The team:

Proton VPN enables millions of people to connect securely and privately, even in places where the internet is restricted or unreliable. Delivering that experience means our service must perform flawlessly under highly variable, real-world conditions.

We are looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to lead our efforts in making Proton VPN the fastest, most resilient, and most reliable VPN service in the world.

You will define and drive the measurement, analysis, and optimization of Proton VPN’s end-to-end performance, across clients, platforms, and global infrastructure. You’ll help ensure that every connection is fast, stable, and private, regardless of where the user is or what network they’re on.

What you will do: 

• Design and own Proton VPN’s performance framework, defining metrics and KPIs that reflect the real-world experience of users (time-to-connect, throughput, latency, stability, reconnection rates, etc.).
• Develop distributed testing systems that simulate real network conditions, including low bandwidth, packet loss, and high-latency scenarios.
• Continuously measure and analyze performance across platforms (desktop, mobile, backend) and regions to identify bottlenecks and regressions.
• Collaborate with backend, R&D, and client teams to optimize protocol handling, connection setup, routing, and encryption performance.
• Create dashboards, reports, and automated alerts to track global performance health.
• Contribute to the design of resilient connectivity strategies that adapt dynamically to variable network conditions.

Job requirements: 

Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience in performance engineering or systems QA, ideally in networking, VPNs, or distributed systems.
• Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, TLS, WireGuard, debugging, manipulating, and performance profiling tools.
• Proven ability to analyze latency, throughput, and stability metrics across multiple layers (client, OS, transport, application).
• Proficiency in Python (or similar scripting language)
• Familiarity with network emulation and simulation tools (e.g., tc/netem, iperf, IPTables/nfTables…).
• Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Cross-platform experience with Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS preferred.

Bonus points for: 

• Experience with Rust/C/C++/System development

The Team:

As a Frontend Engineer on the Inbox team, you will play a crucial role in developing Proton's most vital services, including Mail and Calendar. • Take end-to-end ownership of mobile application development projects: you'll be comfortable with scoping projects, walking back from deadlines and being able to discern the important from the superfluous

• Develop new features: Developing, deploying and supporting high-quality user experiences, including feature development and implementation.
• Drive adoption and user retention: you will contribute to the user onboarding and delivering a delightful experience to retain
• Collaboration: Work closely with backend, product owners, designers, QA, and other engineers to take initiatives from ideation to completion.
• Code review and optimization: Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance optimization.
• Testing: Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies, on all test layers to ensure reliability and future ease of development.

Job requirements

FM Solution Onboarding Engineer, you will join the Solutions Onboarding team as part of the FM Solutions Readiness & Customer Operations and will notably oversee the onboarding of new customers onto our platform. How you’ll contribute

· Solution onboarding

o Work hand in hand with the project managers and act as the main technical point of contact for the implementation of customer projects on all customer related environments – sandbox, staging and production

o Set realistic deadlines and ensure all customer requirements are met within that period

o Coordinate/delegate and manage internal tasks with the associated internal departments (infrastructure, network, CAB, etc.)

o Document and maintain the customers implementations for further references and updates.

o Participate in the full automation of all implementations across all production related environments; be part of the stakeholders to shape the future implementation tools.

o Assist the customer during UAT test phase, assist other teams in troubleshooting an issue in staging and during hyper-care period in Production

· Configuration control

o Implement configuration control checks to ensure projects adhere to guidelines and consistency between production related environments is maintained.

o Controls configuration after solution upgrades to ensure non-regression.

· Team collaboration

Role overview

As a fullstack cross-platform Android Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing Proton Inbox using Jetpack Compose and Rust. You’ll use an end-to-end ownership approach, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions that will delight our customers.

The team:

ProtonVPN runs on a distributed architecture of Linux servers and a set of apps available on each major platform (Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, and Linux) that interact with our infrastructure.

As a member of the ProtonVPN Research and Development team, you will work on maintaining the security of ProtonVPN’s infrastructure, improving its overall performance, designing and implementing new features. On any given day, you might code in C or Rust, script in Python or Lua, create patches for the Linux kernel, or debug system-level issues on different operating systems. You will work in close collaboration with the entire ProtonVPN development team on any outstanding projects. You will face unique and varied challenges that will require continuous  learning.

• Being an active member of the ProtonVPN R&D team

Purpose of the role:  

At ProtonVPN, we're on a mission to provide secure, private internet access to everyone—even in the most restrictive environments. Our infrastructure spans thousands of servers worldwide, operating on a distributed architecture that connects our suite of applications across platforms.

