduced to:
- Berkadia’s culture;
- Client-facing business segments;
- Supporting groups and technologies;
- Berkadia employees, ranging from analysts through members of executive leadership
During the 12-month rotational program, you will have rotations in Mortgage Banking/Originations, Underwriting, Closing and Construction Management. You’ll play a critical role in executing and supporting business for our multi-billion-dollar capital markets platforms. Along the way, you’ll receive mentorship and coaching from a program manager, rotation manager, and peer mentor.
The HUD/FHA Program Rotations
While supporting Mortgage Banking, you will focus on reviewing and evaluating new loan opportunities and serve as a key point of contact for tracking the progress of those opportunities through the loan cycle. Example tasks in Mortgage Banking include:
- Participating in the Mortgage Banking origination team’s client meetings and client calls;
- Reviewing preliminary loan information and excel sizing transactions with the product originations team;
- Adding quotes to internal tracking (CRM) system;
- Preparing borrower engaged deals for handoff to the Underwriting Team.
- Assisting in crafting project narratives and presenting potential new projects to HUD field offices
- Assisting Berkadia Mortgage Bankers in targeting potential new clients/projects. Learn and analyze various deal structures for Affordable Housing, Market Rate, Senior’s Housing, Low Income Housing and Historic Tax Credit Housing
While supporting Underwriting, you will evaluate engaged loans, prepare HUD required exhibits, and assist in the closing and delivery of approved loans. Example tasks in Underwriting include:
- Supporting underwriters (including Deputy Chief Underwriters and Chief Underwriters) in executing business;
- Analyzing real estate transactions, which includes assisting in the collection and review of loan due diligence materials, the generation of underwriting pro forma cash flows, identifying and evaluating risks and mitigants associated with a proposed transaction, and preparing formal presentations for loan committee;
- Assisting in all aspects of deal processing from application through underwriting and closing to delivery of the loan to servicing and/or investor;
- Coordinating and monitoring loan underwriting tasks performed by offshore resources as well as external third parties to ensure timely and accurate delivery of work product.
- Liaising with lender attorney to ensure legal complications are resolved
While supporting Closing, you will evaluate loans for which a HUD commitment has been received and assist in the closing and delivery of approved loans. Example tasks in Closing include:
- Supporting Closers (including Team Leads and VP, FHA Closing) in all aspects of deal closing
- Monitoring and tracking appropriate closing documentation requirements (tax, repair, insurance)
- Recording loan and closing information in the Company’s loan system of record
- Preparing the closing file for delivery to the New Loan Boarding team, and the Investor or document custodian
While supporting Construction Management, you will evaluate closed construction loans, assist with bringing the loans to final endorsement, and monitor the team’s portfolio. Example tasks in Construction Loan Servicing include:
- Supporting Loan On-Boarding: Attending Pre-Construction Call, Assisting with Loan Setup, Loan Document Review and Welcome Package.
- Conducting Construction Administration: Processing of Construction Draws, Change Orders, Permission to Occupy forms and additional Borrower Requests.
- Preparing for Final Endorsement: Reviewing of Cost Certification Audits, Attend Final Endorsement Meetings with Legal Counsel and Develop understanding of Conversion to Perm process.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Assist with key Monthly Reporting, Metrics and Meetings.
Upon completing the 12-month rotational period, you will partner with local and program leadership to identify permanent placement into one of the HUD groups as determined by career interest, performance, and office needs.