As a Systems and Reliability Engineer on the VPN Infrastructure team, among several areas, you'll be at the forefront of our battle against censorship regimes worldwide. You'll help design, implement, and maintain the robust systems that keep our users connected when they need privacy and security most.

What you will do:

• Infrastructure Management: Oversee and optimize our rapidly expanding global network of thousands of servers
• Automation & Reliability: Design and implement automation systems that ensure 99.95%+ uptime across our infrastructure
• Problem Solving: Serve as an active member of the on-call rotation, troubleshooting complex technical challenges across different network environments and censorship scenarios
• Monitoring Excellence: Develop and enhance sophisticated monitoring and alerting systems that provide real-time visibility into our global infrastructure
• Technical Implementation: Engineer solutions to improve connectivity, stability, performance, scalability, security, and resilience—particularly in adversarial network environments

Job requirements:

• Linux Expertise: Knowledge of Debian/Linux operating system internals, including NFtables, networking stack, and kernel tuning
• Infrastructure as Code: Experience with orchestration and automation using Ansible or similar tools
• Programming Skills: Python proficiency for developing automation tools and operational scripts
• Observability Tools: Hands-on experience with monitoring solutions like VictoriaMetrics and Grafana dashboards
• Security Knowledge: Understanding of security principles and best practices for infrastructure

Job description

Picarro is looking for a customer-facing Field Application (FAE)/Technical support Engineer (TSE) to become a key member of our Energy Team and contribute to the development in Europe, especially Italy.

She or he will have a hands-on approach, a strong technical acuity, and a willingness to drive customer satisfaction. This person will be responsible for providing technical support, installation, reparation, and maintenance on equipment, answering customers’ requirements and issues, and supporting post sales activity within major utility companies. She/he will also interface with new customers to organize and carry out field demonstrations and field trials using Picarro’s flagship products at customer sites.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Picarro FAE team services our natural gas utility customers providing high quality customer support both on-site and remotely. The FAE will be the primary technical support champion for the customers.

The primary responsibilities of the FAE are to provide technical support and support Picarro customers with their field organization. The FAE supports customer’s install base and develops a broad understanding of customer requirements and concerns, positions and adapts the capabilities of Picarro’s Natural Gas Asset Management solutions. The candidate will be trained to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the system technology and the ability to adapt the functionalities to the customer business case.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the installation and testing of the Picarro system for enterprise customers on system deployments.
• Respond to technical support requests and technical questions, fix technical issues remotely or onsite.
• Provide a comprehensive diagnose of the system through remote diagnosis and debugging.
• Fix technical issues (hardware and software) and organize timely replacement of parts.
• Manage spare inventory and related logistics activities.
• Support on-site customer projects.
• Address field questions and respond appropriately by providing detailed technical answers along with technical documentation as required.
• Log Customer issues and track resolutions.
• Perform Quality control of operations and ensure process and procedures are maintained.
• Develop strong customer relationships with key accounts.
• Create data deliverables (reports, dashboards).
• Upon circumstances, customer support might be required during evenings (2pm – 10pm) and weekends (6pm – 10pm)
• Prepare technical documentation and procedures.
• Provide training and documentation for Support Level 1 and Support Level 2.
• Manage the periodic maintenance of the Picarro systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

Field applications engineers need a wide range of skills and a solid technical base. Because field application engineers provide technical support, they must be able to summarize and communicate issues in a synthetic manner and share them at various levels of the organization. They also must be familiar with technical product specifications and be able to point out the specific technical merits of our solution. Customer relationship skills are critically important in this role. Because customers want to be assured that the technology is reliable, the field applications engineer must be able to back up technical claims.

• Field experience or hands-on practice or knowledge of multi-disciplinary system design and development (systems such as electrical, electronics, computerized, mechanical, optical or a combination of these)
• Experience working in a customer facing role.
• Good knowledge and understanding of system engineering process, engineering designs and control systems.
• The ability to travel frequently to customer sites (Italy and/or abroad) on short notice is required.
• Comfortable in dealing with complex, abstract, or vague problems. Analytical skills to apprehend complex configurations with multiple failure causes.
• Strong skills in organization, timely delivery and independence are required.
• Clean, detailed, and clear documentation practitioner.
• Experience in project management is an asset.
• Be proactive as a customer advocate, looking for and solving problems before they surface.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
